I have problem with 5 GHz wifi. Phone won't connect to 5 GHz band on any router. It just doesn't see any router when I manually choose 5 GHz.
On automatic it connects only to 2,4 GHz and I can manually choose 2,4 GHz.
I have installed several custom ROMs and original to. Only one time it worked with 5 GHz, with one version of miglobe ROM.
When I bought the phone it came with global developer ROM and wifi worked fine, 5 GHz no problem.
I've unlocked and installed TWRP, 5 GHz worked fine.
When I first time flashed different ROM via TWRP, 5 GHz didn't work. After several flashed ROMs I've flashed mi.globe ROM and then wifi did work in 5GHz band. I think the version of android in that specific ROM was 7.0.
I'm curently on global dev ROM MIUI 9, android 7.0 flashed via fastboot. I've lost TWRP but anyway 5GHz wifi still doesn't work.
I've read somewhere that when downgrading android version there can be issues with wifi, bluetooth etc. I did downgrade from 7.0 to 6.0 in the process. But also I did upgrade from 6.0 to 7.0 I am on currently.
I've posted this issue on official MIUI forum but no one replied.
Does anyone know what is the problem? I don't think it's hardware fault, only software.
