How to update Boot, Vendor, System:

Download the newest fastboot firmware Miui China, extract Boot & Vendor. Go to TWRP.

Install img:
Boot
Vendor
System GSI(I use AICP)

Install zip:
Gapps
Disable-Dm-verity-FEC
Magisk 17+
Wipe cache & dalvik, reboot.

Or

Download the newest MiuiEu, make full backup into TWRP (boot, system, data, vendor, firmware).
Wipe system, data, cache, dalvik, install MiuiEu.zip, reboot.
Go back to TWRP, wipe data, cache, dalvik, restore only data, install Magisk.zip, wipe cache & dalvik, reboot.

Yes, it hasn't smooth change of the backlight. I don't use auto-brightness - 5-8-50% with CoolBright app.
I use the tablet at home, I too often cover the sensor with my hand.

Has anyone tested the ASOP 9 v107 build? Last mention by @Stainless7221 on 9 did not look promising.

I saw the news about the kernel sources being released and I am debating with myself to to start tinkering with the generic images or if I should wait for a custom ROM.

Nice just got my first "real" lineageos custom rom build running XD
Works like a charm (same as a gsi i think) i only use it because of the 4k video recording
If someone wants me to upload pics the whole rom etc, tell me..
I could probably aim for 9 now

Just use GTranslate for the info...

It even got Magisk 17.1 builtin for you to root via TWRP itself (working perfectly, less hassle), no need to wipe data as it works with encryption enabled.

Should you mean this:

This is the known working TWRP that supports encryption (no need to wipe data) & also it can root the pad within itself.
The root is achieved with Magisk 17.1, no need to flash any encryption disabler or anything, it simply works!!

Encryption of this version (3.2.3-0930) still doesn't work for me.
This is still asking for the pattern, even after decrypting/formatting data/starting recovery/encrypting.
Besides, it always starts in Chinese, after cancel at pattern input, it switches to English.
