I have just installed Charging LED for Galaxy Nexus from the Play Store. It works perfectly, no complaints, but I have a doubt.

If the LED of the phone is on constantly for hours, is there a threat of it getting damaged or some other side effects taking place?
I wanna use this app, but I'm a bit scared about the hardware side effects it MAY have.

Kindly enlighten me on this topic.

Thanks.

I`ll suppose battery life will be the negative side effect.

I don't think so.
i had it on my motorola defy and and now on Gnex and it works fine on both.

i use light flow(the best one for our phone)

Well thanks for the suggestion. I don't think Light Flow has the charging light option. The app I have mentioned keeps the LED light on (not just blinking) for all the time the phone is being charged.

Hmmm.. I don't think so, as the LED will be on only when the phone is being charged. Or am I wrong?

Yeah if you are charging then battery life wouldn't be a problem. I have never heard of any negative side effects to using a LED app. Go for it, it will be grand ;)

Yes, even I have never ever had any issues with LED apps, but this one is different. It will be ON constantly, not just blinking. And it will be ON for hours at a stretch, with just makes me a little worried.

Can the color leave a permanent mark, similar to some pixels that sometime get stuck to the screen?

Not sure about permanent mark but here is some info on life expectancy

Just so you know light flow has options for low battery, charging battery, and charged battery. You can set it to always stay on instead of blinking also.

LED's don't get stuck on or anything negative if left on for hours. The only downside is LED's are rated for a certain number of hours. Being constantly on will use those hours up significantly faster than just blinking. On the upside, LED's are usually rated for 25,000, 50,000 and even up to 100,000 hours. So even if you charge your phone for 8 hours a day you have quite a few years of use.
