Does anyone know if there is batteries with Qi compatable charging? I mean that no reciever is needed.

Sent from my GT-I9195 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
To answer your question, the answer is yes and no, also for qi wireless charging to work, a transmitter and receiver is needed.

What about the R1 port ? (picture p5 on this thread)
I found a replacement part for the usb connector. this module include the R1 port. (Easy to find : type "i9195 R1 port" on google. )
It seems to be the alimentation module.
my question : could it be the coil connection port? (R1)

(hope u understand me, french guy, not so good english level ^^ )

alex_Oncle_Bob,thanks for idea!

Did you talking about this replacement part?

If yes, can you point where did you see coil connection port on this picture?

As I understand, for not broke phone we can buy this detail and solder hardly Qi receiver to it, and replace original part with hand-maded.
Also we must buy plastic part to, for not broke original.

Cheers to anybody tries this before me. If/when I give it a go, I'll be sure to post (maybe a new thread) and link to it here.
ScottHW, thanks for original idea, this is very good solution!
Is you already try to do this or not? I want to buy new parts and do experiments with it, and if all will success, I replace original parts to hand-maded :) If I broke something, I always can return back original parts.

Here is parts that we need to buy:
http://www.etradesupply.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-gt-i9190-gt-i9195-loud-speaker-module.html - USD $8.04

Kosee Qi Wireless Charging Receiver Module Card

I found one and think that it might work with S4 Mini: Kosee Qi Wireless Charging Receiver Module Card
I am a newbie and so I cannot post the external link. You can google it anyway.

It looks promising because you do not need to sacrifice your USB port. No one confirms this though. I will come back if I have already tested it.

Update: I don't think this will work with my S4 mini. Unlike S4, there is no charging port for wireless pad. The seller's ad is misleading. The universal charging pad through micro USB is so far the best solution.

you do know they also have a phone called the S4.

There are three ways to get wireless charging on the s4 mini

Either through the USB, mod the phone to support wireless charging or use a wireless charging battery.

forgot to mention, the USB one is not the best choice, they don't last due to the bending of the copper connector will easily break.

I know that. One seller says that it also works with S4 series (including mini and active). That is why I said the ad was misleading.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway. Any suggestion for a wireless charging battery?

wireless charging battery is the easilest way, but they only make it for the note 2, S3 and S4, I think the one i tested the note 2 version, but you cannot close the battery cover.

These battery is made by anymode, partner company to samsung, the battery are also official samsung batteries.

I think the S3 is the best for S4 mini, same thing, battery cover will not close.

Found it. It seems the USB one is the most viable choice for me.

Many thanks for the information anyway. :good:

Interference?

Has anybody tried the idea with the soldering in the meantime?

I just have one question. If we solder the receiver to the usb-port, and we would want to charge the phone through the cable (let's say on a location where we don't have a wireless charging pad), wouldn't it break? Maybe by short-cirquiting the thing, I don't know..
So I would like to know if it is safe to use the USB-cable to charge if I have a charging receiver soldered to it. It also charges when I connect the phone to my computer. So, one way or another, when we connect a USB-cable to it, it gets power..

Just to try the idea in question here, I decided to solder a wireless charging pad onto the internal USB connections, and it turned out to work flawlessly.

Here is the guide I wrote on the subject: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Attach+wireless+charging+functionality+to+Samsung+Galaxy+S4+mini/44562

The coil in the pad itself has no inflict on battery consumption, so there is no apparent shortening on the battery connections, I guess the battery charging circuit takes care of that.

When charging the pad itself tends to get quite hot, then again charging time is two thirds or perhaps half the charging time as on cable.

One thing to note, is to have a charger with an output of 5V and 2A, else the charging coil has inconsistent supply, resulting in the phone to continuously switch between charging and not charging.

When charging with cable, there is no indication of the pad getting power, I assume the power distribution circuit in the pad itself prevents it from short circuiting.

My daily use is, with wireless when at work, since I'm constantly sitting at my desk answering calls through my Bluetooth headset and having to go to the laboratory to guide/try a few things while helping the calling customer, where it would kill the USB connector with the amount of attach/detach during the day.

Using cable charging while driving, since I didn't invest in a wireless charger for the car, and using wireless charging during daily hours at home, and cable charging when I'm sleeping.

So the phone do get a variety of charging from either sources.

@BenVDD Hope this helps answering your question.

I was reading and reading and I noticed nobody said anything about the NFC function being lost.
The battery has the NFC coil under the wrapping (that's why there are 4 connectors) - trust me, I checked. Some say that a good workaround is to just reposition the pad slightly lower under the back plate.
the direct soldering is something I've done on a Newman N1 some time ago and made the back plate removable. Right now i'm Waiting for this Qi charging pad because it has an NFC coil in it. The beauty is that metal connectors can be pulled from both positions like here: GT-I9195

I'll get back to you guys as soon as i get this thin, but NFC enabled charging pad

keep it real!

Those are really cheap and bad quality receiver, I've seen those in china, and not worth buying, you can also read most of the comment posted by ebay members.

At least find a better quality receiver if you are going to solder them into the S4 mini.

woooo wo wooo. ;p I'm not gonna solder anything anywhere. (leaving out the copper sticky tape I already soldered)
I've just made contacts available in the marked positions so that i can put the receiver "in" the back cover. i.e. even make space for it the plastic (i have a flip cover and that's a bit thicker - plenty of room to work with).
I'll come back with a picture of the mods to the phone. The point of all this is that right now my phone looks like out of the box and it's meant to look that way. No bulges. Think of it like I've now made the Mini have available contacts like his big brother.

if you are going to use the qi charging, you have to solder the + and - of the internal of the USB port.

not to say that it's the same thing like what I've done for the Newman, BUT, I've done it before for the Newman :D. The "extended" NFC connectors are also soldered to the motherboard.
It's not my first rodeo, but I do appreciate the interest.

the inserted pads
