so i'm guessing that music, since a part of the OS, couldn't be easily restored/transferred either.No and No. Neither of those are "app data" as they are part of the OS.
Hi there.so i'm guessing that music, since a part of the OS, couldn't be easily restored/transferred either.
i saw a while back before doing a hard reset that you are able to, i believe with some registry edits on the PC, see all the folders that are on the phone include the album/artists/podcasts/video directory that is in the zune hub.
I thought you'd be able to just copy those folders onto desktop, then copy the same folders back onto the phone, but that didn't' work at all. Would you happen to know of any way where i'd be able to copy all the music from one phone and get it onto another.
yeah....i'm very aware of that. problem is, from what i've learned from @winphonesupport on twitter, there's no way you can create an "image" of all the songs that you have synced on one phone, so that you can transfer all those songs onto a second phone when upgrading or replacing a device.Hi there.
Zune software on PC or Laptop can send to and fro videos and music.
Hope I Have Been Of Help. PEACE!!!
yeah i actually did this a few days ago...i totally forgot that the zune software had a copy to local disk feature. only took a few minutes to setup, and worked like a charm. thanks anyways thoughThe usual answer to your problem, @simbaddogg, is to change the media folder that Zune uses for music. Make it something like "C:\MyPhoneMusic" or some such - the folder needs to exist, but should be empty initally. Stop monitoring any other music folders.
Then, connect your phone to Zune, and drag all the music from the phone to the PC. This will copy all music off the phone and onto your computer in the specific folder. Meanwhile, that's the only music that Zune sees on your PC. When you want to put music back from the PC to the phone, you can just sync it all back and only those specific files will get copied. Afterwards, you can make Zune monitor the correct folders again, and delete the temporary folder you used to store the PC's version of your phone's music library.
Note: this method also works for pictures/videos/etc.
Hope that helps!
crashes for me toosame here... perhaps a windows x64 issue?
theres a much more simpler way...yeah i actually did this a few days ago...i totally forgot that the zune software had a copy to local disk feature. only took a few minutes to setup, and worked like a charm. thanks anyways though
::edit::
yeah i need to make sure that next time i actually do it by changing the folder. instead i just created a new folder, moved all the songs to that folder, then copied to collection. essentially the same thing, but i could have saved the extra time of copying/deleting. but again, thanx
+1 here!Can someone, who is having the tool please upload it again. The old link in first post is expired. Need this Very Very Badly
