Found the source of the problem. Details in the latest video from the guy linked in OP: https://youtu.be/fr4RlrfHIMk
To tell you the truth after watching that video, I don't see a difference in the fonts the guy keeps saying are different. I have the one that he says is the legitimate Samsung charger made in Vietnam and it works just fine. with my S8. The only obvious differences discernable that he shows is with the USB type C plug connector shape and the power supply adapter one made in Vietnam and one says made in China. If his assesment is true, the China made one is a pretty accurate looking knockoff.

Can anyone confirm which non-Samsung Wireless Quick Chargers work? The Choetech one I have here at work is driving me nuts tryin to reposition it correctly to get it to Fast Charge(yes, I can get my Choetech to fast charge at some inconsistent hard to get angle on the pad sometimes). I see some people saying their phone charges on so and so a pad, but some don't even know it's supposed to be quick charging instead of regular slow charging so they think what they have works.

I have two stands and two different wall bricks. Both of my setups quick charged my S7 Edge and now also quick charge my S8

Let me go look to see which ones I have.

Here are links to the pads, cables and one of the wall bricks that I use.

I just want to update y'all on the latest findings of my Samsung EP-NG930 wireless charger stand and S8 experience. For the last two nights in a row, I placed the S8 centered on the charger before going to sleep and when I awoke in the morning the S8 was not charged to 100% at all. The S8 was warm to the touch each time and the battery indicator remained at slightly above the level I started the charging at. The blue charge light was still blue in the morning as if it was still fast charging. Each night I placed the S8 on the charger it said it was in fast charging mode and will take roughly about 1 hour 47 minutes or so to charge. But in the morning the phone was not 100% charged! In the morning I have to take it off the charger and place it back on to begin the charging cycle all over again and then it starts charging up the battery but seems to be slow charging instead.
I have the supposedly valid Samsung model made in Vietnam too. So I don't know what is going on. Sometimes it charged to 100% and the green light is on when I wake up in the morning.
The other nights it failed to fully charge and the blue light is still on when I wake up in the morning. So hit or miss.

I did read somewhere someone else posted that he started the charge at night and awoke in the middle of the night around 3am or so and the phone was 100% charged. So he left it there and when he awoke in the morning the phone was discharged and no longer at 100%. So this might be a tell tale sign of what might be happening to me. I will have to check this scenario out tonight when I start the charge all over again. I will check it at 3am or so and see if the S8 is fully 100% fast charged by that time. I will then leave the phone as is still sitting in the dock and check it again in the morning when I wake up to see if it is still at 100% or has it discharged sitting in the dock.

Update: Nevermind, I am sending this Samsung charger back to amazon.com. After placing the phone back on the charger this morning after it did not charge 100% overnight, I waited for it to charge up and it just charged very slowly over 4 hours waiting and it stuck at 85% and went no further from there. I removed the S8 once again and placed it back on the charger to reset it again and it started charging slowly again went to 86% after 15 minutes which tells me it was charging very slowly again even though the S8 screen shows a message saying it is in Fast Charging mode... the message is bogus! So either these new S8 softwares are buggy causing the sporadic non-charging conditions or the wirelss charger base is buggy. This needs to be figured out. I'd hate to send the charger dock back only to find out later that a bug in the new S8/S8+ phones is the culprit. ugh!

I have this fast charger I got off of Amazon. 17 shipped and includes the micro usb fast charge cable. I used the fast charge wall adapter from my s7 and I get fast charge every time with a case on my s8. It charges upside down and sideways with no issues.

Do you know it for that model it says that it is only a regular speed charger and does not say it is a FAST wireless charger?

Folks beware, I've returned my Samsung Dock charger because it fails to charge my S8 reliably. it is hit or miss each time I try to charge on it. What put the nail in the coffin to return it though is that the model number and serial number on the little sticker that comes with it could not be found nor verifited when I tried to register it on the official Samsung website. The model number on the sticker had one character diffrent than the official Samsung model number! Sneaky! so be aware of this!

I don't know what your reading but it says fast charge on it and my phone fast charges.

It's normal for other qi charge phones and fast charge for samsung phones.

Are you using a fast charge wall plug and tried a different usb cable? I heard some people had issues and trying a different wall adapter or cable fixed it.

Oops, yes you are correct. I misread the specs I was looking at for the model you linked to. I might give that one a try for only $16. One question I have though is that it is not clear if they are implying that you must remove the phone after it is fully charged or if you can leave it on the charger walk away and forget it and it won't over heat or do damage. Does this model come with any warnings saying to remove the phone once it reaches full charge? Is the power port connection micro USB or USB Type C?

Still doesn't work. It's to small for the plus, the only way it picks up a charging signal is turning the phone side ways, and it still won't charge right. My wife has the s8 and I have the s8+. Hers works, mine doesn't

My app keeps crashing when trying to do a reply quote.

To: Infobits

The charger uses the micro usb cable and comes with one. You only need to supply a samsung fast charge wall plug. I haven't noticed any issues with leaving my phone on it all night. Its cold when I wake up in the morning.

Over the weekend I did more test with my 5 various 3rd party Qi Fast Wireless Chargers (Choetech, Nektek, Yooteck, etc). All worked fine with my S7 Edge so long as I was using a Quick Charge 2.0 Charger and a decent cable. I had no issues. None have worked with my S8+ though the Nektek seems to start to work sometimes and not other times. Over the weekend, I tried using both QC 2.0 AND QC 3.0 chargers, then tried using the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger. I also tried several different cables (all of which worked fine previously with the S7).

Nothing changed - none of these Fast Wireless Chargers which all worked great with the S7 Edge work with my S8+ regardless of which charging adapter I was using and with trying several different cords.

Have you tried a samsung wireless charger? Could it be an issue with your phone?

No, I haven't just because I don't own one. I guess I might try to take my phone over to the Best Buy Samsung store and hopefully they have one I can try it on there - that way if it doesn't work on that one either, then that would let me know that perhaps I just have a bad phone with faulty coils and need to return it for a replacement. Of course if it does work, then that wouldn't solve the issue of it not working with any 3rd party chargers, but it would at least give me some info... Maybe later this week or this weekend I'll have a chance to give that a shot...

One of my Samsung fast charge wireless chargers is working as Fast Charge. It has a Samsung brick and wire on it. The other two are slow wireless charging. One of them has a Samsung brick and wire on it, the other a different fast charge brick and an Anker cable. My Choetech at work has a Anker cable and different fast charger and sometimes I can get it to fast charge if placed randomly a certain way on it. Otherwise it will keep doing the "Paused Wireless Charging" thing nonstop unless I put it on there that random specific way to get it to Fast Charge.. All of these chargers at home and work all worked on my S7 Edge with Fast Charge. Samsung really screwed things up with this. I have another charger coming today that is said to work with the S8+. I hope it's just a software update Samsung can fix to get things working.

My S8 stops charging at around 85%, after all night charging. It also is very hot. Happens the same on standard and fast charging, and on all 3 chargers that worked OK with my S7.

There have been some initial reports of a "wireless charging paused" problem when attempting to "fast" wireless charge with certain chargers. I have experienced this myself, researched it, did some testing, and have some thoughts I think would be helpful to share. The YT link illustrates the problem: youtu.be/IkR3H1Tnlp0

tl;dr The S8/+ only "fast" wireless charges with an OEM Samsung charger. Third-party and knockoff "fast" wireless chargers will experience the "paused" issue. They can work as standard wireless chargers but must be paired with a power adapter that forces it (non Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger and no QC 2.0+ power adapters, etc.) Previous generation Samsungs, such as the S7/Edge and Note7 (R.I.P.), do not have this limitation.

The person in the YT video must have had a knockoff (one good indicator is the hard plastic "lip" on the stand should instead be a rubberized material). I have two knockoffs myself and my results are the same. I also have a third-party Choetech and both of the previous OEM versions; pad and stand. I do not have the new convertible stand.

    The long version:

Before I start, please note that I make a clear distinction between a wireless charger and a power adapter. I refer to a wireless charger as the device which contains the inductive coils on which a smartphone rests upon for wireless charging. A power adapter is the device that plugs into a wall outlet and has a USB Type A port to supply the wireless charger with power via a USB cable (typically a USB Type A to micro USB cable). Basic stuff, I realize.

Initial reports from around the web, in particular the above YT video, pointed me in the right direction. According to my own testing and conclusions, the problem isn't the wireless charger or the power adapter but rather a seemingly intentional block placed by Samsung when attempting to use Samsung's "fast" wireless charging method on the new S8/+ with third-party or knockoff "fast" wireless chargers.

As you may know, the "fast" wireless charging method is a non-standard, proprietary Samsung technology, which is said to be compatible with standard Qi wireless charging. I have concluded that, apparently, the new S8/+ can now detect if a "fast" wireless charger is OEM or not. If it is not, you will experience the "paused" behavior when attempting to "fast" wireless charge an S8/+. However, standard wireless charging works fine on the few non-OEM "fast" wireless chargers I tested.

While you cannot select between the "fast" or standard wireless charging method by way of the wireless chargers themselves (or any that I've seen at least), you can force the wireless charging method based on the power adapter you pair the "fast" wireless charger with. Aha!

If you're like most who purchased a third-party "fast" wireless charger to use with a previous generation Samsung Galaxy, you may remember the fun of having to pair it up with the right kind of power adapter that would enable "fast" wireless charging, such as a QC 2.0+ power adapter. Using the "wrong" kind of power adapter should force a "fast" wireless charger to use standard wireless charging and then the S8/+ will no longer experience the "paused" problem. Obviously, this means the S8/+ will wirelessly charge at the standard rate.

I tested and was able to successfully "fast" wirelessly charge my S8+ with an OEM Samsung Fast Wireless Charging Pad (flat, lay down style) model EP-PN920, which is the first iteration of a "fast" wireless charger from Samsung. I was also able to successfully "fast" wirelessly charge with the next iteration wireless charger, the Samsung Fast Wireless Charging Stand (stand up style) model EP-PN930. Both were paired with a basic OEM Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger USB power adapter. I also tested the above wireless chargers paired with an AUKEY Quick Charge 2.0 Wall Charger power adapter model PA-U28 (5V/2.4A) and was able to successfully "fast" wireless charge my S8+ on the OEM Samsung wireless chargers.

I also tested a Choetech Fast Wireless Charger model T518. When paired with a power adapter that enables "fast" wireless charging, I experienced the "paused" behavior on my S8+. When paired with a power adapter that forced standard wireless charging, my S8+ was able to wirelessly charge at the standard rate without issue. This was the same result with two China knockoffs of the OEM stands (one good indicator is the hard plastic "lip" on the stand should instead be a rubberized material).

My reasoning behind this block being seemingly intentionally placed by Samsung seems pretty clear based on the above results. I think the "paused" behavior may not be intentional, however. It could also simply be a mishap with just a certain batch and Samsung may address the issue in the future. Here's to hoping, but don't hold your breath.

Suffice it to say, this is only my experience and yours might be different. Please do feel free to comment on your own experiences. I think it can be helpful to get additional perspective on the topic. Thank you.

I'm using a Pleson Fast Charge. No problems here. Back of the S8 is quite warm though.

    71%2B24T509iL._SL1500_.jpg
    2
I have two wireless pads connected to authentic samsung adaptive fast chargers. The Anker charges my S8 in fast mode all the time.

The yootech charges in standard mode even though the light on the yootech is blue, meaning fast mode. It is green in standard mode, like when i set my nexus 7 on it.

i came here to see if there was a reason, and now as im messing around on it i got the phone to go into fast mode on the yootech. i slowly slid the phone around on the pad to find the areas where it would stop charging, and when i slid it back to the center it said fast charging , for the first time.

one other thing i noticed is that fast wireless said 60% 1hr 9 min to full, and on standard it said 1hr 22 minutes. That's not much of a difference.
I swear i remember the difference between more on my note 7 but its been a while.

so i guess on the yootech i can get it into fast if i move it around and let it pause a few times.

edit: when i first set it on the yootech it will say regular wireless charging. If i slide the phone over until it pauses, then move it back it goes to fast charging. I can get it to do that every time. Odd.
    2
I returned the Choetech since I was getting the charging paused problem. Went with the Pleson and it seems to work great with my S8+.
    https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Cha...=8-5&keywords=galaxy+s8+fast+wireless+charger
Wish it were USB C though.

There seems to be only (1) USB C fast wireless charger on Amazon and it is $10 more expensive than the Pleson. Not worth it for me.

My two chargers have the exact same Serialnumber like yours.

I have the prbolem with one of them. But this one had the problem also sometimes with the S7.

I bought them online for about 13 Euro each.
