exspensive

Started researching around for information on this whole wireless charging idea the other day and saw some nice things. Was actually about to invest in some sweet new tech until I was made a [email protected]$ch buy my shopping cart and it's $100 price tag. I had an all out Carrie moment trying to stare my cart into submission but ultimately lost in the end. I tried raping Google for coupons or deals but no luck it didn't put out. I gave up in the end after trying to insert a text field over the price in the cart to put in my own numbers didn't work for some reason. Gonna try putting a piece of paper taped over the price on my monitor and see if that works.

I purchased the Choe Qi charging kit from Amazon. It arrived in one week even though the estimate was 4-6 weeks because it comes from China. It works great, highly recommended! It adds no noticeable thickness to the phone and my TPU case still fits great. Even better, I am able to charge with the case still on my phone. The charging rate seems to be about 25% per hour. I am using the stock charger with the USB 2.0 cable that comes with the kit.

Charging Pad fail. PSA for everyone.

I ordered a charging pad to fit on the battery so that I could use the original back. This didn't work well. I had read that Sammy was putting chips in their accessories to make them work properly, don't know if this is related or not. Anyway, it fit perfectly, and I set it on my Nexus orb charger. Basically, it prevented it from working. The contacts were perfectly aligned, no space at all. I have bought these pads before for my s3, and my Verizon note 2 (yep, I even modded the side by taking it apart and cutting out over the contacts). It tries to work, but only works for 1 second, then disconnects, and reconnects, and disconnects and so forth. It also make the phone super hot. I get the message about wireless charging, and the s pen not working, although it does as I used it to take a screen shot of the message. :p Anyway, I only spent 12 bucks on this from ebay, but again all the ones I have ordered from these guys have worked before. I am attaching a picture. Just an fyi for anyone wanting to save 12 bucks. Also, the cover barely fits back on, and on one side even popped open. So, I guess I am waiting on the s-view flip case with qi charging. Or, I hope it exists as the interwebs says it does.

Did anyone manage to find a case? Its a shame as I would have thought someone would have filled this niche by now and made a case for the OEM cover.

Unfortunately I learnt the hard way, bought the handset and wireless charging cover and found that it didn't fit my Spigen Neo Hybrid - so I haven't migrated from my S3 LTE yet :(

Not sure if you see what I mean. I am looking for a case that fits the Note 3 with the slightly thicker QI wireless charging back installed.
Not going to find one. Ive looked everywhere.

Eventually I just bought the charging receiver from China.

With the chinese receiver, the original cover fits fine, AND I'm using a regular Seidio surface case (or any other case I want to use). Everything works great.

Does wireless charging circuitry cost a lot to implement? I'm not sure why Samsung didn't include this functionality inside the base phone.

A shame my case would be useless if I went for something like this.

I bought this one a few months back...great success

Search Amazon for item #: B00GX00NE4. Its a PThink Ultra-thin for Note 3

Works like a charm under stock cover. I can even charge through my Spigen Neo-Hybrid case.

I don't know why anyone would do anything but this. I have a similar one and it works great.

Last night The N3 was down to 3% and I placed it on charge at 11:10 pm it was fully charged by 5:00 am. Less than 6 hours you should sleep sometime. I am going to order two spare batteries for when I travel, they are pretty cheap.

Bingo. I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay more money for a rear cover and then have to buy a new case... These assholes should have included the wireless charging out of the box. This phone wasn't cheap.

You can get a receiver on amazon for like $5-10 and use the existing cover. It is worth it between ease of use and you increase the resale value by not scratching up the bezel. Plus you buy a dock one time instead of with each device.

yah i have seen this site. i want to charge my phone wirelessly. but is it not slow than usb connect charging?
Download "Galaxy Charging Current *Lite*" and see for yourself.

I get 640mA while charging wirelessly with a CHOETECH 3-coil charger, and the OEM 2A charging block that came with my phone. The cable, however unlikely to be a bottleneck, is the OEM USB 2.0 cable that came with my S3. (The CHOETECH doesn't have a USB 3.0 connector on it)

I've gotten nearly 3x that current flow when charging using the USB 3.0 cable that came with the phone, and plugging it into a USB 3 hub charging port. (all power, no data) This is likely the BEST case scenario for current flow... and my phone charges from nearly zero to full in a matter of 2-3 hours.

Oddly enough... I have not tried using the USB 3.0 cable and the 2A charging block that both came with my phone, so I can't give a comment on the current flow that Samsung provides with the hardware in the box... The cable is at home, and the charging block is at work.
