How to flash an initial WM10 rom (3.12.2015)
** first step if you are coming from android **

Tutorial:

flash method working .. tested :cowboy:

*** next to problems with installing mentioned in tutorial .. I need to say that custom rom in device can be problem too. For example, I had installed DU rom with merged partitions 1.2GB. First I had to do re-partition, then I returned official MIUI rom through MiFlash tool, and only then flash WM10.

*** Not enough storage is available to process this command (0x80070008: Max buffer sector is 256)
Try flashing with 64 bit PC with win 7 or win 8 installed on it, AS 32 bit PC will most likely give the syntax error/ Buffer error.

Improved the quality of the camera to take pictures at close range

Fixed screen freezing issues
Fixed the alarm clock problem
Fixed Outlook mail can not sync problems
Fixed the issues of charging when phone off

First method ...

If you already have WM10 (10586.63) received from Windows Insider, it is necessary:

1.download MiFlash tool version 2015060 (if you have not already) and install it (it is desirable not to change the installation path). - link
detailed instructions

2. Get Firmware Download - link
extract firmware download to folder (I do it on the desktop).

3. Turn off the phone and then holding down the volume down + power button to enter to 9008 recovery mode. Wait for it to load, and then will turn off the screen, after then connect phone to the computer. Click "Refresh" in MiFlas tool to connect Mi4 LTE.

Now, BROWSE button is used to provide the path to the folder where the files are stored.

maybe you will have this error.

1. Try download firmware package again
2. Set MiFlash tools path to default (c: / program files / Xiaomi - Do not change folder names).
3. Restart the computer


Second method .. not tested

If you have earlier build than .63 (ie .29 or .36) Try this ...

Open the "Windows Insider " application. Into "Windows Insider " application select "Get a preview version". Click to select "Insider Fast", then click on the bottom of the screen "->" Go to the next .In the Confirm page, select "Accept" eventually go to "Finish" to complete the confirmation page.

Now system can automatically find updates regularly, or you can go to the "Settings"> "Updating and security"> "Phone update"> find and install updated manually .

Perfect Screen Tracker
from 100% -> Location - on, 4G / Wi-Fi - always on, Screen Brightness auto, SMS, Phone calls, Camera 10 pic -> after two days remained 8% of battery
(phone was switched off during the night)

Pretty hyped for this. I really miss the keyboard from my Lumia 920 (I just don't miss the terrible battery life, heat, front facing camera dust and 1000 other issues.)

I'd be interested to hear about battery life and camera quality. I really hope we'll one day get a perfect CM12 ROM but it does not seem likely. Maybe WP is the future?

Yes, so far only Chinese and international mi4lte ( I've seen a leak on MIUI china forum and it was stated for both LTE) but, but I'm not sure .. someone claims only Chinese lte .. Let's wait until tomorrow .. I think it will soon after mi4lte, mi4w get wm rom.

Thanks for the heads up! Pretty sad that Mi4w users can't even test it only because of different modems. Maybe they'll release it for our device in the near future?

Your wish. :D But if the phone doesn't boot up then you have to flash a fast boot Rom to revert back to stock and then flash your Nandroid backup. If you NOT are feeling confident then I'd recommend NOT to try it because you will most certainly face boot loops.

Regarding Mi 4W: " it will take some more time as the devs are working on it..Once it is available it will be shared in the forum, Stay tuned".

I've been stay on wp10 for one day with my mi4 lte/wcdma/cdma(China Telecom). It works much better than my lumia 520. The most annoying problem is I can't turn off the button vibration feedback and the display is really too bright at night. And of course, lacks good apps.

    Here are some of my impressions after 24 hours of use WM10 on Mi 4 LTE
    First let me say that I own and Lumia 532DS which also run with WM10 and I can compare these two versions of WM10.

    installation:
    I do not have much to say, enough is written in a tutorial (see OP).
    What I would like to draw attention, make sure the drivers is ok. Especially if you have Nokia recovery tool. I've hed to uninstall all the drivers that are related to my Lumia. And another thing (it was in my case) after flash rom phone does not automatically boots up, phone is turned off.
    It is necessary to hold the Power button, and then it appears Mi logo, then again black screen (with backlight), and after about a minute finaly a Windows logo.

    WM10
    WM 10 comes with Chinese and English language 10.586 (which is different compared to WM10, which is in the Lumia 10.586.11). Setting up WM10 is easy and really all runs smoothly. Account Login on my Microsoft account and sync contacts, email, calendars, one drive, app store and the other is quick and there are no problems at all. I can say that WM10 on Mi4 works quickly and smoothly.

    Camera:
    by the way, I do not use the camera frequently, so I can not really compare it to the original miui camera, but the camera captures, in my opinion, really great photos. Personally, I use the camera from Windows market - Camera 360 sight, matter of habit :)

    Battery:
    It's a little harder to tell ... or let's say that is about the same as in the MIUI ROM.
    I hold 4G data connection and location always on and I can get about a day and a half operation of phone, with about (translated to the Android) 4-5 h SOT.
    In WM there are no applications that can help to save battery juice (auto limiting data connection, Wi fi networks optimization, etc.), this can be done only via the system by restricting the background processes.

    Other Functionality:
    audio quality in headphones is excellent, speaker is a bit quieter. Because of the lack of extra setings (I think this option is exclusive to Lumia) in the phone settings has not been included equalizers and modes for headphones
    Notification LED does not work
    Ir module does not work
    Glance screen - is not present
    Double touch to wake - is not present
    **This is a task for Xiaomi developer to do a special menu for our phone and some app.

    GPS is very quick and precise - better work than on Android (my experience)
    WiFi connection is excellent .. does not lose connection or something similar.


    All future updates of WM10 will be delivered via Windows Insider app (download from market) or via built-in Phone update options in setings.

    Generally, this is a very good start for WM10 on Xiaomi devices .. I hope that developers to deal with WM10 and provide to us full functionality of our phone.

    This rom is only for Mi4 LTE, and no support for dual boot

    I upgraded, no significant change .. and still is .63 build
    maybe preparing for a redstone?
