Answering to myself. This is bug in Opera 10 final, same problem affects even HD2. So, have to use Opera 10b3 which is the last build that did not force pixel-doubling on VGA screens.

Hi. I have an bricked 4700 that shows v1.01 Serial when connected to the power and USB when connec ted to the PC. However the PC cannot 'see' it. I dont have a ROM of the original WM2003SE.

My question is whether I could install WM61 if I put on a SD card and booted from it with a hard reset, or if there another option or if I had a second 4700 could I copy the OS onto a SD from it and use that to boot up from?

Hope that you can help.

ps
please forgive me if this has been answered in a earler post. It is going to be a while for me to go through 250+ pages!

Completely died after flash to WM6

I flash up and after gettinf the "Code entry point unknown" message did a soft reset as per post on here. Got the HP screen stating 2.01 after five minutes of non-activity pressed soft reset whereupon it switched off, won't switch on again and wont charge. Its as if the whole machine has been fried!I ttaken out the backup battery and put in back in again.

My only hope is that something is actually happening and if I leave it long enough it will spring to life so I've left it charging.

Anyone encountered this tale of woe?

I've installed Pocket Informant 8.5 and WM6 Outlook wont lookup email addresses from it. Is this a knwon bug. In fact is there a list features missing compared with the vanilla HP WM6.0?

Is this the miost stable and feature-rich version of WM6.1 for the 4700 in your opinion? I have Khozura WM6 at the moment.

Thanks

yes its worth it

I did the upgrade and it was worth it. Now I have access to all the latest apps. It's like a new machine now. It might take you a little bit to figure out the upgrade method but it didn't take long to actually do.

Hi, I flashed to wm6.1 alkor. All works fine, but I left the ipaq in my cabinet for two days and when I try to use again, there are dead! I connect to the power and just appear the hp starting screen 2.01, don`t change, don`t make anything! when I press the soft-reset button, the screen is dark and to get the light again I need to do this: itask+contacts+soft-reset...but again just are the starting screen forever, don`t charge, and don`t connect to the computer, what can I do? Please help me! Thanks.

Don't want to brick it...if possible

Hi all

New to this forum, new to hx4700 PDA...hence, probably some stupid questions ( even if I spent a lot of time reading the posts, but I'm pretty confused )

i've just got a second hand hx4700 still under WM2003 and would like to upgrade it to WM6...
Could some one tell me which upgrade is best (kozhura, Alkor...) and what to do to avoid bricking the PDA

Is this combination OK and bullet proof
Bootloader_gui.exe + WM6.1_for_HP_IPAQ_4700_kozhura_Edition_R5.rar

I need your assistance with my hx4700 new 2GB SD card. At this point, I'm still deciding wether to purchase the Sandisk 2 GB Extreme III SD or the Transcend 2Gb SD Card 150X. Also, I've noticed that the cost of these cards are almnost the same.

Oh, yes, I must admit, I'm quite embarrassed still running 2003 SE. However, I need your help in deciding on those aforementioned cards.

Thanks,
Tony

If you are only using your card in the hx4700 (rather than in a USB connector directly to a computer), I doubt it makes much difference as you will be held back by the speed of the device.

In addition, I'm planning to use the SD card to run all my programs, and use the CF slot for other miscalleneous storage.

Again, thanks.

Thanks,
Tony

paying extra for these type of cards is a waste of money as the device can not use the speed. normal speed cards are quite fine and cheaper..

What's your suggestions for running programs, should I use the SD or CF card for running programs?

Also, what speed of SD or CF card should I purchase?

Again, thanks for your help.

Thanks,
Tony
