Thanks for all your updates! I hadn't used my Fire 8 Tab 2018 for some months, and when I rebooted it the home and recent nav icons did not work when pressed, and not sure what to do I re-enabled updates and the icons disappeared entirely, also breaking Nova Launcher Beta 7. Thanks to your new toolbox items, I was able to restore the nav icons, but now I am back to the home and recent not working --only Back does anything when pressed. Is there a Fire system item that I may have disabled somehow? I think it was on "complete debloat" months ago, but I tried simple debloat after the update to 7.3.2.1, and the tablet works fine other than the home and recent buttons, which are kind of essential. Is there anything I can do to avoid a complete restore to factory defaults? Thanks again
Greetings!

Yeah, I've noticed this can happen on rare occurrences. To resolve the issue we'll need to *delete a certain string from the settings database. Please open the Toolbox, launch an ADB Shell, and execute the following command:
Code:
settings delete secure sysui_nav_bar

After executing the command, I'd recommend to reboot the tablet. Once the tablet is rebooted, you should now be able to reapply your custom icons and your home/back buttons should now be working again as intended.

* - WARNING: This will remove your custom icons and navigation bar layout, so please proceed with caution.

Hi friends, I have an issue with Amazon ToolBox installing Google Services
Tablet is Amazon Fire HD10 2021
Plz see a screen
How to fix it?
Greetings!

Looks like one Play Services didn't download correctly. Let's try deleting the APK and see if that helps:
  • Please launch the Toolbox.
  • Click the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner to launch the Settings window.
  • Click the About tab.
  • In the About Application window click the "Open Installation Directory" button.
  • In File Explorer double click the bin directory, then double-click the Google Services subdirectory.
  • Now delete all APKs (except for GAssist.apk) in the directory.
After deleting the files, please try installing Google Services again. If it doesn't work this time please see this post. Best of luck! :D

Ok, I'm feeling a little stupid right now. So, regarding the Play Services issue a lot of you are facing right now... it turns out I updated the wrong link and had it pointed to an older version of play services for some reason. I've fixed the link and it should work now. I'm sorry for the inconvenice. Could you guys please test it and let me know how it goes? (you may need to delete the PlayServices9.0.apk file in the bin\Google Services folder before retrying, see the post above for instructions) Just want to make sure I make this right. Thanks guys!

Hey thanks for getting back to me.
I did that, and rebooted and reloaded the icons, but only the back one works. Touching Home or Recents registers an impression (a ghostly after image? Maybe something I enabled by mistake in Dev options? But I can see where my finger touches the navbar, a glow lights up wherever I press), but nothing actually happens still.

After deleting the APK file as instructed, Toolbox reported success, but I had nothing back on tablet. (2019 10)

Prior to your post and the other post, I...

Tried Clear Data/Cache for play services
Uninstall Play Services
Update Play Services: Reinstall (21.36.14)

With nothing showing on tablet, I tried uninstall/clear data again.

Now, all I can do is clear data and cache and uninstall (even though I've already uninstalled and restarted the tablet) there is no option to install:

Having Google Play issues as well. Error messages when I try and use basically any of the options, including installing a custom launcher. Not sure what the issue is, tried deleting the apk like mentioned earlier.

As the error says you probably have another Android device or emulator connected/installed

If you have a Android emulator installed kill it via task manager, restart the toolbox then try to use the toolbox,

If you have another Android device connected, disconnect it, restart the toolbox then try to use the toolbox.

Amazon fire 10 tablet. Been working fine with toolbox for months. Now all of a sudden my home/back buttons at the bottom are gone. I can still press them, just the visibility of the button (the triangle/circle/square) are gone.

Help? I'd prefer not to factory reset so I don't have to download all my kids games again.

I saw this question before just wondering if there's an updated answer to it?

@musbasura,
I had this happen a couple times. If you haven't already tried the below, this is what got the softkeys back from me.

1. Open the toolbox and go to the 2nd page/menu.
2. Open the Modify System settings and select the system UI Tab.
3. Then select "Execute" in system ui customizer. It is at the bottom.
4. Then across the top part of the menu click Navigation Bar Modifier
5. Go down to the PRESET drop down and select Android Default and click apply. This is the Preset for the softkeys. This should give you back the default softkeys.
**If Android Default doesn't work, select any of the other presets and click apply, and it should take. Then you can select Android Default to get the stock softkey layout**.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for this !!! The actual presets didn't work (I think my kid maybe deleted the icons or something) but I ended up uploading new icons I found and that worked , I also had to play with the space and padding so it ended up like this:

First of all thank you for this fantastic tool!

I experience an issue when trying to install Google Services on my Fire HD 10 Plus (2021). The step "installing Play services" fails with an INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK issue:

View attachment 5436183

The other steps succeed, but without Play Services the Play Store doesn't work. I've already tried to delete the APKs from the FTB directory, delete the other Google apps from the tablet, and retry, but with the same result. Is this a known issue?
This is really weird. Do you have by any chance some other device with Android 12? The PlayServices9.0.apk is referring to SDK #31, which is Android 12, while Fire HD 10 (2021) runs Android 9, which is SDK #28.
So I wonder how it could happen, that Toolbox downloaded apk for Android 12.

Ok, I'm feeling a little stupid right now. So, regarding the Play Services issue a lot of you are facing right now... it turns out I updated the wrong link and had it pointed to an older version of play services for some reason. Are you sure it pointed to the older version? According to a report above, it pointed to apk requiring SDK #31, which is the latest and greatest.

In case Toolbox downloads apks according to some hardwired links it could explain where can be an issue with play services auto-updates on Fire HD 10 (2021). I thought Toolbox detects Android version and architecture from the connected device and downloads matching apks. If that's not the case and you thought it runs 32bit OS, while it seems to run 64bit OS, it might explain issues we are having.
I would bet that if you install 32bit play services apk it works just fine on 64bit OS, but when it tries to update itself, it downloads 64bit apk and then it somehow fails during the update.
I mean in case the apk downloaded by toolbox is "armeabi-v7a Android 9.0+" instead of "arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a Android 9.0+", this is probably the issue.
At least I didn't have an issue with the auto-update of play services since I manually sideloaded apk for "arm64-v8a + armeabi-v7a". I just checked my tablet and I now have version 21.39.16 (100400-402663742) and everything seems to work fine, while I sideloaded 21.36.55, so auto-update seems to be working fine now.

Open the "ADB Shell" tool and run:

Code:
pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.kso

Or disable the "Special Offers" app using the "Manage Amazon Apps" tool.

I do have a device with Android 12, but it wasn't connected to this computer and FTB was definitely connected to the Fire throughout the process.

I did manage to get the correct version of Play Services on the Fire using https://www.androidpolice.com/2021/06/21/install-play-store-amazon-fire-tablet.

Greetings!

I'm not sure if you've resolved the issue using @Falcon342's helpful advice or not. but I figured I'd drop this post in case someone else has the issue as well.

It looks like the code in the Run button's click event was deleted on accident (sounds like something I'd screw up). It's been fixed and the build has been attached below in a .zip file. Please download and extract the .zip file to the Toolbox's root directory (if you aren't sure where the installation is you can open the Toolbox, click the gear icon at the top-right to open Settings, then click the About button, and from there click Open Installation Directory), if it asks you if you'd like to replace Fire Toolbox.exe please allow it to do so. That should the trick and I'm really sorry about the inconvenience my friend!

Is support for the 4th Gen HDX 8.9 possible (2014)?

It now runs Fire OS 5.6.8 which is based on Android 5 (I think the oldest HD models are also Android 5.)
Greetings!

Let's first see what exact version of Android they are running. Could you please download and extract the IdentifyAndroidVer.zip to the desktop and run the Identify.bat file with your tablet plugged in. This will give us the exact android version (and codename) and based on that value we'll go from there. Thanks friend! :D

Hi, thanks, just did that, but only the back button appears. In the middle there's an elliptical space that does not resppond to touch, and the recents icon is gone entirely:

Just wanted to say thank you for this Toolbox, and this entire community. Everyone here is amazing and so helpful. Wish the entirety of society could be as productive and courteous as XDA communities are. Got my tablet how I want it (I love customizing Android), and it looks and runs amazing. I'm installing KWGT on top of Nova, and installing my favorite icons and custom widgets as we speak.

    Thanks again.

I got a new Fire HD10 and just ran Fire Toolbox. Unfortunately, I had already registered the tablet and updated to the latest Fire OS version 7.3.2.2.

Everything still worked, except defaulting to a custom launcher. I guess in the latest Fire OS release, the firelauncher is a protected package and cannot be disabled. I’m using Nova launcher but am not able to set it as the default launcher. Are there any workarounds to using a custom launcher?

Does anyone know if choosing to Not Sign In will stop OTA updates? My Fire 10HD is on 7.3.2.2 at this point.

I only bought this fire hd10 because of the $79 Black Friday deal honestly. With my luck If I exchanged it will probably be updated when new one arrives. Still seems like a decent tablet when most of the Amazon stuff is off of it. It runs Stadia flawlee over 5 ghz wifi and browses internet and runs many apps. And thanks to Fire Toolbox I got YouTube Vanced Dark running. Would love a custom launcher though and to lock OTA updates

I know there's a lot of posts here, but people keep asking the same questions. Please take the time to read back at least a few pages, because your question may have already been answered.

    Once again:

My best advice is return it to Amazon and get another (another color is a good excuse). Check the box to NOT link it to your Amazon account. Don't update the replacement, but instead set the new one up without accessing WiFi. (Easy to do. Just back out of the screen asking for wifi password and "skip" will be offered.) Activate debugging and run the Toolbox on it to at least disable OTA updates. Then you can connect to WiFi and set the rest up as you wish. You can now link the device to Amazon if you are going to use any Amazon services. The reason to order unlinked is that it will know your wifi password when you get it if linked, connect to your WiFi, and update itself before you even know about it.
    2
Just a thought, as I've never done it on an Amazon tablet. Would it not be possible to save a ROM that has a previous OS on it, then flash it over one of the updated tablets?
No, Amazon implements downgrade protection so this might result in a bricked device.
    2
This may have been answered but my issue seems to happen upon restart, the ads go away on the lockscreen but after a restart the appear back, and nova launcher wont set as default either though I was able to get the play store on it but the fire UI still seems to be there.

    Greetings!

Try running the following command in an ADB Shell and see if this works:

    New gen tablets (2018 - 2021):
    Code:
    pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.kindle.kso

    Old gen tablets (2014 - 2017):
    Code:
    pm hide com.amazon.kindle.kso

As for Nova Launcher not setting as default you are probably on FireOS 7.3.2.2 if you cant change the default launcher, you might be able change the navigation bar to a app like this
Not exactly what you asked I know but this one works pretty.

I've set Swipe from RightEdge -> Back

Swipe from Left edge -> Google Now

    Swipe Up -> Start Lawnchair

    Far Swipe Up -> Recents
And have it set to open Nova instead of the stock launcher.
    1
I used the Toolbox to remove ads from my tablet, and block OTA yesterday. The tablet hasn't updated, but today the ads are back on my lockscreen. Did I miss a step? Also, how do I get the Toolbox to redo the whole setup process like I'm running it for the first time again?
    Greetings!

Try running the following command in an ADB Shell and see if this works:

    New gen tablets (2018 - 2021):
    Code:
    pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.kindle.kso

    Old gen tablets (2014 - 2017):
    Code:
    pm hide com.amazon.kindle.kso

As far as your second question goes, all you need to do is open the Toolbox's settings window (click the cog in the upper-right hand corner of the Main Menu),
and in the Startup tab check the box next to "Welcome Screen". Once the box is checked, the Toolbox will notify you that a restart is required. You can either click the restart button, or close out of the Toolbox and re-launch it. That should do the trick. :D

Please let us know if you need further help or have any other questions. Have a good one!

    Alright, time to get serious...

    IMG_20211124_024322.resized.jpg
    9
    What's going on, guys?

I hope everyone had a great Halloween, and an even better Tuesday!

Back with another awesome update! Let's dive in and get a firsthand look at what makes this update so "awesome"!

    An Alternative Backup Solution

Google introduced ADB Backup in 2011 and was praised (rightfully so) for its ease of use and effectiveness of backing up apps, app data, and the internal storage. However, as time went on, support for adb backup decreased and the tool is now deprecated. It's not known when Google will finally drop the tool completely, so I figured why not emulate some of that backup function using other functions of ADB and make our own little backup solution?

When you execute the System Backup tool, you'll now be presented with three options:
    1. Internal Storage - Backup ALL files on the internal storage.
    2. User Apps - Pulls and saves all user installed apps.
    3. Settings Database - Backup ALL entries in the System, Secure, and Global database tables.
Once the desired options are selected, the Toolbox will then do its thing and will create a .7z archive containing the backup information. This .7z archive is then saved in the Toolbox's bin\System Backups folder. You can then use this backup to restore the specified items later down the line. Pretty cool, right?

    Manage Amazon Apps (Simple) Improvements

As requested, when navigating through the list of apps using the arrow keys, the Toolbox will now mark all red apps as "Not Recommended" to help users using Narrator (or other screen readers) to more easily identify apps that shouldn't be disabled/hidden. In addition, the issues causing a crash to occur when attempting to hide packages on older gen devices has been fixed. The tool is also now capable of reading the hidden apps, and will now remove them from the apps list and add them to the restore list.

Anyone Need Contacts and Calendar Sync?

Well, then I have terrific news for you! In tonight's update, the Play Services tool has been updated to include options to install Contacts/Calendar sync along with Play Services. These are the fundamental services that should allow your contacts and calendar events to successfully come through to your Fire Tablet. In addition, some improvements have been made under the hood of the tool to hopefully make installation and downloading more stable - Once you install the micropatch that is!

System UI Customizer and the Navigation Bar Modifier

You know, I love these tools to death... but I've always had one problem with the tool. While it's cool to Drag n' Drop, it can be kind of frustrating when you realize you want an item in a different place, and you have to drag and drop each item to the other pane again just to move one item. Well, this problem is no more! Simply select the item you want to move, and press either the up arrow key to move the item up, or press the down arrow key to move it down! It's that simple!

Hey, you want to hear about another frustrating thing that's been made simpler? Well, let's discuss the custom icons subtool for the Navigation Bar Modifier! Have some icons already set, but want to move around a navbar element? In the past, you had to load the custom icons again and then apply the changes you wanted... well guess what? That's no longer an issue as the subtool now automatically loads the currently applied icons without any user input. Pretty cool if you ask me!

    The Icon's Brand New Look

Much like Staples, the Toolbox's icon is getting a fresh new look. Due to some licensing issues with the old icon, we had to make the switch. Fortunately, I think the new icon looks pretty good, and I can now freely use the icon anywhere (OP here we come). Let me know what you guy's think about the new icon.

Hold up, that's not everything! Please take a look at the changelog below to get the scope on more awesome changes:
    Fire Toolbox V25.0 - Changelog

    [Navigation Bar Modifier]
    • Fixed a bug preventing the subtool from reading the current navigation bar layout correctly.
    • The custom icons will now autoload from the tablet so you don't have to rebrowse for your icons everytime you want to change up the navigation bar layout.

    [ADB Shell]

    [System Backup]
    • Removed deprecated ADB backup method.

Well, you guys know the drill by now, I hope! I just wanted to take the time to show my appreciation for the wonderful support you've shown, and would like to thank you all for being just great people in general! Without you guys, I can't say that the project would be where it is today! I'd also like to give a huge shoutout to those who've donated a coffee! It's really generous of you guys and I really do appreciate it!

Well, that's all I got for now! Stay safe, and please have a wonderful rest of your night/day! Until next time guys! Peace! :D

Sorry if this has been covered before. With a new device how do you avoid the update when setting it up so you can run fire toolkit before the 2.2 update?
Don't connect to wifi when you set it up. When you get to the wifi selection screen, choose any wifi, but don't give it a password. Instead select back and return to the previous screen. A new choice will appear at the bottom: Skip. Then you can finish setup, turn on debugging and run the Toolkit to shut off OTA's.
    4
I installed Nova Launcher on my new FIRE 10 HD 2021 tablet using the Fire Toolbox v25.1
Now I can't install Amazon Prime Videos, Google Store says "Can't install Amazon Prime Video" Try again and if it still doesn't work, see common ways to fix the problem" which brings a windows which says Use a different app with choice of RoboForm and Chrome icons. I Installed RoboForm earlier and it worked fine.
You have to use the Amazon version of Prime Video.

    Fire Toolbox V25.2

    All-In-One Toolbox for Fire Tablets!
    ═══════════════════════════════════

    FTB_V25.2.PNG

    Introduction.png

The Fire Toolbox is a collection of useful ADB (Android Debug Bridge) tweaks that can be applied to Amazon's Fire Tablets. The Toolbox project aims to help users fully customize and unlock the full potential of their tablets by putting all the power into their hands.
The Toolbox doesn't touch the system partition meaning all changes made can be reversed either through the tools/subtools themselves or through a factory reset. This means the Toolbox does NOT void your warranty.

In this forum, you may hear the word "generation" being used when talking about Fire Tablets. Just know that "generation" effectively means the same as "what year was the tablet manufactured?". This may seem confusing and as a result a reference table has been provided for you below.

    GettingStarted.png

Getting the Toolbox up and running with your tablet is surprisingly a very easy procedure. The only thing required is for you to enable Developer Options and ADB on your tablet. So, without further ado, let's get started.

At this point, please read the section below, and make sure to follow the correct guide that is made for your tablet on how to set up the device so it works with the Toolbox.

    FIRE HD 7, 8, 10 (2018 - 2021) Guide:
    Before purchasing the tablet:
    • Make sure you uncheck the "Link device to your Amazon account to simplify setup" box before Adding to Cart. (See this screenshot, credits go to @ancientrael)

if the box remains checked, your tablet will automatically update to the latest version of FireOS the second it auto-connects to your wifi.
Booting the tablet for the first time:
    • Wait for your tablet to fully boot up for the first time (may take a few seconds to minutes).
    • When it boots, it will ask you for the language you'd like the OS to use. Select your prefered language.
    • Tapping the blue arrow at the bottom of the screen, you'll be asked to connect to a WIFI network.
    • Select ANY network from the list (even if you don't know the password).
    • Once it asks for the password, tap the "Cancel" button and it will take you to the previous screen with the Wifi networks.
    • At the bottom of the screen, you should now see a "Skip Setup" button, go ahead and tap that.
    • It will now ask if you're sure you want to skip fire setup. Just tap "Skip" once more.
    • You should immeditely be thrown into Fire Launcher. You're now ready to enable USB/ADB Debugging.
    Enabling USB Debugging:
    • Turn on your tablet and go to Settings > Device Options > About Fire Tablet and tap on the Serial Number until you unlock Developer Options.
    • Press the back button and find the new Developer Options and toggle it on.
    • Scroll down till you find USB Debugging and enable it.
    Setting up the drivers:
If you are on Windows 10 or Windows 11 you do NOT need to following this guide because Windows will setup the needed drivers by default automatically. All you need to do is plug your tablet in and Windows will take care of the rest. Please wait until these drivers are fully installed before laucnhing the Toolbox for the first time.
    • Download the latest version of the Toolbox from the Downloads section of this page and install it onto your PC.
    • Plug your tablet into the computer, and Windows will start installing the MTP drivers. It will also attempt to install the ADB driver but will fail. (This is normal and to be expected)
    • Launch the Toolbox, and it should detect your Windows version and inform you that further driver setup is required. It will then ask you if you'd like the Toolbox to download and install the drivers.
    • Click the "Yes" button, wait for the download to finish and follow the driver setup. If this for some reason doesn't work, please follow this guide to manually install the drivers.
    • At this point, If drivers are setup properly... the Toolbox will inform you that the "device isn't authorized. Please authorize your device now."
    • On your tablet, you should see a new prompt asking if you want to Allow USB Debugging and should show the computer's RSA key fingerprint. Tick the box that says "Always allow from the computer" and hit ok.
That's it, the Toolbox should recognize your tablet and will take you to the main menu. Enjoy!

    FIRE HD 6, 7, 8, 10 (2014 - 2017) Guide:

    FAQ.png

How can I run the Toolbox on Linux?
The Toolbox is currently being developed for Linux systems in the Python programming language. If you'd like to see the progress of the port, you can do so at this link.
Please be patient with me as the Linux port is being developed in my spare time and may take some time to complete. However, as the port progresses some builds will be released to those who'd like to help test alpha builds. More information on this later down the line.
However, at the moment, the best way to run the Toolbox on Linux is to use VMWare and emulate Windows.

    1. I don't see my tablet listed in the supported devices, how can I request support to be added?
    * For the requested tablet to be supported, we need a little more information from you in order to add support. Please download this .zip file, extract the folder within the zip to the desktop, and run the Identify.bat (make sure your tablet is plugged into the PC) file to get the code name of the device. Once the code name is found by the tool, press any key to copy it to the clipboard. Now reply to the forum with the code name, and the tablet's complete name. See the example below for reference:
    Code:
    Tablet: Amazon Fire HD8 (2018)[/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT][/INDENT]
    [INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT][INDENT]Device Codename: karnak
    * Please note that any devices produced before 5th generation unfortunately cannot receive support. I'd recommend visiting the forum for your device and rooting if possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    2. What does the error "one of more ADB enabled devices are connected. please remove all devices except a supported amazon fire device." mean?
This error occurs when more then one ADB enabled devices are connected to your computer. Because multiple devices are connected, the Toolbox isn't sure which device to send the commands to so it simply closes and asks that you remove all ADB devices except the Fire Tablet. You may see the following terms being used in the PLUGGED IN list the Toolbox provides:
    Code:
    G0W0xxxxxxxxxxxxx
This is likely your Amazon Fire Tablet. Furthermore, any connected device connected via a usb cable to your computer will likely be a single string (such as the one shown above) and will not contain any special characters.
    Code:
    emulator-xxxx
This likely means an Android emulator is running on your system. Ensure programs like Bluestcks, Nox, Android Studio, Genymotion, LDPlayer, Virtualbox (emulating android), etc aren't running in the background while attempting to use the Toolbox.
    Code:
    192.168.0.xx
This means a device is connected to your computer via TCP/IP (wireless debugging) and has ADB debugging (USB Debugging) enabled. Ensure all devices that run Android in your household are either disconnected from the network temporary, or ADB Debugging (USB Debugging) is disabled. Examples of Android devices that may have ADB enabled: Fire TV, Android TV, phones, tablets, etc.

    3. How can I remove a Google Account from my tablet?
Because of the missing accounts section in the Settings app it will be a little more difficult to remove Google Accounts directly from the tablet. The easiest way that I've found is to visit this page: https://myaccount.google.com/security, sign-in to your Google Account, scroll down to "Your Devices" and click the "Manage devices" button. From the list of devices find your tablet and in the upper right-corner click the 3-dot icon and from the list select "Sign out".

    4. Will this tool root my tablet?
Unfortunately, the Toolbox is not yet capable of rooting any of the supported devices. There are plans to include root methods for a few select tablets but will take some time before they are ready.

    5. Why is the Toolbox being marked as a virus?
The Toolbox (and it's installer) isn't signed with a software license and therefore your computer isn't sure who the publisher is which may worry some anti-viruses, effectively producing a false positive that flags the Toolbox as a virus. The same issue goes for Windows smart screen as well. As always, I take your security and privacy VERY seriously! If you do not feel safe with installing the Toolbox due to virus concerns, I respect and support your decision. It is always up to the user and their judgment! :D

    6. Where did the Changelog go?
Due to the changelog's length it has been given its own post entirely. You can find it here.

    7. I found a bug/issue in the Toolbox, how do I report it?
You may leave a post on this forum. Please include the error/issue and possible ways to replicate it, then copy down the error information (if the Toolbox presents any) and paste it as a post here on the forum. If you could also share a screenshot or video that would also help greatly. In addition, please make sure to also include what tablet you have and what tool the error is coming from and I will do my best to fix it ASAP. Thanks!

    Amazon Fire Toolbox Meets VB.NET

New Year, New Language, New Toolbox

    Toolbox-VB.png

    What's up guys?

First off I want to say that this will be quite the lengthy post. Please bare with me.

If you aren't aware, today is a very special occasion. Today marks the 1-year anniversary of the Amazon Fire Toolbox! :victory:

Let's go back in time to the very beginning and see how the Amazon Fire Toolbox was first developed.

It all started with this post. The removal of ads from the lock screen on all Fire devices. A simple string located in the Android Settings Database governing the lock screen ads was all it took. At that point, I knew what I had found was very important and thus shared it with the XDA community. However, some commands were needed to run and a few permissions for Automate were required to get things up and running. I've always strived to make things as easy as possible. So I sought after creating a batch file complete with a UI and everything... just to automate the permission granting, and automate installation so less tech-savy people could run the adblocker with ease. So, I fired up Notepad and began to write out this script. While I was doing this I decided to see what other things I could tweak on the tablet. So, I began to change things... "What if I could automate the installation of Google Services?", "what if I could automate this... what about this... perhaps this"? and on and on. At this point, I realized I could make the automation script for the adblocker something even bigger.

As a result, I scrapped the automation script I already had and began to develop what I called "The Amazon Fire Toolbox". An all-in-one tool for Fire Tablets that could put the control back in the user's hands. The community over here on XDA reacted quite positive about it and encouraged me to keep going... to make it better. Because of you all is the reason why the Toolbox is as expansive as it is today. You guys made it happen!

Release after release the Toolbox grew, and so did its impact. Today we are on Version 6.5 and so many new features have seen the light of day. it's just so crazy to think that this small project has gotten this big. Sure, we've suffered through some hard times, with a few features not working, the Toolbox being marked unfairly as a virus, and just things, in general, were broken... but you guys stuck with me through it all and I want to say thank you!

Now here is where things are taking a turn for 2020. The Toolbox will now be shifted over from the batch programming language to VB.NET! I'm hoping with this transition the Toolbox will thrive even more. My reason for doing this is because like a gentleman here on XDA pointed out... the Toolbox deserves so much more. In addition, the Toolbox will run on PCs that aren't running English (this time you don't need to do anything special to get it to work), I'm planning on coding it in such a way that the Toolbox may be able to run under Linux using Wine, and best of all, because the UI is made in Visual Basic we no longer need the button injector, therefore, the Toolbox shouldn't alarm AVs any longer.

Now, please note that the Toolbox is still being developed and a lot of features aren't present. However, I will be releasing an installer here on XDA that will allow you to install the VB version of the Toolbox and check out what is/isn't working all for evaluation purposes. When the Toolbox is stable and finished I will release it here on XDA for download.

See how the Toolbox has grown since launch:

What do you guys think about this? Is it a step in the right direction? What would you like to see in the new version of the Toolbox? Please share your thoughts with me, I'd love to hear them!

HERES TO A HAPPY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE TOOLBOX!

    [UPDATE]Amazon Fire Toolbox V7.2

What's up guys? I hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday so far and you are safe and healthy!

Firstly, I want to give thanks to all of you who have been so patient with me and I also want to give a huge thanks to those of you who wished me luck on the cert exam. I'm happy to say that I passed and am now MTA network certified! Thanks so much for all the support! :D

Now brace yourself! It's gonna be a long post! :p

With that being said, today marks the release of the Amazon Fire Toolbox V7.2 update! In today's release a few bugs have been dealt with, some of the UIs have been reworked, some tools have received new subtools/enhancements, and new device models are now supported.

Alright, let's take a quick look at the highlights of the V7.2 update. Probably the most important out of the lot is the support for the new 2020 models has been added. Please let me know how things go with these tablets and if you come across any issues with any of the tools while tweaking these tablets.

There has been a lot of talk of custom wallpapers for the lockscreen and how to achieve the goal of applying the wallpapers to the lockscreen easily. Fortunately, in this update support for setting custom wallpapers has been added to the Lockscreen Wallpaper tool. This subtool is designed to automate most of the process of setting a custom image for you (however, some manual steps are required, but the Toolbox will walk you through it). Unfortunately, this method only works for generations 8 and above. I'm currently looking into a solution for gens 7-4.

Now let's talk User Management. The method of storing users created by the Toolbox has been re-written and instead of storing the users on the local PC, they are stored on the tablet itself. This should prevent the Toolbox from showing the users list on a tablet where those users don't actually exist. In addition, the subtool Switch Users has been added. NOTE: THIS SUBTOOL MUST BE USED TO SWITCH FROM A CUSTOM USER TO THE DEFAULT USER OR THE CUSTOM USER MAY BE REMOVED BY THE SYSTEM!

Next, we have the Manage Everything Amazon tool changes. Because of the revamped User Management tool it is now possible to debloat custom users using the Disable/Hide Amazon subtool and even the Restore Everything Amazon subtool will work with custom users. Enjoy!

Finally, we have changes to the Settings. When you open Toolbox V7.2 for the first time you will find that the settings icon has changed from the [:] to a cog icon. It's also important to know that the Settings UI has been revamped. I will let you take a look for yourself. Hope you like it!

Hey, that's not all that changed! If you are interested in everything that the update has to offer, feel free to take a look at the changelog below for more information:

Thank you for your understanding.
