XDA app vs tapatalk

I am about to buy tapatalk app, but before I do I want to make sure I can't make due with my xda app.

I have the premium xda app and its been hit or miss with my N7. Replying to a topic usually gives an error only after I have typed the whole thing. Force closing the app temporarily fixes the issue. Anyone else have this issue? The Dev seems to have abandoned the app.

So if I buy tapatalk which one do I buy? I see there is a new one that is more money.

Interesting. I don't have the issue on my N4. Only thing that I can think of is in mg N7 I use the widget to access the forums, maybe that's causing the problem.

I'll try out just using the app and see if the issue corrects itself.

The only question I would ask yourself is, do you only surf the xda forums? If yes then the xda app is your guy. Tapatalk allows you access to any forum that has the tapatalk plugin.

I use both only because I feel the xda is more refined than tapatalk.....

Don't buy tapatalk until they release a stable version. The app has fallen way off. Everytime I use it i have to keep signing it. Subscribed threads disappear. Its not worth it right now.

I own both and XDA HD... I'm using Premium now.

Tapatalk is... weird.

XDA HD is cool but a little wonky. In order to startup on Favorites, you actually have to choose "PM" from the drop down. I've used Premium and HD both interchangeably. I've tried to use Tapatalk but it didn't last long.

Running 4.0.24 on all my devices and none of them are exhibiting the issues that you're describing.

I can't even install XDA Premium on to my N7 FHD. I've tried every way I could think of, even after a factory reset with no other apps installed, and I always get Error 403. That said, I'm able to install XDA Premium HD just fine, and it works, just can't get "Favorites as default view upon opening" to stick. I wanted to try out the non-HD version on here to see if it would work then. had purchased them both over a year ago for my phones and other tablets, so it's no big deal if I can't install the non-HD version, was just wanting to see how it looked/functioned on here as well.

EDIT : I've purchased XDA Premium, XDA Premium HD, and Tapatalk by Xparent - Skyblue. They each serve their own purposes.

Thanks guys. Guess I'll just stick with XDA premium app.

I've been using it for a few days now with no issues. I am pretty certain that their is a glitch if you access the forums via the favorites widget.

Same here. Most of my forum reading on my N7 is in the XDA forums. I just like the XDA app better.:D

so for the nex7, its better to use xda HD instead of regular xda?
Honesty, I'm not even sure what the difference is between XDA Premium HD and the standard XDA app, or the difference between XDA Premium and the standard XDA app. I simply bought the 2 paid versions to support XDA, 1 version for my tablets and 1 version for my phones. I will say that XDA Premium will not install on my N7 FHD or Asus Infinity, only XDA Premium HD. Vise versa as well, Premium HD won't install on my Note 2, Evo LTE, or Evo 3D, only XDA Premium will. XDA Premium HD is the tablet version, while XDA Premium is the phone version. I assume the standard XDA app works on tablets and phones, but I only used the standard version for a very short time, and that was years ago.
