Hello,
I also got my Fire HD 10 (2021) today and it has the firmware 7.3.1.9. The tablet should serve as a wall tablet to display my visualization of my home automation. Tasker, Fully Kiosk Browser should later run on it. Now I would have questions about what I have to do to get the best out of the tablet. The "Disable Lockscreen" option is clear so far. Use Toolbox 30.3 with Windows 10
From what I've read, I shouldn't update the tablet with a newer firmware, correct? I haven't set up WiFi yet.
I have to say that I tried it today and it worked right away and the tablet was reset to factory settings and now when I run the "Disable Lockscreen" function it always asks me for a screen lock and select "None" and then it doesn't go any further.
Best regards
Stefan
Hi, and welcome to XDA!
You're correct on the firmware. Updates in firmware often bring new "features" and lockdowns of things we like to modify. Also, they're irreversible and can't be undone with a factory reset. Usually, you're best off stopping any firmware updates. With 7.3.1.9, it's likely that the only viable method is by using RethinkDNS to block the web connectivity that the Amazon app uses to apply the updates.
When using the Disable Lockscreen tool, make sure your tablet is awake and screen is on. Once you select "None", look at your tablet's screen. You should see the hidden activity that chooses the lockscreen type come up. If it doesn't select "none" for you and then close, manually tap "none" and close the activity. Do not select "Pattern" unless you're fully aware of the need to factory reset the tablet in order to remove it.
