No offense to its buyers, but with quad core imminent, the xoom 2 / xyboard is a total waste of your cash.

Some us still have some love for Motorola and with them just releasing this, I have a feeling it's going to be a longgggg while before the release a quad core tab.

And the 8.2 size is excellent for an all around tab.

W/ that said I totally hear what you're saying and would say I agree with you for the most part. :)

To call the Xoom 2 (I refuse to acknowledge that weird Xyboard name) a total waste of money is a bit excessive. Behind the curve? Perhaps but by no means a waste. The release and pricing of the Wifi Xoom 2 will only help sales and maybe convince more devs to come.

I don't consider a 1.2 (or higher) Ghz dual-core a waste of money, or even a bad buy... it's been a year since dual-cores came out and the OS is still not completely optimized for it, nor are the apps, I/O, etc.

The quad cores are really only going to have daily-use value for spec junkies and gamers. I'm neither :)

What I need is small, thin, light, and cellular data capable. I'm happy to buy something meets my needs.

Is buying a really nice car with a V6 a waste of money because someone else makes a model with a V8? Nope - it's all about what you need and why.

I wouldn't have bought it but Asurion gave me one and I can tell you, bar none, after owning it nearly a month, it's not a waste of money at all. It outclasses the Xoom easily in every regard besides having an unlockable bootloader. I got to use ICS on my Xoom before I sent it back to Asurion and the Xyboard is every bit as smooth as the Xoom was on ICS while only being on 3.2. It outperforms the Xoom in every benchmark and has just a beautiful screen. It also feels WAY better in the hands. After owning it this long, I could see myself buying one had I not already had a Xoom.

My normal reply to comments like this is that despite whatever new gadgets are released the one you already have works just as well as the day you bought it but in the case of the Xoom 2 ME it actually works better than the day I bought it at a massive discount thanks to the ICS update. Best £150 I ever spent.
