Wizard reboots randomly

I have a
CID unlocked G3 Wizard
New battery
3.8 SPL/IPL
running slim wm 6.1

Was working perfectly but for last 24 hrs been rebooting randomly.

Many times at bootup the splash screen appears then fades away to a white screen- has to be reset to start.

Many times freezes even when no apps are running

Reeboots like once every 5 minutes.


Be glad if anyone can throw some light on this, or should i just trash it and buy an iPhone?

Ok it helps under clock (using battstatus) the wiz. Presently running at 121 mzh and stable for 5 hours.

Could it be the custum ROM???

still the same

I stopped using the wiz for 2 weeks. let the battery run down to zero. Hard reset, charges battery from wall charger.

No sw installed.

The random reboot problem remains. Every 12-15 minutes. Hangs often, white screen is very frequent.

pared down to WM5, WM5 wiz love etc other wm6 and wm 6.1 roms all have the same problem.

also noticed, the battery becomes quite warm.

Change battery.

Yes. Just change battery. I had the same problem and getting a new battery sorted it out.

removing the sd card prevents reboots

but whats a wiz w/o a memory card.

sdhac patch and sd save batt patch tried but to not effect.

any ideas?

Try formatting your SD card... if it's a SDHC card, then that is probably the problem. SDHC patches don't work for this model pocket pc. If it isn't, then make sure you format it to FAT[fat16] format. Fat32 seems to corrupt more easily in the HTC Wizard. Good luck!
