Just got my Fire HD 8 Plus with 3/64 GB for $100 during Prime Day. Toolbox made it so easy to remove the Amazon bloat and add the Google services, apps, etc. Thanks for a great utility!

I am the sole user of this device. Is there any reason to add a User via Toolbox or register the device with Amazon?
Greetings my friend!

It overjoys me to hear you are enjoying the Toolbox and what it has to offer! As for adding a user I don't recommend it as the user will be deleted by Parental Controls when the user profile is logged out or the device is restarted. Registering ties the tablet to your Amazon account and can re-enable lockscreen ads, and can cause your advertisement id/household id to be applied so please be careful. If you don't need any of the Amazon services I'd recommend to leave the tablet unregistered.

Thanks so much and please have a blessed day/night! :D

Greetings friend,

Could you please open the Toolbox, click on the Device name (bottom left corner) to display the Device Information. Next, could you please perhaps share the details in the right pane of the window (information such as the Battery Level, Android Version, etc.? Thanks! :D
Sure. Here it is. I also got this error plugging the Fire into my PC.

Hi, I am new to the forum and to this thread specifically.

First of all, I wish to express my appreciation for Datastream33. I truly love his (her? their?) software and his commitment to continuous improvement/update. I just made a small donation, because you have to put your money where your mouth is. :)

I have applied the tools to an old Fire 8 tablet, and everything went smoothly with just one, but substantial, exception: the Netflix app. I must admit I did not uninstall it before modding the tablet, and I guess the best way to go is starting from scratch (that is, applying a factory reset as the first step). Anyway, i uninstalled it and tried to reinstall if with the Toolbox, but it keeps failing to connect to Netflix services (error 14).

It is not a big problem per se, because the tablet is going to be dismissed when a new 10 HD is delivered tomorrow, but I would like to know if this is a know issue (I read the thread almost entirely and it doesn't seem to be) and which is the recommended course of action when modding a brand new Fire. The new tablet, as well as the old one, will be used almost eclusively by my 7-year old daughter for media playing and gaming, so having Netflix working on it is undestandably a prerequisite.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Signed: a boomer form Italy who tries hard not to adhere to the stereotype 🙃
Well first off, I'd like to welcome you to the XDA Forums and to the Toolbox thread!

Secondly, THANKS a ton for your kind words my friend. It really provides joy to see that you find the Toolbox useful. But the real ones are folks like you whom find it useful, and your joy is what the Toolbox strives to provide. I'd also like to THANK YOU a thousand for the donation, it really does mean a lot to me...

As for Netflix, this could a problem with the app already being outdated or the lack of the Amazon Store's presence... I'm not 100% sure. Let me check the Netflix app and see if there is a new version on the Amazon Store.

When it comes to modding a new tablet the first thing I'd do is go through setup until it asks you for a WIFI connection, at this point its 100% recommended to skip this step as it also prevents setup from asking you to sign in to your Amazon account. Next, I'd disable OTA Updates in the Modify System Settings tool. After that maybe run the Privacy Controls tool afterwords.

Don't forget, you can open the Settings, tick the box next to the Welcome Screen, restart the Toolbox, when asked if you've used the Toolbox click the "No, I'm a new user" button, proceed through the guide until the Toolbox asks if you want to go through the Setup Guide. This guide will help setup the tablet in the recommended way ;)

Hope this helps and if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask. Have a great day/night!

Thanks for the screenshots!

Ahh, there's the culprit. Seems the Toolbox is getting confused on what device to send the commands to due to the emulator being present. Ok, I'd recommend terminating the process (using Task Manager or CMD) of the emulator and then trying again with the Toolbox. Do you happen to have Bluestacks, Android Studio, Android x86, Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, or any android box connected to your network or installed on your PC?

There is a Fire TV and a Roku on TVs in the house. So I should just unplug those and try again?? Also the emulator?? What would that be? Pretty sure I don't have any sort of Android emulator on my PC.

You could definitely do that!

However, an easier way would be to disconnect just your computer temporarily from WIFI or from the router while using the Toolbox. If this is the route you'd like to take please make sure you kill the adb.exe process from Task Manager or CMD before re-executing the Toolbox. If you are still getting the emulator error or the same issues as before it means the emulator is installed on your PC, and you will need to terminate the process.

Please let me know how it goes!🤞

If your nav buttons are too close together, I believe the default spacing is
Code:
settings put secure sysui_nav_bar "space,back;home;recent,space"
I think the extra spaces are what's squashing it in portrait mode.

Thanks! That setting looks really good on the HD 8 (2020).
Ah, thanks for sharing fellas. Seems device check needs to be added to the Device Dashboard Icon/Navbar Modifier subtools and this helps immensely! :D(y)

So I disconnected from the internet and still got errors installing Google Services but this time it put the Google Store on the Fire... I also tried to remove all the Amazon apps which said it was successful but I still have them all.

Hmm, ok... a step in the right direction i suppose.

Ok, could you please execute the Manage Amazon Apps tool, click the "Disable Manually" radio button, and from the list of apps select any app, then click the "Disable Selected" button and then take a screenshot of the Toolbox when the "All selected apps were disabled successfully" messagebox pops up? Thanks! :D

I disabled Amazon Games. And even though Play Store is on the Fire now I am not sure it works. I haven't set up wifi for fear of an update!. I did disable OTA updates though so I'm sure it's safe to turn wifi on now.

Hi all,

Firstly, thanks to the dev for creating this toolbox, should hopefully make things nice and easy!

I got my first Fire tablet yesterday (HD10 plus 2021). I'm trying to get the play store on there but the toolbox keeps getting stuck at various stages of "Downloading xxxxx (1/4 etc)".

It first stopped at 1/4 so I left it for half an hour then restarted, it then stopped at 2/4 - I again left it for 30 mins and restarted it. It's now sat at "Downloading account manager 3/4".

Is this normal? Should I have to exit after waiting 30 mins at each download step?

Thanks
Bri

UPDATE: I continued closing the app after waiting 20-30 mins at each "paused" step and it eventually insatlled the playstore/frameworks etc. All good now and just waiting to allow the store to update itself before using.

Thanks again to Datastream33

Hmm, not sure what's going on then. The emulator is still running maybe?

As for OTAs as long as you've disabled it in the Modify System Settings tool then you should be safe to hook the tablet up to WiFi. Just be careful, if the Toolbox isn't working properly it may have not disabled OTAs correctly.

I got to go to bed my friend. So tired. Catch up with you tomorrow if that's cool with you.

All works great, however I ran into the following, the Alexa app keeps closing/crashing immediately upon launching. Have installed MS launcher. What could be the culprit? Do I've to manually disable Alexa from Toolbox and download it again, if possible, from Gplay store? Or use another apk? ...

Edit: I'm not sure if google play store installed its version before I set it to 'do not auto update' but searching it in playstore and updating it there, then allowed me to uninstall it, and subsequently re download it from the fire store. It now does work.

However the 'my devices' button next to the android home nav buttons doesn't work/react/open anything. Any way to enable that, or is that not working tied to removing the FireOS launcher upon installing the MS one?

Hi
Just got a Fire HD 10 Tablet 11th Generation. Used the Toolbox and now have a couple of minor issues.

First one concerns the Google Contacts app. When I run it it does not display any contacts. If I go into the settings for the app and click on "Google Contacts sync settings" nothing happens. If I then try and click on the "Accounts" setting I get an error "No app was found to handle this action". All the other Google apps (Gmail, calendar, drive etc) are syncing OK. Any thoughts?

Secondly the Alexa app does not load. I've tried disabling and restoring from the Toolbox. I can still use the wake word and issue voice commands without problems and use the show mode for a full screen Alexa but cannot run the app itself to configure and control it. As an aside I'm pretty sure that it ran OK earlier in the day. Again any suggestions?

However the rest of the tools worked great and I now have a fairly standard Android tablet without all the Amazon guff.
You just need to download Google Contacts Sync. I just got the 10th Gen Fire HD8+ and had the same problem until I saw the fix on Reddit. As soon as I downloaded and installed, contacts worked perfectly. Here's the link: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...acts-sync-5-1-1-1965118-android-apk-download/

Anyone an idea how to add (google) weather to your homescreen? Installed MS launcher, even when I download the google app through the playstore, or google weather+location in a browser it never gives me the 'add to home screen' option...

I fixed the file, re-download it from my original post and let me know if it works this time.
Ah I assume same fix Datastream33 mentioned. Thanks again for providing the file.

I will also try to remember the next time the update trick.

Hi, when you update the toolbox, then use it on the 2019 Amazon hd10 that already ran the older toolbox, do I run it a different way to update the program on the tablet?
Also how important is it to maintain the Amazon OS? Or is there a way to keep the underling OS up to date? Thank you.
If you already ran the toolbox in the past there is no need to run it again unless there is a new tool that interests you,

Im going to assume when you say "maintain the Amazon OS" you mean how important is it to keep FireOS updated,

IMO updates are not that important unless you want/need new features that is in a newer version of FireOS,

You can re-enable updates via the toolbox, update your tablet, then re-disable updates again after,

but it should be noted that a update can revert all changes made by the toolbox,

(Maybe even block toolbox features, but amazon hasnt blocked a toolbox feature recently so dont get to worried)

If a update does revert toolbox made changes you can always redo them.
(assuming amazon doesnt block said change)

    Greetings!

Great question! When updating from an older version of the Toolbox you do not need to do anything on the tablet for it to work with the newer version. :D

As for updates, we'd generally recommend not to update your tablet simply because it reverses a majority of changes made by the Toolbox. However, it is your tablet so feel free to update if needed. Hope this helps! Have a great rest of your night!

    What's going on guys?

I sincerely hope everyone is having a great weekend so far and it only continues to get better!

Tonight, we have the release of V19.0. Without further ado... let's jump into the details of what makes V19.0 a worthy successor to V18.1!

Checks, Checks, and More Checks for Google Services!

Yeah, you know Google Services? The tool that's been reworked a few times already because it had issues? Well, let's just say the tool has been filled to the brim with checking procedures for almost everything the Tool performs. Downloads are now timed, and if the progress bar doesn't move the Toolbox will inform you and ask you to restart the tool (which should fix the timeout issue).
I've also added more checks to the Android version, architecture, and download url detect functions to ensure things get setup properly. Despite these checks, the tool still isn't perfect... so if you would be kind enough to report any issues you come across with the tool I would be so grateful!

    The "About" Window Redesign

Well, what can I say "about" this redesign? Oh, well maybe it's cool to talk about the new buttons added? In the new window you will find 3 buttons at the bottom of the window: "Check for Updates" (moved from the Settings window), "Open Instillation Directory" (Opens the Toolbox's root folder), and the "Open ADB Directory" (Opens the ADB directory for your installation). In addition to the buttons, other information such as ADB Version, build date/time, installation directory, and other important information can now be easily located in this window.

New Ways of Managing Amazon Apps

This is perhaps one of my favorite aspects of this update! It is now possible to create your own debloat presets by placing the packages you want to disable/hide into a .debloat file (it's really a .txt file, just changed the extension). Once this file is created, all you have to do is load it using the "Load From File..." option, select your .debloat file, and click the "Execute" button.
The Toolbox will then parse through the file and hide/disable the packages in order as they appear in the file. See the attached ExampleDebloatList.debloat file (included in the .zip with the same name) to learn how to properly make one of these debloat files... and create your own preset. In addition, these files can also be loaded by other users so feel free to share your .debloat file if you think it may be of use to others!
    LoadFromFile.PNG

    User Management Finally Gets Reworked

Instead of relying on pushing a user's list and reading the list when needed... the tool now uses dumpsys for reading and retrieving user names/ids. Meaning, the Toolbox can detect any user (even if the user wasn't created with the Toolbox) and switch/remove that user with ease. While the tool has been reworked, the issue with Parental Controls deleting users on reboot still stands unfortunately.

Navigation Bar Modifier & Quick Settings Modifier Additions

I'm happy to announce that these tools are now capable of reading and altering configurations for other profiles (users) instead of just the default user (0).
As for the Navigation Bar Modifier, you can now utilize the brand new presets to really spice up the look of your navigation bar. Alongside the presets, the Padding item has also been added to really help you find the look you're after.

Wait, that's not everything! Feel free to take a look at the changelog below for more on tonight's update:
    Fire Toolbox V19.0 - Changelog:

    • [About] Redesigned and added more information such as ADB version, Installation/adb directory locations, etc.
    • [About] Added buttons for accessing the Toolbox's ADB/Installation directories.
    • [Google Services] Implemented integrity check to ensure downloads succeed.
    • [Google Services] Added timeout detection for downloads.
    • [Settings] Added Setup Tour to the Startup category.
    • [User Management] Reworked the tool and updated the UI.
    • [Manage Amazon Apps] Added Music and Downloads to the manual app selection list.
    • [Navigation Bar Modifier/Quick Settings Modifier] Now reads the configuration and applies changes to the foreground user instead of only applying to the default user.
    • [Modify System Settings] Improved the "Hidden" option for Device Dashboard Icon.
    • [Privacy Controls] Included the ability to randomize the Household ID if device is tied to one.
    • [Manage Amazon Apps] Included the ability to "Load From File..." to the presets for Disable/Hide Amazon Apps.
    • [YouTube Clients] Updated all YouTube Clients to the latest versions.

Well, what are you waiting for? Head on over to the Downloads section of the OP or feel free to update using the Toolbox Updater!

As always, THANK YOU guys for the love and support! Seeing the interactions here on the forum just puts a smile on my face, and I'm so blessed to be able to meet all of you! I'd also like to send a HUGE shoutout to my wonderful donors! The coffee was DELICIOUS and I only have you guys to thank! :D

I'd personally also like to give a GIANT shoutout to my friends @Falcon342, and @blaacksheep for being troopers and going above the call of duty to help answers questions here on the form! It's unreal how much time you guys have put into being so helpful... I and the community really do appreciate everything you've done guys! Thanks so much! 😄

Well, That's all I've got for now! Please have a wonderful day/night and until next time guys... Peace!

What's going on everyone? I hope everyone is having an enjoyable day so far!

Tonight, marks the release of Fire Toolbox V20.0! Wow, 20 versions so far?! Hmm, can't believe how fast this project is growing! Anyways, we're here to discuss what V20.0 has to offer... so let's dive right into it! :D

    Improved Debloat Lists and UI!

Alright, the debloat lists... one of my favorite features in the Toolbox. I'm excited to announce some improvements have been made, more "special" character action types has been added, and the ability to RESTORE from debloat lists is now supported! So let's talk about the special actions and what they do when placed inside the debloat lists:

    Special CharacterAction
    ^
Any text after this character will appear in the debloat list's description line when loaded into the Toolbox. It also supports multiple lines.
    #
This character (and any text after it) is ignored by the Toolbox and will be skipped. Basically, the Toolbox's equivalent of the comment character in other languages.
    +
This character can be used to output text to the screen. (one newline)
    ++
The same as the + character except two newlines will be added after the text instead of 1.
    ListType=
This line indicates what function the debloat list will perform. The supported types are: debloat, or restore. Can be placed anywhere in the list.

Improvements have also been made to the Manage Amazon Apps subtool's UI. When loading the debloat list it's path will now be displayed in the preset box, the description and package list boxes now have scrollbars enabled if needed, and the boxes now scroll with the middle mouse when the cursor hovers over them. Pretty neat stuff, right?

    Lockscreen Management Additions and Reworks

Dropping on in as a new subtool we have the Change Lockscreen Security Type subtool. This subtool is designed for you folks who would like to use a different form of Security Type... maybe a pattern, or a simple swipe suites you better? However, despite this new addition, please note that this subtool will only work if your tablet has the hidden security activity within the Settings app. If not, I'm afraid it's impossible to change the security type without root.

Alright, let's move on to the new rework for the Custom Lockscreen Wallpaper. This rework is aimed at gens 8 and above, and involves a new method. Instead of using the Prime Photos app to change the wallpaper, this new method utilizes our favorite automation app... Automate! If you can't tell... I absolutely love this app because of how flexible, optimized, and functional it is. Anyways, In order to achieve the desired effect (custom lockscreen wallpaper) the subtool asks the user for the desired home/lockscreen wallpapers, pushes them to the tablet's internal SD Card, installs Automate, pushes a pre-created flow, imports the flow into Automate, and informs the user how to finish setting it up. Now, I'm going to go against the magician's code and reveal how the magic trick works... lol...

When it comes to newer versions of Android, it's important to know that the OS just uses the home screen wallpaper for the lockscreen's wallpaper. So, essentially we are taking advantage of this mechanic and using Automate to await the power button press, then the homescreen wallpaper is set to the user defined lockscreen wallpaper (the one specified by the user in the Toolbox), then Automate awaits the "user_present" broadcast (user unlocks the tablet), and then sets the home screen wallpaper (the one specified by the user in the Toolbox), and then the cycle repeats. Not too shabby huh?

What's also cool is if you decide to change the wallpapers at anytime, you can do so by re-executing the subool in the Toolbox. The Toolbox will then check to see if the tool has been executed before, and if so it will only push the new wallpapers and skip the other steps! Pretty neat if you ask me.

    New Way of Navigating Pages

The > icon for going to the next page has been replaced with a radio button. Not only did the icon change, but the speed at which the pages change has also been improved. Instead of relying on a second form, page 2 has been moved to a panel making it quicker to switch between page 1 and page 2 quicker. I've also taken the liberty of adding a message that will help teach the user how to navigate to page 2 and back to page 1. Let me know what you guy's think of this change. Feedback is always appreciated!
    Page-Navigation.gif

    Google Services

Oh, Google Services, the never ending story! Despite the checks being added last update I decided to attempt to rework the download method to hopefully fix the download hang error. I also took the liberty of adding in a notification regarding the potential issues with the tool... (hopefully this somewhat helps @Falcon342, and @blaacksheep!)

However, after releasing this update I may have some suspicions as to what might actually be causing the error... perhaps this guy here:
    APKMirror_Cloudflare.png

Hey, that's not everything! Take a look at the changelog for more information:
    Fire Toolbox V20.0 - Changelog

    • [Main Menu] Improved the speed of page switching, and added notification demonstrating how to switch between pages.
    • [Device Detection] Added support for Windows 11 to the OS driver check function.
    • [Google Services] Added notification about potentially encountering tool issues.
    • [Google Services] Reworked download method to hopefully fix the bug causing the download to hang.
    • [Custom Keyboard] Added OpenBoard and Google Keyboard to the list of supported keyboards.
    • [Hybrid Apps] Added fallback method to ensure if checking for updates fails then ensure hybrid apps can still be downloaded and installed.
    • [Lockscreen Management] Added the Change Lockscreen Security Type subtool.
    • [Lockscreen Management] Replaced the 8+ gen Prime Photos method with the Automate method for the Custom Lockscreen Wallpaper subtool.
    • [General] Various under the hood improvements and bug fixes.
    • [Sideload Apps] Replaced blacklist/whitelist permission granting method with native adb permission granting.
Well, what are you waiting for? Head on over to the Downloads section of the OP or feel free to update using the Toolbox Updater if you've installed a previous version of the Toolbox before!

As always guys, you folks are just amazing and I just want to take the time to thank you for being so caring, so nice, and so hopeful to each other and me. I really do appreciate the support, donations, and kindness you guys continue to give/show and I'm so lucky to have the chance to meet/interact with you all when i can! Thanks for EVERYTHING guys! It really does mean the world! :D

Well, that's all I got for now... until next time guys! Peace!✌️

Probably off topic, but could Fire Toolbox have a All App Cache and junk cleaner?

    would be really handy :D
    3
@Datastream33 this may be beyond the scope of the toolbox, but it would be great if Private DNS could be made available. Since Fire OS 7 is Android 9 based could it be hidden or disabled in code? Private DNS is a great way to add adblocking without root.
i highly doubt Private DNS is anywhere hidden in FireOS's code, i have looked through a bunch of hidden settings and have never seen a trace of Private DNS,

You dont need to change your DNS to have ad blocking, just use DNS66 or Blokada.

Just wondering if you meant squished in portrait? The only used the two spaces because I’m predominantly in landscape and it looks fine for me.
I meant landscape. There were a couple people with problems. It was just something to play with if you had any spacing issues. Since that post @Datastream33 has released v19 of Toolbox and added some things to the navbar tool so you can play with the spacing there too.

    Fire Toolbox V20.0

    All-In-One Toolbox for Fire Tablets!
    ═══════════════════════════════════

    FTB17.PNG

    What is the Fire Toolbox?

The Fire Toolbox is a collection of useful ADB (Android Debug Bridge) tweaks that can be applied to Amazon's Fire Tablets. The Toolbox project aims to help users fully customize and unlock the full potential of their tablets by putting all the power into their hands.
The Toolbox doesn't touch the system partition meaning all changes made can be reversed either through the tools/subtools themselves or through a factory reset. This means the Toolbox does NOT void your warranty.

In this forum, you may hear the word "generation" being used when talking about Fire Tablets. Just know that "generation" effectively means the same as "what year was the tablet manufactured?". This may seem confusing and as a result a reference table has been provided for you below.

    Getting Started:

Getting the Toolbox up and running with your tablet is surprisingly a very easy procedure. The only thing required is for you to enable Developer Options and ADB on your tablet. So, without further ado, let's get started.

At this point, please read the section below, and make sure to follow the correct guide that is made for your tablet on how to set up the device so it works with the Toolbox.

    FIRE HD 7, 8, 10 (2018 - 2021) Guide:
    1. Turn on your tablet and go to Settings > Device Options > About Fire Tablet and tap on the Serial Number until you unlock Developer Options.
    2. Press the back button and find the new Developer Options and toggle it on.
    3. Scroll down till you find USB Debugging and enable it.
    4. Download the latest version of the Toolbox from the Downloads section of this page and install it onto your PC.
    5. *Plug your tablet into your computer and allow Windows to install the necessary drivers (if you haven't done so already).
    * If you are on Windows 8.1 or below the drivers for "Fire" WILL FAIL. This is normal and is to be expected.
    6. Open the Toolbox and wait for it to setup the environment and start ADB (It may appear that the Toolbox is frozen, just please give it a second).
    7. If you are on Windows 8.1 or below the Toolbox will inform you that additional driver setup is required and will ask for your permission to download and install the required drivers. Click the "Yes" button, wait for the download to finish and follow the driver setup. If this for some reason doesn't work, please follow this guide to manually install the drivers.
    8. At this point, If drivers are setup properly... the Toolbox will inform you that the "device isn't authorized. Please authorize your device now."
    9. On your tablet, you should see a new prompt asking if you want to Allow USB Debugging and should show the computer's RSA key fingerprint. Tick the box that says "Always allow from the computer" and hit ok.
That's it, the Toolbox should recognize your tablet and will take you to the main menu. Enjoy!

    FIRE HD 6, 7, 8, 10 (2014 - 2017) Guide:
    1. Turn on your tablet and go to Settings > Device Options and tap on the Serial Number until you unlock Developer Options.
    2. Find the new Developer Options and tap on it.
    3. Scroll down till you find Enable ADB and enable it.

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    1. I don't see my tablet listed in the supported devices, how can I request support to be added?

    * For the requested tablet to be supported, we need a little more information from you in order to add support. Please download this .zip file, extract the folder within the zip to the desktop, and run the Identify.bat (make sure your tablet is plugged into the PC) file to get the code name of the device. Once the code name is found by the tool, press any key to copy it to the clipboard. Now reply to the forum with the code name, and the tablet's complete name. See the example below for reference:
    Code:
    Tablet: Amazon Fire HD8 (2018)[/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT]
    [INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT]Device Codename: karnak
    * Please note that any devices produced before 5th generation unfortunately cannot receive support. I'd recommend visiting the forum for your device and rooting if possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    2. What does the error "one of more ADB enabled devices are connected. please remove all devices except a supported amazon fire device." mean?
This error occurs when more then one ADB enabled devices are connected to your computer. Because multiple devices are connected, the Toolbox isn't sure which device to send the commands to so it simply closes and asks that you remove all ADB devices except the Fire Tablet. You may see the following terms being used in the PLUGGED IN list the Toolbox provides:
    Code:
    G0W0xxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is likely your Amazon Fire Tablet. Furthermore, any connected device connected via a usb cable to your computer will likely be a single string (such as the one shown above) and will not contain any special characters.
    Code:
    emulator-xxxx
This likely means an Android emulator is running on your system. Ensure programs like Bluestcks, Nox, Android Studio, Genymotion, LDPlayer, Virtualbox (emulating android), etc aren't running in the background while attempting to use the Toolbox.
    Code:
    192.168.0.xx
This means a device is connected to your computer via TCP/IP (wireless debugging) and has ADB debugging (USB Debugging) enabled. Ensure all devices that run Android in your household are either disconnected from the network temporary, or ADB Debugging (USB Debugging) is disabled. Examples of Android devices that may have ADB enabled: Fire TV, Android TV, phones, tablets, etc.

    3. How can I remove a Google Account from my tablet?
Because of the missing accounts section in the Settings app it will be a little more difficult to remove Google Accounts directly from the tablet. The easiest way that I've found is to visit this page: https://myaccount.google.com/security, sign-in to your Google Account, scroll down to "Your Devices" and click the "Manage devices" button. From the list of devices find your tablet and in the upper right-corner click the 3-dot icon and from the list select "Sign out".

    4. How can I run the Toolbox on Linux?
Something may be in the works... 🤫 ;)
However, at the moment, the best way to run the Toolbox on Linux is to use VMWare and emulate Windows.

    5. Will this tool root my tablet?
Unfortunately, the Toolbox is not yet capable of rooting any of the supported devices. There are plans to include root methods for a few select tablets but will take some time before they are ready.

    6. Why is the Toolbox being marked as a virus?
The Toolbox (and it's installer) isn't signed with a software license and therefore your computer isn't sure who the publisher is which may worry some anti-viruses, effectively producing a false positive that flags the Toolbox as a virus. The same issue goes for Windows smart screen as well. As always, I take your security and privacy VERY seriously! If you do not feel safe with installing the Toolbox due to virus concerns, I respect and support your decision. It is always up to the user and their judgment! :D

    7. Where did the Changelog go?
Due to the changelog's length it has been given its own post entirely. You can find it here.

    8. I found a bug/issue in the Toolbox, how do I report it?
You may leave a post on this forum. Please include the error/issue and possible ways to replicate it, then copy down the error information (if the Toolbox presents any) and paste it as a post here on the forum. If you could also share a screenshot or video that would also help greatly. In addition, please make sure to also include what tablet you have and what tool the error is coming from and I will do my best to fix it ASAP. Thanks!

    Amazon Fire Toolbox Meets VB.NET

New Year, New Language, New Toolbox

    Toolbox-VB.png

    What's up guys?

First off I want to say that this will be quite the lengthy post. Please bare with me.

If you aren't aware, today is a very special occasion. Today marks the 1-year anniversary of the Amazon Fire Toolbox! :victory:

Let's go back in time to the very beginning and see how the Amazon Fire Toolbox was first developed.

It all started with this post. The removal of ads from the lock screen on all Fire devices. A simple string located in the Android Settings Database governing the lock screen ads was all it took. At that point, I knew what I had found was very important and thus shared it with the XDA community. However, some commands were needed to run and a few permissions for Automate were required to get things up and running. I've always strived to make things as easy as possible. So I sought after creating a batch file complete with a UI and everything... just to automate the permission granting, and automate installation so less tech-savy people could run the adblocker with ease. So, I fired up Notepad and began to write out this script. While I was doing this I decided to see what other things I could tweak on the tablet. So, I began to change things... "What if I could automate the installation of Google Services?", "what if I could automate this... what about this... perhaps this"? and on and on. At this point, I realized I could make the automation script for the adblocker something even bigger.

As a result, I scrapped the automation script I already had and began to develop what I called "The Amazon Fire Toolbox". An all-in-one tool for Fire Tablets that could put the control back in the user's hands. The community over here on XDA reacted quite positive about it and encouraged me to keep going... to make it better. Because of you all is the reason why the Toolbox is as expansive as it is today. You guys made it happen!

Release after release the Toolbox grew, and so did its impact. Today we are on Version 6.5 and so many new features have seen the light of day. it's just so crazy to think that this small project has gotten this big. Sure, we've suffered through some hard times, with a few features not working, the Toolbox being marked unfairly as a virus, and just things, in general, were broken... but you guys stuck with me through it all and I want to say thank you!

Now here is where things are taking a turn for 2020. The Toolbox will now be shifted over from the batch programming language to VB.NET! I'm hoping with this transition the Toolbox will thrive even more. My reason for doing this is because like a gentleman here on XDA pointed out... the Toolbox deserves so much more. In addition, the Toolbox will run on PCs that aren't running English (this time you don't need to do anything special to get it to work), I'm planning on coding it in such a way that the Toolbox may be able to run under Linux using Wine, and best of all, because the UI is made in Visual Basic we no longer need the button injector, therefore, the Toolbox shouldn't alarm AVs any longer.

Now, please note that the Toolbox is still being developed and a lot of features aren't present. However, I will be releasing an installer here on XDA that will allow you to install the VB version of the Toolbox and check out what is/isn't working all for evaluation purposes. When the Toolbox is stable and finished I will release it here on XDA for download.

See how the Toolbox has grown since launch:

What do you guys think about this? Is it a step in the right direction? What would you like to see in the new version of the Toolbox? Please share your thoughts with me, I'd love to hear them!

HERES TO A HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE TOOLBOX!

    [UPDATE]Amazon Fire Toolbox V7.2

What's up guys? I hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday so far and you are safe and healthy!

Firstly, I want to give thanks to all of you who have been so patient with me and I also want to give a huge thanks to those of you who wished me luck on the cert exam. I'm happy to say that I passed and am now MTA network certified! Thanks so much for all the support! :D

Now brace yourself! It's gonna be a long post! :p

With that being said, today marks the release of the Amazon Fire Toolbox V7.2 update! In today's release a few bugs have been dealt with, some of the UIs have been reworked, some tools have received new subtools/enhancements, and new device models are now supported.

Alright, let's take a quick look at the highlights of the V7.2 update. Probably the most important out of the lot is the support for the new 2020 models has been added. Please let me know how things go with these tablets and if you come across any issues with any of the tools while tweaking these tablets.

There has been a lot of talk of custom wallpapers for the lockscreen and how to achieve the goal of applying the wallpapers to the lockscreen easily. Fortunately, in this update support for setting custom wallpapers has been added to the Lockscreen Wallpaper tool. This subtool is designed to automate most of the process of setting a custom image for you (however, some manual steps are required, but the Toolbox will walk you through it). Unfortunately, this method only works for generations 8 and above. I'm currently looking into a solution for gens 7-4.

Now let's talk User Management. The method of storing users created by the Toolbox has been re-written and instead of storing the users on the local PC, they are stored on the tablet itself. This should prevent the Toolbox from showing the users list on a tablet where those users don't actually exist. In addition, the subtool Switch Users has been added. NOTE: THIS SUBTOOL MUST BE USED TO SWITCH FROM A CUSTOM USER TO THE DEFAULT USER OR THE CUSTOM USER MAY BE REMOVED BY THE SYSTEM!

Next, we have the Manage Everything Amazon tool changes. Because of the revamped User Management tool it is now possible to debloat custom users using the Disable/Hide Amazon subtool and even the Restore Everything Amazon subtool will work with custom users. Enjoy!

Finally, we have changes to the Settings. When you open Toolbox V7.2 for the first time you will find that the settings icon has changed from the [:] to a cog icon. It's also important to know that the Settings UI has been revamped. I will let you take a look for yourself. Hope you like it!

Hey, that's not all that changed! If you are interested in everything that the update has to offer, feel free to take a look at the changelog below for more information:

NOTE: When you first start the Toolbox it will appear to be frozen and unresponsive. This is due to the Toolbox setting up the environment and starting ADB for the first time. As a result, please do NOT close out of the Toolbox. It should be responsive again in the next 10 seconds. Please also keep in mind that first startup is the only time this should occur. Thank you for your understanding.

If you are ready to download the new update head on over and visit the Downloads section of the OP.

Again, thank you all for being so patient and understanding! I REALLY appreciate it and would like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I'd also like to give a huge shoutout to the wornderful folks who have been donating! YOU GUYS ARE THE MVP! THANK YOU SO MUCH! :highfive:
