Pie or Oreo? For Oreo try Idans port v3.5.
But as written here: compared to other devices the ports for s9/s9+ with exynos processor unfortunately don't optimize images that much

Just to make things clear. Last few days I compared Xiaomi Mi 8 (same lens and SD as P3) with the best GCam against the idan 3.5 GCam mod for my s9+ Exynos oreo. Results were pretty amazing on both phones. If you are using the 2.4 lens on the s9+, the GCam for the s9 Exynos is superior! (yes I also used hdr Enhanced in the Mi 8) Test it yourself. If you know how to use the right settings and switching between the lenses, the s9+Exynos Gcam port is in 8/10 scenarios the better GCam if compared to the Mi 8 ones (which should almost be identical with the p3).

The only downside is that it takes time to capture the pics.. With the Mi 8 I can use just HDR+ without shutter lag and pictures are always good! So for just point and shoot the Exynos versions are not as good. I also came to the conclusion that the colors on the s9 with the Samsung sensors are more realistic what I absolutely prefer! This is why I also can't understand the hype with that night sight s..t. If I wanna capture pictures in extremely low light situations, I want that it looks like exactly I see things. This is why I absolutely love the gorgeous LG V20 auto mode. It takes awesome realistic pictures and this is why the idan 3.5 is absolutely stunning for my needs on the s9+ Exynos.

:) just my two cents (I always wanted to write that)

In my opinion the snapdragon versions are delivering a better picture quality. Even when the camera hardware isn't as good as the one of the S9. Tested with: Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi 6.
Since you talked about the right settings: What do you suggest?

Puh that's hard to say. Like I said there are no perfect settings. This is why the most users would prefer the Pixel 3s point and shoot capabilities with zero shutter lag. Actually I'm using the default IDan settings with the 2.4 aperture. For Low lighted situations of course 1.5. For scenarios with many different light sources (sorry I don't know a good English word for it :D) or a pub street for example with many lighted logos I'm using hdr with 24 Bursts with 2 4 bc it makes the light cleaner as the 1.5. During my tests I came to the decision that the Mi 8 shows more details when zooming in but with noise. And I was like hmm what do I prefer... Then I set the noise multiplier on the s9 Exynos to 100% and he'll it was almost the identical picture, also when zooming in. (except that the s9 shows a little little little more realistic colors. But maybe 10% better. So not really nexesaarry ectially. But I changed back to 160% multiplier because if details are missing no one knows. ;) but if there is noise everyone can see :p. I'm sure you know what I mean haha. And because of the wider 2.4 lens the s9 is more capable on sunny days. Especially if the sun is in the game. The 1.8 aperture of the most Smartphones aren't not the best for that. Look at the more shadow areas in the picture. The s9 2.4 shows of course more detail and is not that dark like the 1.8 of the Mi 8s. (but I have to admit that I'm not a photo specialist!! Not at all. Just my own opinion.) I'm not sure if the Snapdragon version for the s9 is that customizable like the Exynos idan 3.5. So I can't compare. I'd love it to compare it with a s9+ Snapdragon with 2.4 aperture. :good: I don't need a camera for point and shoot so this s9+ is very very stunning, at least to me!! Too bad I deleted all my conlarissiom pictures. The idan 3.5 Exynos is the reason why I will always stick to oreo and because I don't like the clock on the left side of the top Haha. Never mind. Attached two very very decent pictures Anyway. Love them. (not my car)

Thanks again. Just to make sure: You know there's a 3.5 fix version that's working with Pie? I'm using it with LOS 16 unofficial.

Ah thx okay. Jaa but I also hate the design of PIE and I'd miss the pro video mode. Im facing the experience that the smartphones released OS is the best one. That's why in gonna stick with oreo. If my galaxy note 4 haven't died after 3 years I'd still go with KitKat because it just ran! Even after years. Upgraded it to marshmallow and I hated it! And with a new version of pie I can't go back and this is sooo bad! Maybe I'll try it some day with the first version with 2 Bootloader with opportunity of going back to oreo. Never change a running system :). And nope im not that old. 28.:D

Front camera locked by Samsung. They want u go enjoy their washed out and bleached portraits.... This phone is a joke. No wonder u can buy it for 1/3 of a price now. Never Samsung for me again. Especially if u want the best camera, only iPhone to go! Even old ones

I compared my s9's camera to my friend's iPhone X. My camera just was much better especially in HDR, the selfie isn't as good in terms of colours but it's not a big seal since I edit my photos after I take them. Edge detection in selfie portraits is better on the S9 though. I don't know why some people exaggerate in this department, even youtubers said that the S9 has an excellent camera.
If you are nitpicking then every phone has its strengths and its weaknesses, a phone can not be perfect.

Lol the same Apple user troll from reddit, go find a life. If you do not like the S9 do not buy it and use your iPhone.

Here is my version of Google camera for your device. I added the samsung specific settings live hdr, metering mode, also phase autofocus and optical stabilization. I've also make it work the aperture change so now u can select between 1.5 and 2.4 aperture. When i will some free time i will add also slow shutter options. For front camera it's really hard for me to fix it as long as i would need the device to test and to make more refinements. Later i will try to fix pixel 2017 too!

https://drive.google.com/open?id=11nPdMkhiytoSOMznGHAGXFx4T6WbjkQM download it from the browser and not from the app to avoid install issues!

Here is another one version so that pixel and nexus 6 HDR+ can work on your device, however when you deactivate the pixel 2017 toggle you should select nexus 6 model otherwise you won't see anything. It took a huge amount time to fix pixel and nexus 6!
I added also the refocus option so there is no toggle between portrait and refocus and the toggle to enable the PDAF (phase detection autofocus for dual pixel): on portrait mode the detection could be more precise but don't expect to work on objects beacuse pixel has some extra API for collecting dual sensor data while Samsung doesn't. There are also auto-exposure settings like arnova's but on exynos don't work that good so i will add when i will have some free time the slow shutter options.
Also stability is improved, at least on my phone (s8) but i don't know on s9.

Added the GCam auto-restart on settings changed. Probably like this is more easy so you dont have to restart every time
