I agree, I forgot my watch at a friend's house and felt completely lost, just because my phone is always on silent and I only take it out when I need to.

that might change when the watch face api for android wear is released....

i'm surprised actually there's only been 2 wear watches released so far
Asus is planning another one too. I do feel that I have to state that Android Wear's main selling point is it's integration with Google Now, and as I live in a country where most Google services are throttled or outright blocked, I don't see the point in a Wear product.

Yes it does, but a major difference between a Wear watch and the SW2 is the integration with Google Now. You can get your Now cards with a 3rd party app(as mentioned somewhere above). The only time I truly experience Google Now(notification cards) is when I go back home. So I never really got used to them. I do however agree with you. The reason I have my Smartwatch is for the notifications. I am truly dependant on my watch.

Hi guys,

Really nooby question..

Can you get full use out of these without having a Sony phone?

I saw on the website the email etc 'requires' a Sony xperia phone to work? Or can you just install an app on the phone to get a similar thing?

I dont use my Gmail, so would be something to send notifications for the standard 'email' app :)

Would I lose out on anything else?

Thinking of getting it for use on a Moto G

Thanks for help and advice - and app suggestions to make the most of the watch!

You can use the sw2 for every android phone. Just download smart connect and smartwatch 2 app from Google play and you are ready to go. Notifications work for every app.

yep, SW2 works with all android phones (only requirement is at least version 4.0 of the OS)

worked perfectly with my HTC Butterfly S and now works perfectly with my LG G3
