What version of Windows are you running? Do you have the latest .NET Framework including updates? That could be your problem.
windows 10 and i clicked check updates and nothing was amiss. I just updated to the latest fireOs and I still can't manually install APKs. hmmm...

For reference, this is the error message:

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />

I don't know what version of .NET is required by the toolbox. Datastream would know, maybe others who are more familiar would also. I've got Win7 with .Net 4.8 and all ESU updates through July. No problems here.

edit: That error report looks an awful lot like the last couple I've seen here. It does appear that you have .NET 4.8 so I guess that's not the problem. Maybe someone who reads these things all day can make some sense of it. :)

Well i did get it up and running but i disabled something important and broke FireOS, i factory reset and got setup again and managed not to break it this time,

i decided to make another custom debloat list if anybody wants it:

(This debloat list disables a bunch of bloat while keeping the Amazon Appstore)
Thanks for the list. This is probably my easiest solution. I updated to latest FireOS and it put appstore back so I installed Disneyplus from there. It works! I ran your debloat file through the Manage Amazon Apps option, but looks like I still have apps like Amazon kids and Alexa up.

Glad my new list worked for you, Im not sure why Amazon Kids is still present its definitely on the list, Alexa does still appear in the settings for me but i doubt it works because anything Alexa related should have be disabled

TL;DR - Goodreads without Amazon registration. How?

I used the toolbox on a new HD 8 from this year, debloated and running great. I went to install goodreads from the google playstore but it doesn't install correctly. I'm assuming that I have to reenable that from the factory installed apps. But will it work if I never registered by tablet with Amazon? I'd rather not.

You cant use the Google Play versions of preinstalled apps,

your forced to register with Amazon in order to access Goodreads
(from what i can tell but i havent done much testing)

I modifed my debloat list to hopefully keep Goodreads and any other apps Goodreads will depend on whilst disabling other uneeded apps,

if you choose to run this list i recommend restoring all disabled apps before running this.
(i dont use Goodreads so i havent tested this list, but nothing should break)

Hmm, great find my friend!

The reason why there is no set default launcher option in the Settings is because Amazon wants you to use Fire Launcher and funny enough, on a select few tablet's an activity in the Settings app actually exists to change the default launcher. However, when changing to any other launcher besides Fire Launcher nothing happens.

However, we can easily set the default launcher via ADB as a workaround. :)
Is the fire toolbox already setting the default launcher through adb, or is that an addition/change you're thinking of since it didn't seem to be getting set fully?

The way changing the launcher works is using ADB the toolbox disables Fire launcher and that forces the FireOS to let another launcher take over.

Yeah, there's a variable declared as a boolean... but it wants to be a string instead. Lol.

The micropatch was suppose to fix this oversight but ended up causing more problems then it fixed so it was removed. Instead the patch is planned to be shipped with the next update. However, we could try another micropatch (I'll post the file here instead of on the update server) and see if that works If you'd like.

ah it's ok I'm just glad there isn't something wrong on my end.

I did have a question about "best practices" for using the toolkit. I assume it's an inevitability that we need to update the FireOS (security fixes etc) and we will need to use the toolkit to disable everything again. Will it be possible to create like an auto scan and update/disable button. Like automatically update hybrid apps like Netflix and Disney.

Right now this is the second time I've having trouble installing a new version of Disney+. It says I have the latest version of 1.15 but it gives error messages so I thought I could uninstall my version and have the toolkit reinstall it. However, it kept thinking it was installed already. I eventually just used Amazon appstore to install it. This may be the most stable solution.

The way changing the launcher works is using ADB the toolbox disables Fire launcher and that forces the FireOS to let another launcher take over.
Interesting enough, you are both correct in your assumptions. @Falcon342 the OS certainly will fallback to any other launcher if it's the only one availiable... however, @gamingexpert13 is also correct because the launcher isn't actually set fully as the default. I've ran tests using the current version of the Toolbox V20.0 against a modified version of V20.0 with the adb code for setting the supported launchers as default and I can confirm @gamingexpert13's claims. The "Add to home screen" options do not appear in both Brave and Firefox unless the launcher is set as default using adb. In addition, once the launcher is set as default it cannot be uninstalled until another launcher is present, this isn't the case if V20.0 (current build) was to be used as the launcher is able to be uninstalled through normal means.

Hmm, that's strange... do you think it's possible that the Amazon Kids app on @azrael201's tablet has a different package name? Because I know a few apps on old gen (calendar, calculator, etc) have different package names then their new gen counterparts.

Ah, opening the list it seems the ListType variable is missing. Because this variable is missing the Toolbox won't perform any actions on the packages in the list. My bad, I should of informed about the importance of this variable but failed to do so. My apologies my good friend.

Try opening the debloat list in Notepad, and at the very bottom of the file add in this line:
Code:
ListType=debloat

Save the list, close Notepad, and try again. Please let me know how it goes! Thanks and best of luck! 🤞

I was having this same issue and I think I figured out why. Seems like after loading a custom launcher through the fire toolbox, the default launcher doesn't get fully set properly.

Problem: Chrome's "Add to Home screen" option is missing (after installing a custom launcher, like Nova).

Solution:
  • Install two launchers through Fire Toolbox, then press the tablet's home button (center/circular button on bottom-nav bar), select your preferred launcher, then tap "ALWAYS" to set it as default.
  • You can now uninstall the launcher you don't want (swipe up from the bottom to open the app drawer, long-press on the launcher icon, and there should be an Uninstall/trash icon).
The fire tablet doesn't seem to have an option in the system settings to switch/set your default launcher, which is probably part of the issue. An alternate solution would be to install an application like Home Switch by Stu Alsford from the google play store / aurora store and set your default launcher with that (without having to install a second launcher first). You can uninstall it afterward.

After properly setting the default launcher (and closing/restarting your browser), the "Add to Home screen" option in the top-right menu for most browsers will be visible now (for some--probably PWA--websites, Firefox's option will be called "Install", and the icon will launch the website without toolbars).

Thanks so much! Worked like a charm. However, I should mention that I had to restart the tablet (not just the browser) to get the "Add to homescreen" option.

just to make sure, the attached version removes Kindle app?
Yes it does disable the Kindle app, and i also chose to add the Amazon Appstore to this list,

i dont think Goodreads needs the Appstore, but if it does run the following command using the "ADB Shell" tool in the toolbox:

Code:
pm enable --user 0 com.amazon.venezia

Also i updated the file to fix this issue:

So if you downloaded the file already re-download it so you have the fixed version.

TBH security really doesnt seem to be that big of a issue on FireOS,
but i recently did a manual update (how to explained below) and didnt have anything re-enabled,

How i updated:

(i was forced to update this way because after running my extended debloat list it refused to check for updates even after i re-enabled OTA)

• First re-enabled OTA updates,

• Then download the lastest update file for your tablet from Amazon's website

• Move this file from your Downloads folder to the Internal Storage (the file cant be in any folder, just internal storage)

• Now go to System Updates in your Settings and you should see a install button, click that and it will check the update file then your tablet will reboot & install the update.

    What's going on guys?

Hope everyone had a fantastic Monday!

I'd firstly like to apologize for taking so long to release a new update. Life has just been crazy as of late, and I hadn't really had time to work on a new release. I'd just like to take the time to thank everyone for their continued patience and support! Anyway, let's take a look at what exactly V22.0 brings to the table.

    Custom Lockscreen Shortcuts

Taking lockscreen customization even further, we have the new Custom Lockscreen Shortcut subtool. This subtool grants the ability (on tablet's running Android 9) to switch up the left and right shortcuts at the bottom of the lockscreen to any app activity you so desire. Want a left swipe to open the browser? What about opening Google Assistant from the right shortcut? You can just that!

    CustomShortcuts.PNG

Improvements to the Google Services Tool

When it comes to this tool, it seems to cause the most problems and frustrations. In an effort to improve this tool, some changes have been made that should help make it a little more stable.

The Integrity check is now performed after every single download instead of after all downloads have been completed. This allows the Toolbox to easily compare the total expected bytes to the downloaded file, making re-downloads possible if a downloaded service doesn't pass the integrity check. As a result, this should help weed out corrupted downloads and provide for a smoother experience. In addition, the download links have also been updated to the latest versions to hopefully get around the downgrade installation error.

Joining our roster of themes, we have a brand-new theme dropping with V22.0. Let's just say... if you're a fan of the color red, I think you'll really enjoy this new theme. I don't know what it is about it... but it just looks so nice and soothing! Give it a try and let me know what you think about this new theme!

A New "Advanced" Way of Managing System/User Apps

This one's targeted at all you "power users" out there! This brand-new manual subtool addition to the Manage Amazon Apps parses through and retrieves all system apps installed... allowing the user to manage EVERY single system package instead of just a select few. As a result, make sure to be extremely careful, as disabling/hiding certain packages could cause a soft brick. In addition, the "User Apps" tab has been added, granting the ability to uninstall user apps directly from within the Toolbox!

    Internet Checks and Downloads

In this update, all download process will now check for a valid internet connection before attempting to download files. This will help prevent files from becoming corrupted or empty. The Toolbox Updater has also received the same checks... helping to prevent it from remaining open indefinitely due to missing connections.

Hold up... that's not everything this update has to offer! Please take a look at the changelog below to get the full scoop!
    Fire Toolbox V22.0 - Changelog

As usual, I'd like to show my gratitude and appreciation for you guys, as always! I just don't feel like I say it enough, and can't express how grateful I am for you guy's support, and interactions. As always, HUGE THANKS GOES OUT TO MY LOVELY DONATORS!! I really do APPRECIATE it and I feel so blessed! THANKS AGAIN!! :D

Huge shoutout also go out to my wonderful friends @Falcon342, and @blaacksheep for being kind of enough to test out the new manual application management subtool and being all around amazing people. Thanks guys! I really do appreciate the help you provided and all the time you've spent helping people out here on the forum with questions or any problems they may have. You guys are troopers!

Well, that's all I've got for now! Until next time, guys... have a great day/night, and I'll catch you guys later! Peace! ✌️

    What's going on, guys?

I sincerely hope everyone is a great Wendsday so far!

I'm highly ecstatic to announce that V23.0 has just been released! Let's take a closer look at what it offers, and talk a little about the highlights of tonight's release.

Taking Navigation Bar Customizations a Little Further!

As requested by a few of you lovely people here on the forum, it's now possible to change up the look of the icons by setting your very own!

The feature can be accessed from the Navigation Bar Modifier subtool. You should see a new button with the text "Customize Navbar Icons". Clicking the button will expand the window and show the icon modifier panel. In the panel you have the option to either specify the location of the icons individually for the home, recents, and back buttons, or you can use an Icon Pack to set all three paths at once. I'm planning on making some custom icon packs, so if you're interested, here is a link to them.

Icon Packs are directories that contain 3 files:
    1. home.png (icon for the home button)
    2. back.png (icon for the back button)
    3. recents.png (icon for the recents button)
Once you select an icon pack or browsed individually for an icon, you should see the icon(s) appear in their respectable boxes along with the path of the icons. If you're satisfied with the selection, then all you need to do is click the "Apply" button like normal. This will push the icons to the tablet and run the proper command to apply them along with your customize navbar layout.

What's cool is you can also specify different icons for different profiles as well! Customization at it's finest!

    A New Device Information!

Ever since the debut of the tool, I've felt like it could be improved upon. As a result, it was decided that I would try and improve it just a little. Firstly, the device picture in the right column was removed, (along with the device name) and replaced with the build.prop information. This should allow information to be more easily accessed if needed. In addition, 3 tabs were added to the left pane to help provide a way of grouping the information:
    1. Device - FireOS version, Android Version, codename, security patch, etc.
    2. Memory - Total ram, available ram.
    3. Battery - Battery level, battery technology, battery capacity.
I'm planning on expanding upon the information in these tabs to include more useful information in future updates. :D

Manage Amazon Apps (Manual) Improvements and Additions

Joining the list of apps in the simple manual selection subtool we have IMBd TV and the Files app. As for the Advanced subtool a database function has been added to allow packages to be identified and labeled more quickly. This effectively means, packages without labels can now be given one without having to update the Toolbox itself.

In addition, the manual subtools have been rewritten to now fully detect failures to disable/hide and will now appropriately notify of the failure instead of saying the procedure was successful. This should help clear up confusion.

Wait, that's not everything! Feel free to take a look at the changelog below for more juicy information about what's changed in V23.0:
    Fire Toolbox V23.0 - Changelog

    • [About] Fixed incorrect pathing to the ADB/Installation folders when clicking their respective "Open Directory" buttons.
    • [Install Debugger] Fixed missing error code not appearing when the debugger fails to install.
    • [Sideload Apps] Added "Reinstall" and "Downgrade" installation flags.
    • [Navigation Bar Modifier] Added the ability to set custom back, home, and recent icons.
    • [Device Information] Added the Device, Memory, and Battery tabs.
    • [Device Information] The build.prop information is now displayed in the right pane for easier access.
    • [Manage Amazon Apps] (Manual) Added the IMBd TV, and Files app to the manual (simple) app selection list for new gen devices.
    • [Manage Amazon Apps] (Manual) When an app fails to be disabled/hidden the Toolbox will properly inform you instead of notifying that it was successful.
    • [ADB Shell] You can now paste text into the prompt by simply right-clicking the command textbox.
    • [Play Services] Added support for changing play services download links for when they cease working.
    • [Toolbox Webbrowser] Back and Forward buttons have been added to the webrowser tools.
    • [Toolbox Updater] Added further fixes improvements to the micropatch process.
    • [Manage Amazon Apps] (Manaual - Advanced) Improved the labels for some of the unnamed system apps.
Ready to download and experience the awesomeness of V23.0? Head on over to the Downloads' section of the OP! Remember, because the Updater is receiving an upgrade, V23.0 must be installed via the Installer or extracted from the Portable version.

As always guys, you folks are just amazing, and I just want to take the time to thank you for being so caring, so nice, and so hopeful to each other and me. I really do appreciate the support, donations, and kindness you guys continue to give/show, and I'm so lucky to have the chance to meet/interact with you all when i can! Thanks for EVERYTHING, guys! It really does mean the world!

Well, that's all I got for now. Please have a fantastic day/night, and I'll see you folks later. Peace!✌️

Thanks @Falcon342 @blaacksheep to for the information you have brightened my day. :) ;)

    1. Great. Now you can try sideloading the AmazonDebugger.apk in the toolkit. It's in "%LocalAppData%\Datastream\Fire Toolbox V22.0\bin\Amazon Debugger"
Clicked on the sideload apps, found an app in amazon debugger folder, the second I clicked on sideload it was an instant error. No hesitation. Also tried installing it with APK installer but no luck. I tried but msg popped up saying app not installed.

Alright, let's see if we can get this resolved. :D🤞

Ok, let's firstly check to see if it's a system app or not:
    1. Open the Toolbox, and execute an ADB Shell.
    2. Uncheck the box next to "Run-as Debugger".
    3. Click the box after the $ to set the focus on the textbox.
    4. Enter in the following command and press enter:
      Code:
pm list packages -s | grep facebook
    5. Copy the output of the command, and please quote this post and include the output if you'd be so kind. Thanks!
lol... after playing with amazondebugger.apl file , toolbox does not recognize my tablet anymore... ok... will revisit tomorrow... appreciate your help internet stranger...
    2
    quick wrap up from yesterday:
    1. Nova launcher works
    2. Google services work.
    3. Hiding amazon apps does not work ( see attached)

    Today:
    3. When I try to sideload amazondebugger.apk, instant failure: "INSTALLATION FAILURE"
    4. When I try to use ADB shell and copy the code as per above I get (see attached )
    5. When I try to hide amazon crap ( see attached ). Idk why but pop congratulates with successful execution but in reality all amazon apps are still there.

if you got any other ideas lets do it, if not, I will just stick with all these amazon apps and make it work. thanx

quick update. I'm good to go. The key to success was installing Nova launcher before hiding all amazon apps. The minute I installed the Nova launcher, I went to manage amazon apps and it got rid off all of them. Yay. Excited. thanks again for assistance

    Fire Toolbox V23.0

    All-In-One Toolbox for Fire Tablets!
    ═══════════════════════════════════

    FTB_V23.0.PNG

    What is the Fire Toolbox?

The Fire Toolbox is a collection of useful ADB (Android Debug Bridge) tweaks that can be applied to Amazon's Fire Tablets. The Toolbox project aims to help users fully customize and unlock the full potential of their tablets by putting all the power into their hands.
The Toolbox doesn't touch the system partition meaning all changes made can be reversed either through the tools/subtools themselves or through a factory reset. This means the Toolbox does NOT void your warranty.

In this forum, you may hear the word "generation" being used when talking about Fire Tablets. Just know that "generation" effectively means the same as "what year was the tablet manufactured?". This may seem confusing and as a result a reference table has been provided for you below.

    screenshot-2020-12-15-174539-jpg.5158661

    Getting Started:

Getting the Toolbox up and running with your tablet is surprisingly a very easy procedure. The only thing required is for you to enable Developer Options and ADB on your tablet. So, without further ado, let's get started.

At this point, please read the section below, and make sure to follow the correct guide that is made for your tablet on how to set up the device so it works with the Toolbox.

    FIRE HD 7, 8, 10 (2018 - 2021) Guide:
    1. Turn on your tablet and go to Settings > Device Options > About Fire Tablet and tap on the Serial Number until you unlock Developer Options.
    2. Press the back button and find the new Developer Options and toggle it on.
    3. Scroll down till you find USB Debugging and enable it.
    4. Download the latest version of the Toolbox from the Downloads section of this page and install it onto your PC.
    5. *Plug your tablet into your computer and allow Windows to install the necessary drivers (if you haven't done so already).
    * If you are on Windows 8.1 or below the drivers for "Fire" WILL FAIL. This is normal and is to be expected.
    6. Open the Toolbox and wait for it to setup the environment and start ADB (It may appear that the Toolbox is frozen, just please give it a second).
    7. If you are on Windows 8.1 or below the Toolbox will inform you that additional driver setup is required and will ask for your permission to download and install the required drivers. Click the "Yes" button, wait for the download to finish and follow the driver setup. If this for some reason doesn't work, please follow this guide to manually install the drivers.
    8. At this point, If drivers are setup properly... the Toolbox will inform you that the "device isn't authorized. Please authorize your device now."
    9. On your tablet, you should see a new prompt asking if you want to Allow USB Debugging and should show the computer's RSA key fingerprint. Tick the box that says "Always allow from the computer" and hit ok.
That's it, the Toolbox should recognize your tablet and will take you to the main menu. Enjoy!

    FIRE HD 6, 7, 8, 10 (2014 - 2017) Guide:
    1. Turn on your tablet and go to Settings > Device Options and tap on the Serial Number until you unlock Developer Options.
    2. Find the new Developer Options and tap on it.
    3. Scroll down till you find Enable ADB and enable it.
Enjoy!

    Frequently Asked Questions:

    1. I don't see my tablet listed in the supported devices, how can I request support to be added?

    * For the requested tablet to be supported, we need a little more information from you in order to add support. Please download this .zip file, extract the folder within the zip to the desktop, and run the Identify.bat (make sure your tablet is plugged into the PC) file to get the code name of the device. Once the code name is found by the tool, press any key to copy it to the clipboard. Now reply to the forum with the code name, and the tablet's complete name. See the example below for reference:
    Code:
    Tablet: Amazon Fire HD8 (2018)[/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT]
    [INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT]Device Codename: karnak
    * Please note that any devices produced before 5th generation unfortunately cannot receive support. I'd recommend visiting the forum for your device and rooting if possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    2. What does the error "one of more ADB enabled devices are connected. please remove all devices except a supported amazon fire device." mean?
This error occurs when more then one ADB enabled devices are connected to your computer. Because multiple devices are connected, the Toolbox isn't sure which device to send the commands to so it simply closes and asks that you remove all ADB devices except the Fire Tablet. You may see the following terms being used in the PLUGGED IN list the Toolbox provides:
    Code:
    G0W0xxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is likely your Amazon Fire Tablet. Furthermore, any connected device connected via a usb cable to your computer will likely be a single string (such as the one shown above) and will not contain any special characters.
    Code:
    emulator-xxxx
This likely means an Android emulator is running on your system. Ensure programs like Bluestcks, Nox, Android Studio, Genymotion, LDPlayer, Virtualbox (emulating android), etc aren't running in the background while attempting to use the Toolbox.
    Code:
    192.168.0.xx
This means a device is connected to your computer via TCP/IP (wireless debugging) and has ADB debugging (USB Debugging) enabled. Ensure all devices that run Android in your household are either disconnected from the network temporary, or ADB Debugging (USB Debugging) is disabled. Examples of Android devices that may have ADB enabled: Fire TV, Android TV, phones, tablets, etc.

    3. How can I remove a Google Account from my tablet?
Because of the missing accounts section in the Settings app it will be a little more difficult to remove Google Accounts directly from the tablet. The easiest way that I've found is to visit this page: https://myaccount.google.com/security, sign-in to your Google Account, scroll down to "Your Devices" and click the "Manage devices" button. From the list of devices find your tablet and in the upper right-corner click the 3-dot icon and from the list select "Sign out".

    4. How can I run the Toolbox on Linux?
Something may be in the works... 🤫 ;)
However, at the moment, the best way to run the Toolbox on Linux is to use VMWare and emulate Windows.

    5. Will this tool root my tablet?
Unfortunately, the Toolbox is not yet capable of rooting any of the supported devices. There are plans to include root methods for a few select tablets but will take some time before they are ready.

    6. Why is the Toolbox being marked as a virus?
The Toolbox (and it's installer) isn't signed with a software license and therefore your computer isn't sure who the publisher is which may worry some anti-viruses, effectively producing a false positive that flags the Toolbox as a virus. The same issue goes for Windows smart screen as well. As always, I take your security and privacy VERY seriously! If you do not feel safe with installing the Toolbox due to virus concerns, I respect and support your decision. It is always up to the user and their judgment! :D

    7. Where did the Changelog go?
Due to the changelog's length it has been given its own post entirely. You can find it here.

    8. I found a bug/issue in the Toolbox, how do I report it?
You may leave a post on this forum. Please include the error/issue and possible ways to replicate it, then copy down the error information (if the Toolbox presents any) and paste it as a post here on the forum. If you could also share a screenshot or video that would also help greatly. In addition, please make sure to also include what tablet you have and what tool the error is coming from and I will do my best to fix it ASAP. Thanks!

    Amazon Fire Toolbox Meets VB.NET

New Year, New Language, New Toolbox

    Toolbox-VB.png

    What's up guys?

First off I want to say that this will be quite the lengthy post. Please bare with me.

If you aren't aware, today is a very special occasion. Today marks the 1-year anniversary of the Amazon Fire Toolbox! :victory:

Let's go back in time to the very beginning and see how the Amazon Fire Toolbox was first developed.

It all started with this post. The removal of ads from the lock screen on all Fire devices. A simple string located in the Android Settings Database governing the lock screen ads was all it took. At that point, I knew what I had found was very important and thus shared it with the XDA community. However, some commands were needed to run and a few permissions for Automate were required to get things up and running. I've always strived to make things as easy as possible. So I sought after creating a batch file complete with a UI and everything... just to automate the permission granting, and automate installation so less tech-savy people could run the adblocker with ease. So, I fired up Notepad and began to write out this script. While I was doing this I decided to see what other things I could tweak on the tablet. So, I began to change things... "What if I could automate the installation of Google Services?", "what if I could automate this... what about this... perhaps this"? and on and on. At this point, I realized I could make the automation script for the adblocker something even bigger.

As a result, I scrapped the automation script I already had and began to develop what I called "The Amazon Fire Toolbox". An all-in-one tool for Fire Tablets that could put the control back in the user's hands. The community over here on XDA reacted quite positive about it and encouraged me to keep going... to make it better. Because of you all is the reason why the Toolbox is as expansive as it is today. You guys made it happen!

Release after release the Toolbox grew, and so did its impact. Today we are on Version 6.5 and so many new features have seen the light of day. it's just so crazy to think that this small project has gotten this big. Sure, we've suffered through some hard times, with a few features not working, the Toolbox being marked unfairly as a virus, and just things, in general, were broken... but you guys stuck with me through it all and I want to say thank you!

Now here is where things are taking a turn for 2020. The Toolbox will now be shifted over from the batch programming language to VB.NET! I'm hoping with this transition the Toolbox will thrive even more. My reason for doing this is because like a gentleman here on XDA pointed out... the Toolbox deserves so much more. In addition, the Toolbox will run on PCs that aren't running English (this time you don't need to do anything special to get it to work), I'm planning on coding it in such a way that the Toolbox may be able to run under Linux using Wine, and best of all, because the UI is made in Visual Basic we no longer need the button injector, therefore, the Toolbox shouldn't alarm AVs any longer.

Now, please note that the Toolbox is still being developed and a lot of features aren't present. However, I will be releasing an installer here on XDA that will allow you to install the VB version of the Toolbox and check out what is/isn't working all for evaluation purposes. When the Toolbox is stable and finished I will release it here on XDA for download.

See how the Toolbox has grown since launch:

What do you guys think about this? Is it a step in the right direction? What would you like to see in the new version of the Toolbox? Please share your thoughts with me, I'd love to hear them!

HERES TO A HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE TOOLBOX!

Now brace yourself! It's gonna be a long post! :p

With that being said, today marks the release of the Amazon Fire Toolbox V7.2 update! In today's release a few bugs have been dealt with, some of the UIs have been reworked, some tools have received new subtools/enhancements, and new device models are now supported.

Alright, let's take a quick look at the highlights of the V7.2 update. Probably the most important out of the lot is the support for the new 2020 models has been added. Please let me know how things go with these tablets and if you come across any issues with any of the tools while tweaking these tablets.

There has been a lot of talk of custom wallpapers for the lockscreen and how to achieve the goal of applying the wallpapers to the lockscreen easily. Fortunately, in this update support for setting custom wallpapers has been added to the Lockscreen Wallpaper tool. This subtool is designed to automate most of the process of setting a custom image for you (however, some manual steps are required, but the Toolbox will walk you through it). Unfortunately, this method only works for generations 8 and above. I'm currently looking into a solution for gens 7-4.

Now let's talk User Management. The method of storing users created by the Toolbox has been re-written and instead of storing the users on the local PC, they are stored on the tablet itself. This should prevent the Toolbox from showing the users list on a tablet where those users don't actually exist. In addition, the subtool Switch Users has been added. NOTE: THIS SUBTOOL MUST BE USED TO SWITCH FROM A CUSTOM USER TO THE DEFAULT USER OR THE CUSTOM USER MAY BE REMOVED BY THE SYSTEM!

Next, we have the Manage Everything Amazon tool changes. Because of the revamped User Management tool it is now possible to debloat custom users using the Disable/Hide Amazon subtool and even the Restore Everything Amazon subtool will work with custom users. Enjoy!

Finally, we have changes to the Settings. When you open Toolbox V7.2 for the first time you will find that the settings icon has changed from the [:] to a cog icon. It's also important to know that the Settings UI has been revamped. I will let you take a look for yourself. Hope you like it!

Hey, that's not all that changed! If you are interested in everything that the update has to offer, feel free to take a look at the changelog below for more information:

    * Manage Everything Amazon: Users created by the User Management tool can now utilize Remove/Restore Everything Amazon.
    * Main Menu: The settings icon has been changed.

NOTE: When you first start the Toolbox it will appear to be frozen and unresponsive. This is due to the Toolbox setting up the environment and starting ADB for the first time. As a result, please do NOT close out of the Toolbox. It should be responsive again in the next 10 seconds. Please also keep in mind that first startup is the only time this should occur. Thank you for your understanding.
