What I mean is to use a powered charger eg from HTC or samsung and plug in to usb with it off and try to hold the vol - and tape the power button
Tried a standard wall plug from U8150. Combo of buttons and no result.....

We have tried usb jigs etc???
Shorting x & y pins on usb?
Or even power pins...

Sony should just tell us how :D

Ps I have posted a question on developer.sony.com
Supprise, supprise no reply yet

I think you're right about the blinking part, man. Ok, ill try some stuff and get back to you all.
Stupid Q, does the screen stay blank when in apx? does the sony logo come before the apx mode?

Found something! check /sys/firmware/fuse. in it is a lot of config related stuff to the sbk and boot. I know something from here will make it work. Devs, HELP OUT!

Yeh blinking part does seem right as that is when windows makes 'device plugged in' 'device removed' then 'device plugged in' sound again.

I have looked at device manager when tablet is booting, but as device manger does not refresh that quikly I can not see it.

could the settings at /sys/firmware/fuse have anything to do with it?
Surprisingly, when it asks for the driver to install (at bootup) i pointed it to android bootloader interface and it accepted it and installed it. How come? Could it be possible that an update.zip could pull out the files that we need?

So, we are back to square one. What about the update.zip idea? Shouldn't that work? Incidentally, would a usb jig work on the tablet? thinking of getting one.

Hi everyone,

I have used NVflash on my old Dell Streak 7 and to enter the mode you had to power down, hold volume up and down simultaneously, and then make your USB connection to the PC. Try something similar with various button combos.

My DS7 is now out of commission and I picked up an Acer A200 which is in the same boat regarding the locked down NVflash mode so I am also looking for a work around or the actual secure boot key.

Can someone get new links for the key gen website? I tried it but the link or website is down. I would love to try that solution and see if the key works.

yeeeeeeeah i was so excited, even wanted to put charger, and keep it in apx mode as long as we could get and make some good things... but it just turned off.
ehhh how did i done it? it was another of several tries to make root, i experimented with turning on/off mtp device in device manager, first of screenshots shows, when apx mode jumped in. i think its concerned in correct rebooting device, but there should be some combination/scenario of behavior to get into apx mode.

C:\Users\Admin\Downloads\NVFlash>nvflash --sync
Nvflash started
rcm version 0X4
Command send failed (usb write failed)
-------------------------------------
only this is what i got before it went out.
Correct me if i'm wrong but I think Sony used APX mode for flashing and more :)

yeah, i also think that is related to battery. i disassembled my tab few times, tried some combinations with on/off internal switch, no luck with apx. also tried to ground 'charging' socket - all one by one pins of it. without result. also tried special service microusb cable, with 3 options with resistors - which i use for example for galaxy s - to force download mode - without luck on sony..

about grounding - testpoint - a lot of sony ericsson phones had backdoor in that way, simple grounding one point of service interface.

today i thought about nfx services - they're involved in all of that recovery mistery, decrypting update.zip, and i think that also in apx thing.

apx mode appeared when i was trying to get root - again after hmmm... 5-10 failed try. so maybe nfx logged some number of reboots, reboots in random time, when copying, when some adb commands where running, and forced device to apx mode?

of course its just a theory :p
Could be a bug or the APX mode itself is trying to keep you out
