Not if your rooted, and using wireless tether from the market. It's the easiest way.

You can use the 3G hotspot (unrooted) from Verizon without getting charged by making some edits in EPST. But that's a different story, not to really be discussed here. You can easily find it with Google though ;)

Yes, I am rooted and I download wireless tether from the market. But does it matter which tether app I download. Any suggestions.

If once you start tethering and your data usage goes way up, it may well be noticed.

IMO, the tether isn't a replacement for home web access, as that will bring obvious attention to your level of data consumption.

However, usage increases from time to time from tethering should be fine.
