Hey!

First off, love the work you've done with the toolbox, I appreciate it. Just have a quick question. I have a 11th gen 10inch fire tablet running the dreaded 7.3.2.2 and I recently downloaded the version 26 of the toolbox. I installed the Microsoft Launcher on the tablet and it works quite well, but whenever I tap the circle button on the bottom of the screen, it reverts back to the Fire launcher.

I looked through the forums briefly and I understand that there are two ways to do this: Launcher Hijack or downgrading the fire launcher. How would I go about doing these?

Was Microsoft Launcher installed through the Sideload Apps tool or the Custom Launcher tool?

Because the tablet is on Fire OS 7.3.2.2 the only available option for launcher activation is the home button rerouting method which can be found in the Custom Launcher tool.

Hello! I didn't look into this before buying my Fire 8 and so didn't check that box to not link my Amazon account. I also went through the whole registration process after turning it on. So I'm in that situation where I can't disable OTA updates. I understand that's just what it is right now, but does anyone know the status of working around that? Am I just stuck until that gets handled by the toolbox, and do we have any idea if that even has a chance of getting handled soon?

I'm sorry to hear that, friend. Unfortunately, it seems we're stuck with OTAs for now. However, you could try blocking the IPs @goatbor found to prevent updates. A little more tricky, but it probably gets the job done.

Since the Downloads for v26 are not available anymore, I just extracted my old download directly to AppData\Local\Datastream and it seems to be working
I got the "Start Tour" screen, the Update Message and the Main menu is working, too.

Modify System Settings - working
Manage Amazon Apps - working
Google services - working (crashed the first time)
Custom launcher - working (nova)
Custom Keyboard - working (swiftkey) - btw. here is the access to memory missing to download a language
Google Assistant - working

Good to see the other tools are working as well.

My buddy called and his HD10+ is in.
Going to try ToolBox remotely since he is an hour away from me.
Just jumped on here to get a link to download, and lo & behold v26 is out.
This is going to be interesting.

*Edit* Any suggestions on what I should try or look for once we've got the tablet connected?

I'm sorry to hear that, friend. Unfortunately, it seems we're stuck with OTAs for now. However, you could try blocking the IPs @goatbor found to prevent updates. A little more tricky, but it probably gets the job done.

Thanks so much for letting me know. That's a shame, but at least now I don't wait around hoping. The IP blocks are a great idea, though, thank you for finding that post!

Also, just a heads up that I just tried 26.1 and it is working fine for me, although Google Assistant got stuck downloading and I had to close it and try again. But it worked fine the second time.

Honestly I'd seriously consider pulling v26 completely and trying again after xmas. It's 3 days until xmas day, people need this app to work.

I do have another noob question, and this is a little more loosely based on the toolbox. In the Microsoft launcher I see a popup that says "Set Microsoft Launcher as your default launcher and enjoy [list stuff they offer here]", but when you tap that it takes you to the default apps page where there doesn't seem to be any way to change the default launcher. I installed the Lawnchair Launcher on my brothers tablet a while back (he was running FireOS 5) and I noticed the same thing. Is there something I'm missing or is this just how these tablets work?

Hey! there are no "noob" questions... a question is a question.

Due to the way the new Fire OS update works, you cannot actually change the default launcher. The option in settings is either hidden, or simply has been removed. However, you can use ADB to set the default launcher but it doesn't have any effect. It's setup so you can't change the default launcher. So, unfortuently no matter how much a launcher complains about it not being the default we simply cannot grant that request.

OK, so.... Remote usage of ToolBox on a very recent HD10+ delivered yesterday.
Installation of v26 - fresh install. No previous versions.
Went perfectly. No issues what so ever. I did restart the PC immediately after installation.
My buddy plugged it in on his end, and followed @Datastream33's instructions and then I connected.
I skipped everything in ToolBox and went straight to Shell to run 'getprop'.
Returned:
[ro.build.version.name]: [Fire OS 7.3.2.1 (PS7321/2326)] (*WOOT*)
Rebooted the tablet, Disabled OTA and then installed Play services. Waited 15mins, rebooted again and then had him sign in. Then disabled 'auto-update'.
Everything so far is good to go! He's happy.

Can someone please help a total noob with donation information (if it exists) for this amazing person? I need to pull out my wallet cause I owe some coin. Especially for being able to better config my toddler's tablet

I'd like to use the toolbox on it but I just have a Chromebook right now. Is there a way to stop updates without the toolbox? That way I can start using the tablet now and use the toolbox on it later when I have a PC.

Look at using icebox on your tablet and then using webadb on your Chromebook while keeping wi-fi off to disable any packages with OTA/systemupdate in the name

The custom laucher mode is not working with my Fire HD10 (2021) running on OS 7.3.2.2.
I did everything like reset my tablet to factory default, reinstall the v26.1 tool, check the re-route homekey box but it's still not working.
Anyway, other options work fine. Hope that there will be a solution for customize my laucher.

As a followup to my previous comment yesterday, I have hit an issue with my 11th Fire 10 that concerns two things: the custom launcher and blocking lockscreen ads.

I ran the toolbox on my tablet (which from what I am aware is still running 7.3.2.2) and installed the Microsoft Launcher using the "Custom launcher" function, and removed the lock screen ads. I posted here yesterday about the home button taking me back to the Fire Launcher, and after speaking with DataStream33, reinstalling the Microsoft launcher and making sure the reroute home button function was enabled, it seemed to have worked. However it didn't stay that way.

So here's my issue: I installed the custom launcher and removed the lock screen ads, but after an hour or two it reverted back to the fire launcher and the lock screen ads returned. Is there any way to fix this? Or is the toolbox not capable of fixing this on 7.3.2.2?

Also, I was using V26.1, the latest release at the time, when I was doing this.

dont log in to your amazon account, run the tool to disable ad again then run disable lock screen
