I doubt this has to do with the last update. The Windows 10 updates so far have not overwritten the bootloaders. I did the update myself and the bootloader was still unlocked. Or do you mean that you had to disable Root Access?

If you want to unlock the bootloader on Windows 10, you can follow the same procedure. But there is a risk. If your partition layout was changed during the updates (probably not, but not sure), then your phone won't boot properly after unlocking the bootloader. You can still recover from that, because you can still flash a stock ROM or custom ROM after that. But your data on the phone will obviously be gone then.
i am in lastest win10 and i have unloked boot and root access so no problem a lot of thanks

I did it many times. Doing reset using Settings-app and also using key-combo's. Also with latest Windows 10 build. Not sure what went wrong with with your phone. What exactly is bricked? Did you follow the procedure, which I described in the "Build and capture" section?

@Heathcliff74, when I create a captured clean ROM from W10M, are partitions unlocked by default?
Root Access survives a hard reset. So, the state of your clean ROM depend on the state of your phone when you capture it. If your phone does not have Root Access when you capture it, your ROM will also not gave Root Access. But it is possible to enable Root Access on the ROM image. You can also see that in my instruction-video.

I was thinking more like unix style backup (or tape)...but it's not flashable though...
I still don't see the problem. The resulting backup in zip-file IS flashable, because the "Flash archive" function in Windows Phone Internals decompresses the archives on the fly (in memory) and flashes the containing partitions straight to the phone.

WPinternals 1.2 released

A small update this time. Changes in this version:

  • Compatibility improvement for Windows 7. In previous versions "Enable Root Access" could result in "Failed to enable Root Access on MainOS".
  • "Restore bootloader" now uses a different Flashing interface. Previously, when you restored the bootloader, you were forced to do a full flash afterwards. With this new method you can keep your current Windows Phone installation. Remember that you need to disable Root Access before you restore the bootloader.
  • Many small fixes and tweaks.

Happy hacking!

Hi Heathcliff74! Thank you for your great job! I successfully unlocked a Lumia 820 phone with Windos Phone 8.1.

I have only a question. Now I have a unlocked phone with root access and registry access, but how can I access to the file system and to the registry? There are some Windows Phone applications compatible with WP Internals with the ability to access to file system and/or to registry?

Thank you a lot!
