Wifi greyed out after boot up but connected

I have noticed a few times that when I booted up my tab, the wifi would be greyed out, but it would still say it is connected.
I would not be able to surf or anything though.

I would have to disconnect and reconnect, or turn off then turn on wifi to get it back.

Anyone seen this? I have noticed it when my battery is low. This last time I checked and I was at 36% battery. Maybe some type of power saving thing? I would not think so cause I have not changed it out of balanced mode.

Does it sense a low batter (under 40%) and disable the wifi?

The wifi symbol is showing in the task bar, but it is grey (instead of blue)

If this is not normal, it is going back (but for some reason I remember it doing it with the first one I had when the battery was low)

If I recall correctly, the wifi icon will be grey when it can't talk to Googles servers for whatever reason or if you don't have any kind of Google sync setup.
