Hi,

If I select the option of Unlock Boot Loader, will it wipe off the Data from my phone?
I have a Lumia 920 with Windows 8.1 and want the WhatsApp Chat Database from my.
I really need those files to be transferred to my new Lumia Phone....
Please Help:(:(:(
I want to access system File without loosing the data on my phone and copy those Chat Database files to my PC.

Thanks,
Sameer.

Don't worry! It won't wipe your data, if you WON'T FORMAT A PARTITION OF THE PHONE OF COURSE!!!

I made a program that unbricks your device from QHSUSB_DLOAD, QHUSB_DLOAD.
It's called...
Windows Phone Unbrick Tool (WPUT)
It comes with an installer.
NOTE:
1. You should enter the license key that is provided in the License Agreement section (for checking that you are not a bot, so don't use autoinstaller!
2. You must download your emergency HEX and MBN files from lumiafirmware.com
3. You must specify the correct path to the HEX/MBN files otherwise the program will fail!
4. If the unbricking succeeds remove your battery from your device for 1 minute and put it back on
5. Charge the device for at least 30 minutes before turning it on!

Download it here

(REMOVE THE SPACES)

I have a question here.. aren't the mbn and hex files are same for a specific model?? Or they differ in variants like variant of india and Singapore??

No! Of course the MBN/HEX files are specific!
You need to get the correct MBn and HEX files that are equal to your ffu and product code! As the bootloader versions are very different from each other :)

MBN and HEX files are identical for the same RM-XXX number (that is the same variant)
No, different customizations (yeah, those are not "variants") don't need different emergency files

You don't get me right!
Different product codes have different bootloader versions in the provided OS as the product codes are "Variants" of the device!
When you download an FFU file that is equal to your Product Code, it has different bootloader from others, but that doesn't mean that there are no any other firmwares for other product codes that have the same bootloader.
For example I download the stock FFU from lumiafirmware.com and it says there that the FIRMWARE VERSION (bootloader version) is 3051.50009.1424.0008 and it has different emergency files, so that's why you need to have the SAME emergency files for the SAME correct product code FFU file!
Otherwise your device may fail to restore it's bootloader, or in the worst scenario even not to boot to Emergency Mode (completely bricked, needs JTAG)

OK, I got it!
Don't worry, as you have got your Lumia 525 in Emergency Mode, you need to do the following things:
1. Calm down
2. Download latest version of Windows Device Recovery Tool
3. Install it
4. Start it
5. Click "My Device is not detected"
6. If WDRT shows your device, click it and wait, until emergency flashing finished
6.1. If WDRT tries to flash and says that it's failed, disconnect
the device, remove the battery, wait 15 seconds, insert the battery, connect the device to computer and retry, now it should finish and start installing the firmware for your device!

7. If your device is not shown in the WDRT, you need to do the following things:

7.1. Open lumiafirmware.com
7.2. In the search box, write your model name ( RM-XXX )
7.3. Click enter, and wait until a list of product codes is shown
7.4. Choose a random one
7.5. Download the emergency files
7.6. Download and install my program called Windows Phone Unbrick Tool (download link is located one of my threads)
7.7. Open the folder where the emergency files are downloaded
7.8. Copy the path of the emergency files to text fields
7.9. Click START
8.0. If fails to recover your device, try once again
8.1. Remove your battery for 1 minute and reinsert it
8.2. Now charge your phone and connect it to computer
8.3. Open WDRT and click "My Device is not detected"
8.4. Click LUMIA and boom!
8.5. Your device has been detected
8.6. Now start recovering your device

Wasn't it you who claimed that the emergency files were customization-specific?
yes but this time it doesn't matter as the device has corrupted OS and doesn't need a unique emergency file, but after recovery, it's recommended to flash the correct files

Two questions:
1. Should you be listing your credit card number in public?
2. How does one send money to a credit card?
Just transfer money to another creditcard and yes
actually having the creditcard data is harmless as you need to know the card holder name, validation end date, and cvc code as well as security code....
So.... yeah why not?

unlocked but cannot root ans switch into mass storage

Hi all

First Heathcliff74 … you are to be commended on such an excellent product … brilliant
second to answer your question... why do we want to run android on a windows phone: I can only give you my reason... I am an old retired techie … a poor pensioner with little money... my last great purchase was a few yers ago lumia 950xl... then ms walked away from mobile... windows store is small … things i need no longer available … my bank no longer supports windows app … so i need android... i have a lumia 920 spare... so i hope to find someone who has an android rom to flash
in the meantime...
i cannot seem to root my 920 and swich to mass storage... i am hoping someone can tell me how to fix this... the log is as follows with a couple of attempts:

thanks

george

Root Access on 950XL

Thanks for the work Heathcliff74 …
I have root unlocked my 950XL with a combination of vcReg10 and WPI but I get an access denied error when accessing folders in the G:\Data\USERS\DefApps directory.
Once I had applied the unlock from VcReg10 my device was no longer displaying in Windows Explorer. WPI gave me the G: to access.
I assume this is not normal as a search here returned nothing.

Any ideas why I can't get to my G:\Data\USERS\DefApps folder properly?
Thanks

Which WPInternals are you using? What FFU version are you trying it with?

Are you also using a second FFU from another model, or not?
My model is RM-984 05W940 (Chinese variant of lumia 830)
I'm using the latest WPinternals(2.6), and the latest
FFU: 02177.00000.15184.36002 - 8.10.15148.160 and also tried HK variant and RM-1049 ffu. None worked.

Also is it necessary to update to wp10 with update advisor first before unlock?

If you update AFTER unlocking, the update will partially relock the phone. Last time I tried that prevented it from being unlocked again until reflashed

Cannot check the support list as I'm not on Windows, but according to my memories if your OS version is supported, but your FFU is not, using the first FFU found by WPI for RM-1085 as a reference FFU (3rd file) should work
It's working,thanks a ton sir

But I still can't disable secure boot verification (boot custom efi files) even if testsinging and disable integritycheck is on

Someone could show me a directory and files tree, from a working DPP folder/partition? Because i ended clearing mine, and i like to test if at least wifi function can be restored.
If anyone want to pass files from dpp folder to try, is better for me. Thanks.

Unable to enter Mass Storage mode

Hi, thank you for your awesome work (donation sent :good:) Now I took my Lumia 950XL which was running latest OS, and followed the guide given for WoA project . I flashed the original ffu, and let it upgrade all the way to 15063. I unlocked the device at tat stage. But in the background it had already downloaded 1709 version of OS. After the unload I clicked on restart for the OS update. Now in WP Internals, I can't enter to Mass Storage mode. It goes to Flash mode, and remains in that screen, while the phone reboots to normal phone UI. Am I missing something or i screwed up the process and should start over with flashing original ffu?

Joining weaselmc in his question as I face the same on my Lumia 920 - root access enabled and entered mass storage mode but no access to \Data\Users\DefApps. Any idea why? Is there any way to do that?

I am proud to announce the immediate availability of Windows Phone Internals 1.0. This tool allows you to unlock the bootloader of selected Lumia Windows Phone models. After unlocking the bootloader, you can enable Root Access on the phone or create and flash Custom ROM's. I created two video's to demonstrate the features of the tool.

Root Access allows you to load your own homebrew software onto the phone with high privileges. Apps can escape from their sandboxes. The tool can also create backup-images of the phone and access the file-system in Mass Storage mode. The tool supports most versions of Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile. For a complete list of supported phones and Operating Systems have a look at the Getting Started section of the tool.

The download package also contains an SDK, which helps you to easily access the filesystem and registry on the phone from your own homebrew app.

The tool, SDK and video's are available on my new website:

    www.wpinternals.net

    Update december 23rd:

Windows Phone Internals version 1.1 is released. It has a fix for the audio-issue when Root Access is enabled and it supports Root Access on the latest Windows 10 Mobile build 10.0.10586.36. You can find the new version of the tool in the Download section on wpinternals.net

It seems there were extra integrity checks for playing media. I fixed this for audio-playback. I will create a generic fix later, but this will work for now. If you already have Root Access and you experience the Audio-issue, just "Enable Root Access" again on the phone.

    Update december 29th:

A small update this time. Changes in this version:

    • Compatibility improvement for Windows 7. In previous versions "Enable Root Access" could result in "Failed to enable Root Access on MainOS".
    • "Restore bootloader" now uses a different Flashing interface. Previously, when you restored the bootloader, you were forced to do a full flash afterwards. With this new method you can keep your current Windows Phone installation. Remember that you need to disable Root Access before you restore the bootloader.
    • Many small fixes and tweaks.

    FAQ

If your question is not answered here, please watch my instruction video's and read the "Getting started" section in my tool. I spent a lot of time to explain everything. If you have more questions, they are probably already answered there.

Can we run Android on Lumia now?

Why people ask this is beyond me. If you want Android, buy an Android phone. If you still want it, it will be a big challenge. You can remove UEFI, EFIESP, MainOS and Data partitions and then add hboot and other Android partitions. But then you would still need Android drivers for the Lumia components.

Which Lumia's are supported by the tool?

    Lumia 520, 521, 525, 620, 625, 720, 820, 920, 925, 928, 1020 and 1320 are supported. These bootloaders can be unlocked.

    Which OS versions are supported?

For these OS versions Root Access can be enabled. To enable Root Access, the bootloader must be unlocked first.

I will add support for new versions when they get released.

Why are other Lumia's not supported?

Other Lumia's have different CPU architectures. And these come with different bootloaders. Some of my hacks depend on the implementation of these bootloaders. Some of my hacks won't work on different bootloaders. I need to find new hacks for these bootloaders. I will try that, but I can't predict when that is ready. The tool has implemented all the basics. So adding new hacks will be easier.

Why are other brands not supported?

Same reason. Some hacks work different. I will try to add support for other brands. But I don't know when it is ready.

I need Emergency Flash Loaders. Where can I get them?

This search should yield relevant results:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=%22lumia%22+%22emergency%22+%22hex%22

I need an Engineering SBL3. Where can I get it?

This search should yield relevant results:

    https://www.google.com/search?q=%22engineering+sbl3s%22

You can download a full Engineering ROM or a separate SBL3 file. If you select an FFU file in the tool, the tool will extract the SBL3 from the FFU. SBL3 contains hardware-profiles of the phone and it initializes the hardware. Therefore you should only use an alternative SBL3 if it came from a phone that is at least the same brand and CPU architecture as your phone.

I can't find a matching Engineering SBL3. Can I still unlock my phone?

Yes. The alternative SBL3 is optional. You can still unlock your bootloader and flash Custom ROM's. But you will not have Mass Storage Mode. So you won't be able to enable Root Access directly on the phone or make a full backup-image of the phone. But you can still flash Custom ROM's and enable Root Access on the Custom ROM's. Use the second method from my "Unlock" video.

I unlocked my phone and now my audio is gone. Why?

This is an issue with Root Access in Windows Phone Internals 1.0. Update to Windows Phone Internals 1.1 and then choose "Enable Root Access" again.

Can I SIM-unlock my phone with this tool?

No. SIM-unlock is illegal in some countries. I don't support SIM-unlock.

    Engineering SBL3s

Here are engineering SBL3s for quite a few models that WPInternals currently supports ;)
    Precisely, the 520, 620, 625, 810, 820, 822, 920, 925 and the 1020

I found a solution for the Audio-issue when enabling Root Access. It is actually a work-around. It needs a better solution. But for now, it will do. Will take me a bit of time to implement it, but a new version of the tool is in the making. :)
