I've been using Wichaya's GCam on my Zenfone 8 for a few months and playing around with the Ram Patcher settings. The Asus stock camera gives better results which have more "pop", are accurately exposed, have way more shadow detail and often have better colour than this GCam. The GCam shots are too dark, lack shadow detail and often have a slight magenta cast.
The Asus camera over-sharpens most of the image and smoothes highlight detail. Unfortunately Asus doesn't provide any way to adjust the sharpening. I prefer the more natural look of the Wichaya GCam and have managed to alter some RamPatcher settings to make it look closer to the Asus camera results.
I have also tried the Shamim SGCam on my Zenphone 8. At the default settings the pictures look similar to Wichaya's with my customised Ram Parcher settings, but they're even more over-sharpened than the Asus camera and give foliage a flattened 2D feel. I haven't found a way to reduce the sharpening so I won't be using it.
The differences between pictures shot with these three cameras are hardly noticeable on a phone screen, and may not make that much difference seen on a laptop but I'm a photographer and prefer the more natural look of the Wichaya GCam. I'm still playing about with the Ram Patcher settings and trying to get better results.
I haven't found any guide to adjusting Wichaya's Ram Patcher settings and differet Mods use different parameters - I hope Wichaya can make a brief guide sometime.
At the moment I use the Asus stock camera for family snaps, etc, and the Wichaya GCam (Jpeg + RAW) for shots that I'd like to process and get the best from.
I've attached shots from each camera that you can compare to see what suits you.
