I saw today that the WiFi symbol and the LTE symbol were both displayed while I see the up and down arrows on the WiFi symbol working. What does this mean? What is it doing?

Thank you.
One cause is the download booster option as some mentioned, but there can be other causes as well. I've had this happen before, and the download booster option was already off. As you can see, people have experienced this due to various apps, so you'll have to explore and figure out exactly which one is the culprit in your case.

I had most of my apps opened and the DATA and WiFi symbols were appearing simultaneously.

Then started closing apps one by one from Recent Apps. Found that one app causing the anomalous behaviour.

I'm guessing this is common practice then, because my network operator "Three"'s account management app does the same. They are probably checking a valid SIM subscription in order to identify/verify the account.
You're right, same happened once with the MyBell app here on Bell Canada. Makes sense. Thanks :)

T-Mobile Note 8 WIFI and LTE visible at the same time

Hello ALL,

I have Note 8, T-Mobile. I recently noticed it having both LTE and WIFI symbols on at the same time. Initially, I thought it was due to bad WIFI signal; however, no matter where I connect to WIFI (I tried on few public WIFIs), the LTE sign stayed on. I started uninstalling applications one by one and after every APP uninstalled, the LTE symbol would disappear, but came back after a few minutes.

Finally, when I forced stopped T-Mobile app, the LTE went away right away. There is no way to uninstall T-Mobile app, so the only available option is FORCE STOP. DISABLE option is grayed out in my phone. Therefore, force stopping is not a permanent solution because it would turn ON after every restart.

Solution is :
1. Turn OFF "Allow background data usage" for T-Mobile application. ( APPS >>T-Mobile >> Mobile data)
2. Log in T-Mobile application. I guess.. we need to set it up once before it stops doing what it is doing and resulting in the LTE symbol being on.

I hope this helps someone!

Thanks
