guys is there a chance to get wake up by double tapping on the screen on my new fire hd 10 plus without rooting?
It could be lawnchair but it sounds more like your CPU or RAM is Maxing out, do you normally leave a lot of apps open in the background?
I did a factory reset and attempted to do all this on a different computer. Have USB debugging on, no internet and I barely use my laptop so nothing Android is on it. And getting every error in the book when trying to install Google Services Attached screengrab is the latest,Hmm, not sure what's going on then. The emulator is still running maybe?
As for OTAs as long as you've disabled it in the Modify System Settings tool then you should be safe to hook the tablet up to WiFi. Just be careful, if the Toolbox isn't working properly it may have not disabled OTAs correctly.
I got to go to bed my friend. So tired. Catch up with you tomorrow if that's cool with you.
The Google Services tool isnt working because the toolbox needs internet to download the Google Play Services apk's.I did a factory reset and attempted to do all this on a different computer. Extract the .zip file then install the apk's onto your tablet
I have no idea how to install an APK. Ill watch a video and post the outcome.
Pretty sure I got them installed right. I have the Play Store now. Now I will wait 15min to see if it works. If this method does work is there other apk's to remove all the amazon apps etc or is that only thru the Fire Toolbox app?Heres how:
• download .zip file,
• open the "files" app (not the "docs" app),
• navigate to your downloads folder, tap on the zip, the 4 apk's will appear,
• hold down on all of the files, in the top right click the 3 dots menu,
now choose " Extract to" then choose the Downloads folder,
• now in the Downloads folder click the apk's to install
(you will be asked to enable "allow installations from this source")
Actually quite few apps are sometimes showing text quite small. YT, Amazon with some fields as well. Will try. I cannot download the .exe file from the website. So it's not your overall font size you want to increase, it's just that specific app. Unfortunately I don't know of any app modifying tools to do what you want. Unless there is a setting buried in the widget to increase the font size, you might just have to search for another app.
You can only disable amazon apps using the Toolbox or ADB (the Toolbox uses ADB)
Have you tried messing around with your Font in the Nova Launcher Settings?
Well, I got the Play Store to work using the apk method! So I have the store but I am still stuck with all the Amazon Apps as FTB isn't removing them for some reason. baby steps i guess lol
Just as a quick test (to hopefully bring you a step closer to fixing this issue)
I ended up trying it on the family PC and... I think I have success with removing the apps!Just as a quick test (to hopefully bring you a step closer to fixing this issue)
plug in your tablet to your PC, open the Toolbox, now open "ADB shell" and try this command:
pm disable-user --user 0 com.amazon.iris
Let us know if the "News" app gets disabled or not.
I installed "Amazon Shopping" and it showed a white screen then crashed so probably not.
I just purchased a Fire HD 10 plus Monday with ads....it arrived yesterday with 220.127.116.11 -- maybe they have older inventory on the plus's models. Follow blaacksheep's advice and you should be good. The Fire HD plus is like having a 400.00 Android tablet. (once you run it thru the Fire Toolbox of course)Thoughts - Opinions on purchasing?
Looks like the Fire HD8 Plus is 50% off currently.
In an attempt to avoid 18.104.22.168, I'm debating which 'version' to purchase for the Wife, the Ad-Supported one, or the one without.
She's been using my old Samsung, but the charging port is going bad, and I'm tired of trying to keep it charged up.
I use to enjoy breaking open these devices and replacing parts, however the ol' hands are shaking and soldering is a bit tough and the eyesight requires magnification. In the event that it it's not lint, check ebay for parts. It may be fairly cheap to replace the charging port. There's youtube videos on almost everything so investigate how difficult it is to change.
If you do decide to grab a Fire tablet, choose a less popular color to increase the likelihood of getting one pre-22.214.171.124. A case covers even the most hideous colors! Also, don't forget to uncheck the box to link it to your account. (It's ALWAYS checked by default.) Choose the ad-supported version as you can always pay them $15 to remove the ads or sweet-talk them into a free ad removal. Always disable OTA updates and automatic updates before connecting your WiFi. (When you get to the connect to WiFi screen, choose any wifi but don't give it a password. Instead just go back one screen and a new option to skip will now be there. Use it and compete setup. Then use the Toolbox to make it your own.

Replaced a screen and a USB micro port on a friend's LG tablet several months back, it's getting a bit tedious unfortunately.
All the posts I've read in this thread and I missed that you could pay to have ADS removed? ...
I'm observant aren't I?
The HD8+ is only available in 'Slate', I think I'm going to go extra for W/O and cross my fingers.
I'd rather have the extra GB of RAM. That's the problem with the drawer full of old HP Touchpads and others that I have - only 1GB of RAM.
Try enabling "Photos", "ADB Shell" command:Thanks Falcon342.. works great.. any option for a gallery to view the pictures / videos. I'm sure it came with something.. but I did a full debloat so it took it out. Just need something basic so the stock one would do if there is a command to enable it .. Really love the work done here.
Edit.. when I click on the photo icon on the side.. I get a popup saying "Photos Blocked.. you can unblock it in Parental Conrols.. however my parental controls is disabled !"
pm enable --user 0 com.amazon.photos
There is nothing stupid about it. As I've stated before, Amazon has every right to make removing their advertising difficult or even impossible. And we have every right to try to do it anyway. These tablets are the best buy on the market simple because Amazon sells them cheap just because they see them a "marketing devices". When we remove the advertising, we defeat that purpose. Naturally they are going to do their best to prevent that. Sooner or late they are going to succeed. They have already succeeded in prevent us from rooting. There is no point in griping about it.
Open the "ADB Shell" tool and run:I recently got a Fire tablet (126.96.36.199) and used Fire Toolbox on it. It all works pretty well afaict, and disabling the auto update prevents me from going to the dreaded 188.8.131.52.
When adding a second user, I noticed that it tries to update the tablet from there as well. Any way to prevent that?
