Sorry, contable, I had not read this post. :(
And yes, it has become a great tool. I use constantly, is very comfortable and effective. :good:
It is an application that needs interop unlock, so I think it would be cool "wp8Interop explorer", the two possibilities that you mentioned, together, not one of the two.
Maybe this name is too long. Check the space I have in the right upper corner...

As @-W_O_L_F- has released the AppData Backuper app I decided not to implement the AppData backup feature in PDF to Office.

Instead of I decided to add support for AppData Backuper:

1. Display of all files in a created backup folder
2. Display the name of the backed up app and its product-id
3. Ability to zip a created backup folder
4. Button for direct-launching the AddData Backuper App.

Screenshots below.

Note: the current release version of PDF to Office crashes while opening a backup folder. Fix will come with next release !

You could solve this by removing the Office and Adobe Reader button and replace them with a button Apps or removing them all together as you have stated that you wanted this app to be more then a PDF to Docx converter. Don't forget to add the "Convert to..." option in the context menu, maybe you could expand this like : txt, xml, doc (Word 2003). I've noticed you can't navigate a folder up in the public folder, this needs to be fixed as well if you want this app to become a WP8 (File) Explorer (= my suggestion for a name).

Thanks for your suggestions.

1. The app never has been designed to be a converter for PDF files => read post #1 from the beginning for better understanding what was the intention to create the app
2. You can´t navigate a folder up in the public folder because of missing permissions. The public folder has to be set as root folder.
3. The Adobe Reader and Office Hub buttons I will not remove because the app has been designed for my personal use.

Just call it explorer.exe and extract the icon from your Windows 7 or 8 installation. It's a shorter name, but is that functionality essentially what you are aiming for?
Also it would be awesome of you could have plugin support for SAMBA or whatever MS calls it these days, but as a client. Someone else can take the time to try and make a host/server edition later.

The name of the app isn´t so important atm, but thanks for your suggestion.:good:

More important is that today I found out how to get access to folders I couldn´t access so far...

When all basic functions have been added we will talk again about new features. E.g. I would like to add box.com support, because it´s my preferred cloud storage service.

Very impressive work! I need to step up my own homebrew game...

Can you say a bit more about the "get access to folders I couldn't access so far"? I've tried a couple approaches to that unsuccessfully, and shelved it for the time being until I found a way to elevate app privileges. Sounds like you may have found something?

EDIT: feel free to PM me if it's something you don't want to publicize.

I decided to rename the app to "IO Explorer". Screenshots are attached. A new thread will be opened when the initial release version is ready.

Beside the allready known features I have added a lot of new features. Highlights are:

1. Zip support
2. Opened email attachments management (all kind of files)
3. App Data backup/restore via zip
4. Browsing App Data folders of all installed apps
...

Regards
