It's clearly spyware on other BBK phones, so safe to assume the same applies to vivo. Reported you again for flaming
So you made a post about an assumption you got ( again ) . You got no proof for what you said but you still report me for flaming ? Thats fine . We all know here that the number 1 flamer on this forum its you . You managed to piss off lots of members here . Get a life , man .

Without root it's not possible to proof what happens, but as all China OS phones forward text messages to Chinese servers, and OnePlus and realme use com.android.mms for this, calling this app spyware on a China OS vivo phone is a very safe assumption. Now removing rights to that app may help but it's impossible to know if it's not secretly still sending personal data to Chinese servers without permission.

It's pretty clear that even the deep debloat script cannot remove all Chinese spyware. It can only remove some and remove all Chinese bloatware.

So as long as you cannot prove this doesn't happen, and knowing that vivo here is just following China law, it's very safe to assume China OS isn't spyware free, or even possible to make it spyware free - because then vivo would not stick to Chinese laws

Its still assumptions . So what you said its considered a lie unless you can proove it otherwise . Most probably you'll be sanctioned . And all the forum will be happy 😉

Sorry but, it was a useless comment. Spying? Okay so you accuse the Chinese of spying? How can you trust other messaging/calling apps more than the Chinese apps? Don't you think other apps are spying?

Just throw your phone in the bin & don't buy one again if you feel you're being spied on.

I just got warned because im stating facts regarding him. You cant talk via assumptions forever, 0 proofs. Vivo name its not appearing in the document he showed, he influences new potential buyers and so on. It was a useless comment like 90% of the what he speaks . But well... It is what it is .

He's accusing a specific race of people of spying, basically he's being racist. He's the one who should have been warned. Not you.

China as a state is not a race. There are several races of people living there, the biggest is Han...

It's well known that the PRC has different rules regarding data security and privacy vs Europe or America. Also clearly as the above study has shown the producers are aware of this and only spy/transmit personal data on their China OS not on their global OS.
I don't doubt that USA and EU also spy, but not to such a high degree. See the discussions around Signal messenger and it's clear that USA/Europe would like more data too. However so far Signal is only forbidden to be used in China. It's well known and acknowledged that WeChat doesn't even send some messages if they contain certain content, like references to Winnie the Pooh and Xi Jingping. So a proper debloat of a vivo phone with China (PRC) OS must include phone and messenger to be spyware free. The same rules that apply to WeChat of course also apply to any sort of messenger/telephone call used inside China.
Vivo phones with funtouch OS instead of Origin OS very likely only send some metadata without permission to China as shown in the study but no personal data.

I did not expect to see this unlocked, so I made a new thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/debloat-script-v2-6-vivo-x90-pro.4556209/

Though we can continue in this thread, however I think there is a LOT of off-topic and outdated information here. So I would recommend that we post in the new thread I made and please heed the mod's warning to keep things strictly on-topic.

The new thread still has a link to this one if people need to follow it back for any reason.

Thanks and enjoy your day.

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for this thread. I am expecting to receive my x90PP any day now. I went through every single page and thread in this post and, to be honest, I thought I would sum up what needs to be done, and what cant be done.

What cant be done : android Auto, google assistant, google timeline

What I need to do when I get phone:
1) install the latest google playstore from Apkmirror ( latest is 34.2.14 not 33?) and Gboard
2) use the x90pro_debloat_v2.5 (I see 2.1 2.4 and 2.5. I assume same script updates)
3) here I am boot confused as to whats the main difference between debloat90 and debloatv_deep although the names speak for themselves, but what is the least risky. I presume both take care of notification issue?
4)remove vivo.pem or is it removed with either or both debloaters
5) remove the vivo wallet manually for google wallet to work? or is wallet also removed with debloat script.
6) set refresh rate with adb command to 144 or 90 etc (although not sure why if its there).
7) if using the debloat script is there a need for going to ADB app control to remove further apps?

thanks..Im just trying to make it a one stop thread for people to follow because the post imo is getting lengthy and a bit confusing, yet critical.

PLEASE advise if I am missing any step that I need to take as well?

Thanks so much

Vivo X90 Pro Plus
@Thanos88 Hi can you please tell me if you managed to solve the issue where WhatsApp's floating notifications (aka chat bubbles) don't pop up and only the icon appears in the status bar whilst the phone is unlocked?

Nope - that*s not the problem. I*m using navigation buttons not gestures - so with Vivo launcher uninstalled - nothing happens when clicking on the recent apps drawer. I went the traditional method and followed this video to install Nova (many other places forgot to mention somethings)

Then I finally debloated the phone. Oh and I set DPI to 520 - the default 560 is too high for me (560 in smallest setting).
Have you found a way to fix recent apps with the 3 buttons bar ? I am in the exact situation. But I use KISS launcher. Vivo Launcher takes so much battery.
Thanks man !

Hi,
i removed some of the apps (not all) with the debloat-Script. Now the weather-app keeps crashing when i try to open it. The widget is still working.
Does anybody know, which package could it be that i have to re enable?

Seems with next update impossible to remove vivo.pem anymore as it will also show user restricted message. So anyone who hasn't removed it by then good bye notifications...
Its already the case on vivo x fold (2).

Vivo really seems to know how to make their O.S. even worse.

If this continues like this then by android 14 adb will be useless as you then can only use it to remove apps that you could remove via O.S. app manager anyhow...
    2
@allonssvp you don't need to remove com.vivo.pem or any system packages to get notifications to work

    - Allow 'high power consumption' (probably not even needed)
    - Allow the 'auto start' permission
    - Configure notifications (different apps have different defaults where some only enable sound or silent notifications with no bubbles)
    2
@allonssvp that's the same person who believes a factory reset somehow modifies the OS causing integrity issues. Personally haven't experienced a single issue with receiving notifications in all the months I've had this phone but your mileage may vary of course.

Hi, just to let you know, we are finally able to remove via adb even previously uninstallable apps thanks to hack described here - https://stackoverflow.com/a/75192739/1616437 . Basically e.g.
    adb shell service call package 131 s16 com.vivo.browser i32 0 i32 0

Well it fits perfectly into the strategy that the Chinese decide how you should use your phone and which apps work reliably, which apps are working but cumbersome and which apps will be blocked by censorship.

Because apps like WhatsApp, Instagram or especially tinder are quite common in China for people who have some connections with outside China (that's a minority, but still at least hundred million people). The great firewall, leaky banning of VPN and so where always at least as much to support Chinese software houses as they where a tool to censor people. That we cannot remove vivo.pem anymore on phones intended for Chinese market only is just a strengthening of this principle. And unlike Xiaomi for which exports due to bootloader unlock and flashable global ROM are actually a small but significant market, they aren't for vivo.
That's also why Vivo has not blocked band 20. They intend to provide a phone that is usable in the way the Chinese government seems fit only, so if your phone outright doesn't work for people who want to use apps/tools that are not intended to be used by Chinese government, you don't need to remove band 20 and annoy the hordes of Chinese tourists when they travel to Europe.

Every os update so far made adg debloat harder and less effective by blocking more and more apps to be removed. Vivo.pem is just the final and most important one for user experience. That you cannot (easily) remove the spyware tools vivo.abe and push.notifications was a kick on experienced users, that you cannot remove vivo.pem is a kick in the but of mainstream users to comply with Chinese authority app choices. Because those Chinese users that use foreign apps most also remove vivo.pem.

Should vivo decide to reinstall vivo.pem via a firmware update, eg update to origin OS 4, then it's game over.

The only strange thing is that vivo is alone with that vivo.pem app so far in BBK. Their other brands don't have it yet and you can get notifications to work for all apps without debloat.

Hi guys, I give you a new tool thanks @Pervokur help (credit inside the script)

You must decompress zip in a directory and click on debloatx90.bat file or DebloatX90v_deep.bat (delete all chinese and vivo app inside the smartphone).
Reverse.bat and ReverseX90v_deep.bat restore all Vivo app
    6
How did you manage to get rid of the remaining Chinese bloatware? Nice find with the fingerprint btw 💐
The same way the OP's script does. Here's my list of packages that I disabled. Be aware that disabling all of them might break some other things! But you can always re-enable them by replacing the first "i32 0" in the command with "i32 1".

Install unknown apps problem after deep Debloat.
i can not install any apk, , i can only install via google play.
    solve it?
Go to apps > show system apps > find package installer app > uninstall updates, force stop, clear cache & then clear data > reboot your phone.

It should now install APKs. Let me know if it works

Hey, how & where do I execute the decompressed file?

Does the phone need to be in a specific "mode" when executing the file?

First of all you need to enable developer options.

System management > About phone > Version info > keep tapping on "Software version" until it says you are now a developer.

Now, go back to system management and scroll to the bottom. You should see "developer options" now. Open it and enable "USB Debugging".

To get the .bat file to actually work, you also need to have ADB drivers installed. I'm assuming you already have those?

Does the decompressed file remove ALL Chinese bloatware?

Not all, there's a few ones remaining

If I want to remove any other bloatware, what should I type as a adb command?

The easiest way by far to do this is to get https://adbappcontrol.com/en/
It's a GUI tool to disable or remove apps via adb.

There are some apps that can be considered bloatware that won't be removed. For example there's

    com.vivo.carlauncher
    com.vivo.voicewakeup

that I tried to remove but couldn't. Perhaps if they were added to the .bat script in the same manner as the other package names, then it would work?

On the lockscreen, if you swipe left, you get a whole page of Chinese writing. What app is this & how can I remove it permanently?

Settings> Home screen, lock screen & wallpaper > Lock screen setings > Lockscreen poster > simply disable it.

Hey, could you possibly add ALL Chinese bloatware apps to the script ? I don't want to see any Chinese text on my phone 😂y

Yes my next script will be in this way
