Just to be clear, When I'm wiping my phone, I do an advanced wipe and select wipe cache, dalvik cache, and system, but not data? I read about someone wiping all their downloads and stuff by doing a regular wipe and I'd like to avoid that. Is that correct?

When you first go into the wipe menu, just using the default and just swiping the slider is enough for factory reset. Most devs wipe system when flashing Rom anyways.
