what if?

Less than 1 Minute ago!:
Looks like it will be coming but since it can't bypass the "Genuine" check, the OS is pretty useless.

I wonder if you can still use wifi and surf the internet and do everything without using LIVE services.
Heck, I don't even use live.com, hotmail.com, xbox, and all that other stuff.

I hope I can still use OneNote though ;)

Anyone?

As well as MAGLDR development (used by Android & WP7) a bit delayed, because some problems takes more time.

it will be released soon, but don't expect anything from it - without Live services it's not really usable :-(
2 minutes ago via web

But new "Windows Phone Genuine" doesn't allow to use any Windows Live services :-( So it's mostly "Demo" of WP7. No bypass ways are known

We (DFT team) at the end able to run WP7 on our LEOs, most of stuffs are really working: GSM,GPRS,Camera,GSensor,USB,SD,BT,WLAN,etc.

Windows Phone 7 (MyPhone Service)

Credit:

http://social.answers.microsoft.com...7/thread/50d27b70-9cd3-4939-b919-33f859de7fca

The MyPhone service that is provided for WM6.x devices and the Windows Live Phone service that is provided for WP7 devices are not the same thing and do not provide the same level of service. There is no connectivity between these services either and no way to move data from the My Phone service to the Windows Live Phone service. Here is some clarification about these two services:

There is no way to download any of the data that is stored in My Phone to a WP7 device

There is no way to export any of the data that is stored in My Phone to Outlook or to the new Windows Live Phone service

The Windows Live Phone service does not back anything up....it seems to be more of a control panel that provides links to other services that are used by a WP7 device (for example, you'll see a link on the Windows Live Phone page to Contacts and another link to Appointments, but these are just links that take you to the Contacts and Calendar pages where you sync this data.)

The Windows Live Phone service does not backup text messages at...

•There is no way to backup text messages on a WP7 device at this time,
•There is no way to restore text messages that are backed up on a My Phone account to a WP7 device
The Windows Live Phone service does provide some services that are similar to My Phone's Premium services (such as Find my Lost Phone/ Lock my Phone / Wipe my Phone)

MAGLDR is out , but this version does not support WM6.5 flashing or WP7 flashing...

so the wait continues

Freeware XAP's from Marketplace

Some news for those who want WP7 on HD2 but are worried about not having access to download even freeware WP7 free apps because of the problem with device authetication.

This program: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894502 downloads freeware apps from the Marketplace and removes the DRM automatically. I don't believe it's pirating because it only downloads free ones, but there might be some legal implications to removing DRM.

I have an HD7. It's unlocked with ChevronWP7. I just deployed one of these XAP's to my HD7 with Tom's XAP Deployer tool and it worked perfectly. Just a heads up for those of you who were worried about not having access to the WP7 marketplace on the HD2 due to the lack of cloud services.

"If" the wp7 rom comes out. Can we use hotmail, facebook and twitter? or is this also enabled like the market, zune and xbox??
This was my question too. I wouldn't mind having no access to live services as long as I have access to these services. I also have another question: Is this rom being adapted from the one on the HD7? If so, does that mean the HD2 port will have the htc hub too?

I don't think that hotmail will be working the way you might want it (push mail, calender & contacts sync) as this is part of the ms live-services.
If I'm wrong then please correct me ;)

but you can use hotmail via exchange ActiveSync...so i dont think there is a problem with push mail, contacts and calendar.

I would suggest 50% Android phones & 50% WP7 phones, though i prefer wp7 as it combines home & office in a better and convenient way! :)

we use VPN with BSD.
the main office Server is an MS Advanced 2008 with Active Directory.
But all other Servers are Linux and NetBSD.

At home 1/3 has Ubuntu, 2/3 WinXP

Most really have FreeNAS or Openfiler and PS3 or XBox.

Taff question now :-(

Your proposal is not too bad, maybe I let everybody really decide for himself :-/

WP7 Live Services Security Cracked, Full HD2 Port Imminent?
File under: News
By: Evan Blass | 11:59 AM 6-Jan-11 | 8 Comments

Highly-regarded Windows Mobile developer and XDA senior moderator Da_G has reportedly been able to bypass the Genuine Advantage security protection on Windows Phone 7, enabling him to get live services like Xbox, Marketplace, and Zune working on an HTC HD2. The news was casually passed along by senior member AndrewSh, a user with over 1,000 posts. With the Dark Forces Team -- the group behind MAGLDR and HD2 NAND Android booting -- having successfully gotten WP7 running on HD2, the only real challenge up to this point has been enabling full functionality with regards to the services that "phone home" to Microsoft.

Notably, it was Da_G himself who lamented on the heavy cloud-based security back in November, stating that:

"Nearly all the major functions on the device operate by shuttling data to and from the “cloud”, presenting different methods to the user for getting their data on to the device. However as these services interact quite a bit with Microsoft’s own servers, they have considerably beefed up the security in this area. Each device contains a “Device Provisioning Partition” or DPP that contains a unique certificate assigned to the device at the factory. Each certificate is verified locally by the device in several places, and also uploaded and verified by the “Cloud” for each transaction. Loading Windows Phone 7 on to a device that did not originally come with the platform would result in having an invalid certificate, and these services will not function properly."

Well apparently Da_G has found a way to fool or otherwise bypass this Device Provisioning Partition, so that when a WP7 build is eventually released for HD2, it should be almost fully functional (although it will still require the use of a RAM loader, as opposed to a direct flash a la Windows Mobile). Since Da_G has been maintaining radio silence on XDA since Christmas, this development has yet to be verified, so we'll update when this becomes official.
