Your TWRP is too old. There's version 3.4.0 on the official TWRP site.

Sent from my SM-T720 using XDA Labs
This worked. Thank you. Updated to 3.4.0, it still wouldn't install the update. A couple of days later, 3.4.0-1 came. I installed that, and after installation, instead of downloading the 740 mb update, it downloaded the 1.9 Gb update, and after that, it installed properly. I am now on latest global stable and got official TWRP with root.

Thanx a lot for your help :)

Updating from miui 11.0.6.0 to miui 12.0.0.3 for my poco f1

No. Data & Internal storage won’t get wiped.

- Download Latest Rom from MIUI website (You can also find link in this thread, OP update this regularly)
- Download Force Encryption Disabler with magisk V4 (This is also mentioned in the Thread)
- Remove all Security options (fingerprint, pattern, pin etc)
- Boot to TWRP (If you dont have TWRP, follow the Thread to flash it)
- Flash the full Rom you downloaded
- Flash Force Encryption Disabler with magisk V4
- Wipe dalvik & Cache
- Reboot
Done!!
Iwas happy to see your answear but my situation is abit complicated, u see from the title(i hope iam doing it right) that iam updating from miui version to a version far ahead( there is after the 11.0.6.0, 11.0.9.0) but i didnt flash it cuz iam a twrp user, that is why i need to check if ur way work if i got full rom miui version 12.0.0.3 and flashed it via twrp, will it work without losing any data and apps? Hello,
I'm sorry for being late as i don't spend time as much i used to do here.

Anyway if you're trying to upgrade from MIUI 11 to MIUI 12, it is always recommended to Clean Flash. As both system ROM are different in core.
So DO wipe your data and system. Also Internal Storage needed to be erased in case it has encryption if you haven't used Force Encryption Disabler!
If you want to dirty flash on top of another it might cause bootloop or softbrick. So Backup your data and follow the guide you quoted.
Good Luck!

How to Root

1. Force encryption disbaler
2. Magisk.zip

Press and hold the volume up button and power button simultaneously
Select and install Force encryption disabler and swipe (done flashing)
Press return key and reboot to recovery mode again.
Format data (internal storage will be formatted)
Select and install Magisk.zip and swipe (done flashing)
Reboot and download Root checker.
I tried following this for MIUI 12.0.2.0 QEJMIXM global but mine is going into a bootloop or encrypted.

somebody please help i'm new to xiaomi devices
