Hi ... Welcome to the Community.Got my HD 10 in the mail today and got everything installed just fine. Got Netflix running fine, but for some reason I'm getting an error when I try to install Disney Plus through the Hybrid App option. I tried doing it from scratch, then I tried downloading the 1.15.1 APK and updating it. No luck. Here's the message I'm getting:

Any ideas?
Oh, so once I've got all the auto OTAs disabled I can use the Amazon appstore? I thought it was off limits.Hi ... Welcome to the Community.
Be careful sideloading the streaming media apps onto Fire tablets ... some (like Disney+) are incompatible with FireOS.
The best experience for streaming media apps is to install from the Amazon AppStore. Disney+ is there. These apps have been specifically ported and re-coded for the Amazon ecosystem and run flawlessly.
Do not install the same apps from both AppStore and Play Store.
Fire HD10s are Widevine certified for streaming HD DRM content and look great.
Disabling OTA Updates stops Amazon from "pushing" firmware/software updates and possibly upsetting your FTB setup.Oh, so once I've got all the auto OTAs disabled I can use the Amazon appstore? I thought it was off limits.
Awesome. Thanks!Disabling OTA Updates stops Amazon from "pushing" firmware/software updates and possibly upsetting your FTB setup.
But once you have disabled OTAs, you are free to use any of the Amazon apps and services, including AppStore and registering your Amazon account.
The concept of "Amazon debloating" is often misinterpreted; it's meant to free up system resources (especially on the lesser and older Fire tablets) and not necessarily to "absolutely" deter you from using Amazon apps and services.
Hello! I just followed the tutorial and did the recommended changes the tutorial gives. It changed the launcher, however, it did not disable the fire launcher. How do I disable the fire launcher? I do see the Nova launcher (the one I chose), but I have to open it as if it's an app.
I use a paid music player in my Fire tablets and Android devices (neutron media player) that shows album art fine. I've also run some of the other players and never had a problem displaying album art. I think you probably disabled something you need for it to work.Simple ask: can someone just verify if album art works for you with mp3's? Per this recent thread I'm guessing the debloat process i used likely broke the media scanning service. But maybe Amazon just left it out of FireOS?
Standalone media players seem to work well on stock Fire tablets with normal Google Play infrasttucure installed.Simple ask: can someone just verify if album art works for you with mp3's? Per this recent thread I'm guessing the debloat process i used likely broke the media scanning service. But maybe Amazon just left it out of FireOS?
It took me a while to hunt that down in toolbox because of the way the list is ordered and their being no search tool, but I found it. It's called Media Storage (com.android.providers.media). In Manage Amazon Apps > Manual tab > Advanced, the tool for app info always crashed the Linux version of Toolbox (which I'm running) so I can't get that info there. On the tablet under App info, the media Storage app showsThanks Blaacksheep. So I can see the Android Media Scanning service in the Toolbox; it is called
com.android.providers.media
The tookbox shows me that the App size is 0, Data Size 0, Cache size 0, Total size 0
So it seems that even though the service is not disabled, it isn't working at all.
would you mind taking a quick look in the Toolbox under Advanced and see if yours has built up a bit of a database of media info?
It's supposed to run on reboot of the device, but it seems i've broken something where it's not working. I'll continue to investiage.
It's fine if your tablet registers w/Amazon. As for updates, it really depends where your interests/passions lie. Blocking updates will give you more control over the device but an inferior experience with some apps, especially those linked to the Google ecosystem. Allowing updates will resolve most app issues but limit device customization. It's important to understand there is no going back once your device updates.I just got a Fire HD 10 (2023) that I ordered yesterday.
When I ordered it, I did not uncheck the "Link the device to your Amazon account".
So far, I have not turned it on. Would it be a problem if it updates to latest FireOS?
Wouldn't I be able to still use the Toolbox??
If updating is a big deal, I guess I would just have to turn off my Wifi at home, turn the tablet on and factory reset it. This way it should forget my home wifi, shouldn't it?
You're experiencing "intergenerational software" clash/incompatibility.After following the instruction, when I try to install Google Sheets (or Docs, etc.) in Google Play Store, the process of 'Pending, verified by Play Protect' keeps going indefinitely. Please help because I want to install Google sheets on this Fire HD 2017. Thank you.
I've tried so many things but I just can't get my quasi-android setup to work again. Before I had these problems on boot up it would avoid the Fire Launcher and boot directly into Nova. But now the Fire Launcher seems to have control. To fix it I ran the FTB Custom Launcher using Nova 6.2.19 apk, I tried to get Automate working properly again (not sure which Flows I need), etc. This is driving me nuts. I hope someone can help.Ahh .. see your problem now ...You may have overlooked the recent changes to some of FTB's menu layout.
You're correct that FTB wil install the latest version Nova Launcher when chosen.
FTB can still install any any alternative app launcher not listed in FTB options, as long as you have the appropriate APK file. In your case you need Nova Launcher's 6.2.19 .apk . Download the file somewhere you can easily find it.
From FTB v33.1 main page:
>Select "Custom Launcher" > open Search Dialogue (box to the right) > select "Other" > browse and select appropriate .apk file > tap "Open" and follow on with FTB instructions.
FTB v33.1 now has a function to reinstall/repair the Automate flows if they are broken. (I haven't used this function yet, so I'm not exactly sure of the process).
You may also have to use FTB "Enable Widget Support" option , if widgets aren't working natively in your Nova Launcher setup.
#EDIT
Before you proceed, uninstall any other Nova Launcher installations you may have made earlier to avoid any app version conflict.
I'll do this first thing tomorrow and report back to you.You need to ensure the navbar is setup correctly, and the "tb_custom_launcher" key is set (determines what activity Automate needs to launch, so if it's not set correctly, Automate won't be able to find the activity - as seen in your screenshot).
Before we do anything, let's put the home button image (will be used on the navbar) in the right place. On your tablet, make a new folder on the root of the SDCard, call it NavIcons0, and put the home.png (attached to this post) file inside that folder (Should look like this: sdcard/NavIcons0/home.png).
Next, we need to run some ADB commands to set up the navigation bar layout and Launcher Invoker.
Try running these commands one at a time in an ADB Shell (double-check the commands are inputted exactly as they appear below before executing!):
Code:settings put secure tb_custom_launcher com.teslacoilsw.launcher
Code:settings put secure sysui_nav_bar 'left[1WC],;back[1WC],key(130:file:///storage/emulated/0/NavIcons0/home.png)[1WC],recent[1WC];right[1WC]'
Once each command is executed (the commands shouldn't return anything), start the Launcher Invoker flow, and try tapping the home key to pull up your custom launcher. Let us know how it goes. Best of luck!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING FIREOS 7.3.2.2+ AND THE TOOLBOX (PLEASE READ)
If your tablet is running FireOS 7.3.2.2 or above please note that some functions of the Toolbox may not work due to new restrictions in the new firmware. The following tools either do not work or have limited functionality:
• OTA Updates - OTAs can no longer be disabled, but can be restricted.
• Manage Amazon Apps - Some system apps can no longer be disabled.
We're looking into workarounds to the issues detailed above. Please keep an eye on the forum for further development.

The Toolbox won't display correctly. The window is pure white and the text is faded. How can I fix this?
This can happen if window style and effects are turned off.

My Home Button isn't working after using the Custom Launcher Tool?Due to the way the process works, it alters your navigation bar's home key to send a key event that can be picked up by Automate. Once Automate reads this event, it launches your custom launcher automatically. However, if the flow in Automate isn't running, the navbar key will not work, and nothing will happen when it's tapped. To fix this, either open Automate and start the "Launcher Invoker" flow again, or execute the Custom Launcher tool in the Toolbox, click the ":" icon (upper-right) to show the Tool Options panel, and click the "Restore Navigation Bar" button to restore the stock layout. You can execute the "reset_navbar" (without quotes) command in the ADB Shell tool.
Google Family Link won't work on my tablet?Unfortuently, no matter how hard we try, we still haven't been able to get Family Link to work correctly on the tablets. The Family Link app fails to install, and the Child account refuses to login. No matter what we tried, we couldn't get a Child account to work on the tablets. We believe this has to do with missing dependecies, and the tablets not being certified through Google's Play Protect platform. We're still activly looking into getting the issue resolved. Until then, it's recommended that you use an alternative such as Amazon's FreeTime, Eyezy, or another third-party family managing software.
How can I remove a Google Account from my tablet?Because of the missing accounts section in the Settings app it will be a little more difficult to remove Google Accounts directly from the tablet. The easiest way that I've found is to visit this page: https://myaccount.google.com/security, sign-in to your Google Account, scroll down to "Your Devices" and click the "Manage devices" button. From the list of devices find your tablet and in the upper right-corner click the 3-dot icon and from the list select "Sign out".
Can the Toolbox be used to root my tablet?Primarly, rooting a Fire Tablet requires the user to open the back of the device and short out a certain point on the motherboard. The Toolbox has been designed for folks who'd rather not bark down this alley. It uses the power of ADB to make changes, and is meant to be an alternative to rooting. In summery, the Toolbox isn't designed to root.
The Toolbox is being marked as a virus? This is likely because the Toolbox (and it's installer) aren't signed with a software license. This freaks Windows out because it sees that there is no publisher, and as a result it displays a warning (smartscreen). In addition, some anti-viruses might also flag the Toolbox as a virus simply because the build is relatively new and there is no record of it in the anti-viruses database, resulting in a false positve. As always, I take your security and privacy VERY seriously! If you do not feel safe with installing the Toolbox due to virus concerns, I respect and support your decision. It is always up to the user and their judgment!
