That all depends on how you uninstalled Google Services. Did you do it via Toolbox or did you uninstall from the tablet itself? You'll probably have to uninstall via Toolbox to reinstall that way.

My apologies, I thought my initial post was clear that I used Toolbox for all operations. I wouldn't even know how to begin to do these things manually. In fact I would never have even considered removing Play Services if Toolbox hadn't suggested I do so in the popup dialog box. It made it sound like a very simple process but now I'm stuck and need help.

I'll try again to explain this with screenshots for clarity.

It seemed to me that the option to Manage Accounts under Manage Google Services was the sensible place to start if I wanted to remove a Google account.

That resulted in the following error.

So I followed the instructions in the above error popup and tried clearing the data/cache for Play Services but that had no effect. I was a little hesitant to uninstall Play Services but I was lured into a false sense of security because "why would the popup tell me to do it if it was dangerous?".

Unfortunately after uninstalling Play Services, I do not have a menu item to reinstall Play Services. According to the last line of this screenshot, it seems to be detecting a version 22.16.13 installed even though I already Executed the Uninstall. I executed the uninstall a second time just for good measure but it didn't seem to change anything.

Google Play Store is definitely no longer on the tablet. How do I proceed to get Google Services back on my tablet?

I actually prefer to keep Google Play services on my Fire HD 10 Plus. Reason for that is the fact that I primarily use the Fire tablet as Streamer console to my DAC/AMP.. I need USB Audio Player Pro for that, which relies on the Play Store for its licensing...

It seems it is NOT uninstalled like it says it is. Hmm. Let's try manually doing it.

In Toolbox, go to Manage Amazon Apps > Manual tab > Advanced > User Apps tab. It will take a little while to fill. Select all of the following Google apps that are there.

Now click the tab in the upper-right that says "Uninstall Selected". That should remove the remains of Google Services. I don't know if a reboot is required on either the tablet or the computer, but it couldn't hurt.

Try once again to install Google Services and let us know how it goes.

That option is not available on > v7.3.2.1 firmware. The Custom Navbar Button replacement method doesn't actually replace the launcher. It replaces the Home button with a button that's mapped to the launcher you chose. On first boot, it will come up with the Amazon launcher until you press the Home button once. That will trigger your preferred launcher. Also, the "Clear All" option on the Recents list will return you to the Amazon launcher, so if you use it, you'll have to hit the Home button again.

I figured that part out. Now my Playstore is no longer responding. IS there anything to do about that? Like just fails when trying to open the Playstore.

Hi everyone Hoping I could get some help as I've just brought my daughter a fire 7 tablet 2022
12th gen its on fire 0s 8.3.1.2. . Reading through the forum seems this may be a bad thing??

So I installed play services the old way downloading files and installing, this worked ok for a few days.
then it would not load playstore or any games downloaded.
I then found out about fire toolbox. reset the tablet back to factory reset, then used toolbox to install google services, and playstore still will not start . Is there something I am doing wrong ??

My other Daughter has a 2017/18 model I installed playstore on there and never had any issues

Hmm.. I don't know how toolbox detects whether to offer installation of Google Services, but it doesn't look like we've triggered that action. That leaves us 2 options: manually installing Google Services or resetting the tablet and starting over.

If you want to manually install, go to the Toolbox icon on your desktop and right-click it. Select "Open item folder". double-click "bin". Double-click "Google Services". Here you will find the installer files Toolbox has downloaded for your tablet. They need to be installed in a specific order.

1. PlayServices9.0.apk
2. Framework9.0.apk
3. AccountMgr9.0.apk
4. PlayStore9.0.apk

Install them all in order and then reboot your tablet before opening the Play Store.

Hopefully that works out okay and it all works now. I think that the account you wanted to remove will still be there, though. Only a reset will cure that.

Hello! I'm in a bit of a strange situation right now with the new Fire 7. I've found, like many others, that installing the play store can be done, but any user-added apps crash upon opening them after installation of play services. I installed Nova launcher which was working up until I installed play services and removed the original launcher. Now every time I turn on the tablet and unlock it I am unable to access anything because of the launcher continuously crashing and re-opening.

Another thing I found with this device is that when I first took the device out of it's packaging this morning and ripped all of Amazon's unnecessary apps off the tablet, the play store worked perfectly for at least an hour. I took the tablet out of my bookbag a couple hours after and nothing would open anymore.

Bottom line, this device is running Android 11, Amazon's system version is currently 8.3.1.2. Something in this version is restricting certain android apps from functioning properly, especially after play services are installed, OTA updates were somehow easily disabled, and I found a bug with the toolbox that makes it throw an error when trying to install the contact/calendar sync along side the play services.

I am happy to work with you guys to find a workaround for any issues, just lmk.

Also something related to the above post: I had this same issue and the only way I could get the toolbox to reinstall everything without the error showing up about something not being there was booting the tablet into recovery mode and performing a factory reset.

I know that you can not connect to Wi-Fi, but I'm wondering if it's critical that I put a mark on the purchase "Link device to your Amazon account to simplify setup.", and which version of FireOS will be already installed on the device?

In "Help & Customer Service" already has: Fire HD 10 Plus (11th Generation) FireOS 7 | FireOS 7.3.2.4.

For some how my custom navigation bar's home key doesn't work while play YouTube as full screen,
I have to tab on Recent key then Custom navigation bar's home to process and back to the homepage.

Any workaround with this?

Hi, and welcome to XDA!

FireOS 8 has known issues running Google Services. They've done something to FireOS to make it crash or just not work. I only have a FireOS 7 tablet, so my advice is only based on what I've been reading in this thread.

From what I've read, the best way to deal with it is to uninstall Google Services and install Aurora Store. You can get the same apps from Aurora Store because it is a side-route to Google's Play Store. You can get Aurora Store from F-Droid. Google Services can be uninstalled with Toolbox.

I don't know for sure, but it sounds like the type of thing that Amazon will give you trouble with. It might partially work, but don't count on it.

Hi, and welcome to XDA!

The main reason to check that box when ordering is that by default your WiFi passwords and other information is saved in your Amazon account and pre-loaded into the tablet before you get it. When you turn it on, it will already know which network is yours and your Wifi password. It will connect to Amazon servers and download any updates before you get through the setup procedure and disable WiFi to turn off updates. Then all it takes is a reboot to force an update.

The easiest way to avoid this is to unplug your router until you get through the setup screens and turn off WiFi.

If your tablet already has v7.3.2.4 on it, then it won't matter, but I've never heard of someone getting a tablet from Amazon and them reporting the firmware version on it before you get it.

That's normally done with Toolbox > Lockscreen Management > Change Lockscreen Wallpaper.

This is a problem with the visibility of the home button. If you press where it "should" be, it will still work. I think that Datastream33 has implemented Dark Mode as a partial workaround to this in the latest update to Toolbox. That will fix issues with a dark background causing the home button to disappear.

Edit: Dark Mode is there under Toolbox > Modify System Settings > SystemUI tab > Night Mode (Dark Theme).
