Answered my own question on having setup a pattern and it asking for PIN, but I'm not logged into my Amazon account yet. If I try to change it the way suggested, do I need to be logged in on the fire first? I don't mind factory resetting, but it won't let me without the numerical PIN.

So I just got the HD10 Plus running 7.3.2.1 Has not been connected to wifi. When I enable ADB Debugging it does not give me the prompt to let my computer connect when I plug in the usb cord. The tool continues to say its not authorized.

I installed "Google Messages", but can't use it. When I open it, it says "To use Messages, make it your default SMS app", there's a button "Set default SMS app", but pressing it doesn't do anything.

I've seen posts here from people using "Google Messages", so apparently it's possible. Any idea what it wants from me?

You you would need to be logged into your Amaozn account,

If you want to factory reset,

turn off your tablet, hold Power + Volume down, let go of the power button when the screen turns on and hold the Volume down button for 2-5 more seconds,

now in recovery mode use the volume buttons to move up and down, power to select the highlighted option, choose the factory reset option and confirm it then reboot when completed.

Fun fact I just learned about logging in to your Amazon account, you still have to know the PIN to enable the amazon account lock-out feature if you weren't signed in when you registered your device. Factory reset here we go!

Nothing. Fortunately Messages for Web works in a browser, but I'd prefer the Messages app.

Am I the only one who noticed in "Change Fire Launcher", that there is now a option to downgrade Fire Launcher and to use Launcher Hijack? But on my Fire Tablet, which is running Fire OS 7.3.2.2, I can't click the option from my computer. Maybe what I said a couple posts ago reached the developers of Fire Toolbox! But it might be only available for Fire OS versions 7.3.2.1 & below.

Hi I'm new to all this. I ran toolbox on my new Fire 7 (2019) 9th gen and most Amazon related stuff seems to have gone but I still have "For You Home Library" appearing below the Google search bar. Did I do something wrong? Help much appreciated

Wanted to start off by saying I’m a fan of the effort put into this. I’ve run into a bit of an issue though. I have the Fire HD 10 (2021, 11th gen) and I used your tool yesterday in the morning to disable Alexa and to install Google Assistant. Everything worked great. I could say “Hey, Google” and the assistant would prompt, could use it from my Lock Screen as well. However when I went to check it later on last night the microphone icon at the top is no longer there, so saying “Hey, Google” no longer prompts anything. If I open up Google Assistant or Voice Search the microphone icon will appear at the top and I can converse once again, but the microphone icon is no longer persistent outside of opening those apps.

Is this just a limitation of the Fire HD or is there another setting that should be tweaked so that the microphone icon is permanent at the top and therefore “Hey, Google” works?

I apologize if it’s a stupid question but I couldn’t find the answer on here. And once again, love the work put into this.

Great tool @Datastream33, I really like it.

One thing I've noticed, is that on "Update Play Services" it says "No updates were found" but the server one is higher that the installed one: ( Installed : 21.26.58, Server : 21.48.15 ).

The tablet I'm using is and Fire HD 8 ( 2017 ).

Is the Google Assistant set as the "Assist" app?
(You can check in Settings > Apps & Notifications > Default Apps > Assist & voice input)

Thanks for the reply. Google is set as the default Under Assist & Input. It’s just weird because it was running well for the whole day and then the microphone icon disappeared when I went to check hours later. Alexa is still disabled and my apps are only set to manually update, so I’m a little stumped.

What if we cannot perform the first step "before purchasing" where we unlink it from the amazon account? This new 2021 version is particularly egregious about connecting this device to an amazon account... My 2019 Fire hd10 just gave up the ghost so i had to buy this one (thinking i was getting a mostly the same model, newsflash: its not) and the whole setup is VERY aggressive to get you to :

A) Connect to the internet and
B) Connect to an amazon account.

There's a 100% chance that i disabled that check box (if i saw it) upon purchasing...
But! Depending on how aggressive this thing was with requiring me to put it online and add an amazon account before it would even let me access the "desktop" im not sure what state its in. Also I didnt find it under amazon's "my devices" list, but i made a new email and account JUST for this device, as i do not like having multiple devices attached to the same email, google or otherwise, so if its possible to disable it after the fact, its under an email address i am not able to access at the moment (forgot pw).

is this a 100% necessity where i should go no further if i cannot do this first step?

edit: dag nabbit, this whole post below, (and likely above, too) can be ignored the apps welcome wizard hid the latest update notifications stating that many features including custom launcher (and likely, the google services installers) are not working with Fire OS 3.2.2, does anyone know if i can down grade by factory resetting? or downloading a factory image online and flashing? anything prior to 3.2.2? any ideas?

Also I'm getting error: streamlined install pop-ups when i go to install google play services wizard, evie launcher, and other apps.

Sometimes the tool kit returns an "ok" or "install successful" (ex: for evie launcher)
but other times toolkit reports install failed along with some java.*.* error codes (see below)

Also, This is my 2nd Fire device in a few years, i remember with my fire hd10 2019 model, before your app was out i had to change several adb command line settings and side load google play store and services and what not, it appears your tool automates this in a very elegant way, but im wondering if there is some manual way that perhaps i should try to check my work against?

my Fire Hd10 2021 codename: KFTRWI is fully updated FireOS 7.3.2.2 (unfortunately) -- is this part of the problem?

is this going to be an android 9 problem? im 99% sure i picked the right installer for my tablet version, perhaps this tablet upgraded to Android 10 and all those apks are for android 9?


edit: also this is the same error i was getting for several install prompts in the wizard, this specific error was from the "hide parental controls" prompt, but it came up during many others (as mentioned in the beginning of my post) such as evie launcher install, google play services install, and a few others.

You could use a third party app like Open TimeLimit instead of the built in parental controls. (Open TimeLimit is free and open source / privacy friendly)

That looks really good! Downloaded it and started to try it out.

Now I have a dumb question: If I want to use the same tablet, with more apps visible for me - and for my kid a different - less cluttered - homescreen:
Could I achieve this with an alternative launcher? (having two different log-ins)
That's what I tried initially with the Fire OS homescreen(s), but I could not nicely configure my kid's homescreen.

Hi, is there anyway to have links open with the correct application?

IE, if I'm in the Facebook app, installed from Play Store and click an Amazon link, I get a pop up advising I need to install the Amazon Shopping app to continue, which doesn't work as Shop Amazon is installed, or if check my email and there is a link to this thread it should open with the XDA app not Chrome.

Any way to do this?

Getting same error as User "bladerunnernexus" - but my (new) Fire is on 7.3.2.1 (at least this is what I saw at the start ..) - how can I check my version number again ?
I can still choose the "Disable Fire Launcher" .... and the first to "Launcher Hijack" and "Downgrade" are both not selectable .. so table should not have the "bad" 7.3.2.2, right ?

I have installed fire toolbox to allow Google Play store apps. My problem is that some apps from google play store crash with the Amazon location Services enabled. If I disable the app opens but I can not use the local features of the app. It tells me to enable location services, but once I do the app crashes again. If anyone wants to test, specifically trying “ Philadelphia Eagles” app from google play store. I have a newly purchased Fire HD 10+.

I have a problem I can't seem to find an answer to. My Navigation bar at the bottom always covers the bottom of any keyboard I try to use, so I can't press the space bar, etc... I'm not sure how this happened but hopefully there's an easy fix that I'm overlooking? TIA
