I use to enjoy breaking open these devices and replacing parts, however the ol' hands are shaking and soldering is a bit tough and the eyesight requires magnification.
Replaced a screen and a USB micro port on a friend's LG tablet several months back, it's getting a bit tedious unfortunately.
All the posts I've read in this thread and I missed that you could pay to have ADS removed? ...
I'm observant aren't I?
The HD8+ is only available in 'Slate', I think I'm going to go extra for W/O and cross my fingers.
I'd rather have the extra GB of RAM. That's the problem with the drawer full of old HP Touchpads and others that I have - only 1GB of RAM.
Yeah, as we grow older, the electronics become more microscopic and tedious to work with. I'm still of the mind to do it myself if possible. But if not, then I grudgingly shell out the cash for someone else to do it or buy a newer device.
Just another reminder: Uncheck that box that says "Link this device to my Amazon account"! Don't connect to WiFi until you've run toolbox to disable updates.
Good luck in getting a pre-7.3.2.2.
