Question Xiaomi 11T - Whatsapp media download error

I have a Xiaomi 11T for about 4 months and it had been working fine until today.

Today I started experiencing a major issue when downloading things from Whatsapp Chats.

Whenever I start a download, the app freezes and the download bar on the notification area remains stuck and I can't even cancel it. The only way to make it disappear is by enabling data use restriction from app info.

I have pictures and audio set to automatic download so they work fine, but the issue occurs with videos and documents.

I've tried different connections (mobile, home wifi, work wifi) and nothing helped. Also contacted whatsapp support but they've been extremely evasive and none of the steps they suggested like turning off the phone and on again after 30s resolved the problem. Even reinstalled the app to no avail.

I noticed that some very small files get download like a 1,7kB PDF but everything larger than 500kB are likely to crash.

Phone has around 46GB of free space (82/128GB).

So I reinstalled the app again and it worked fine.

When I first reinstalled, I quit the beta program before downloading but for some reason I still got this 2.22.24.24 Beta.

Now, after quitting Beta for some hours, I got the stable version 2.22.23.77 and it's working.

Please close/archive the thread as need.
