Worked a bit around with your solutions and stabled on the following:

  • Stock launcher frozen;
  • SetCPU profiles:
    1. Screen ON/unlocked: Governor OnDemand (1200-800) with Noop Scheduler
    2. Screen OFF: Governor standard hotplug (800-300) with noop scheduler

It looks like moto_hotplug governor doesn't work quite well but I also noticed some glitches on systemui.apk. Whenever you turn your screen on and unlock doesn't show smooth you must turn off screen and try again... if you unlock with a laggy unlocker the whole system will be a mess.

With those setting I'm not having reboots, just some lags here and there; battey, however, lasts much less due to ondemand governor.
Cool ill give it a go!

confirmed

I can confirm that the following made my xoom 2 almost stop randomly freezing and rebooting:
Root
Install awd launcher
Freeze stock launcher2 app
Freeze alot of bloatware.
I'd like to add that i noticed stock gallery app being involved in some strange freezes after these steps above so i froze it and installed quickpic that hasnt frozen once since.

As a side note. I compared the xoom 2 with first model samsung galaxy 10.1 and i can't believe how fast and fluid is honeycomb on the samsung :( Why the hell is xoom 2 so sluggish and strange? I mean benchmarks are good, for instance internal storage speed is greatly superior to most tablets, the screen is really sharp, i hear the graphic chip is not bad either, battery life is ok and so on BUT it feels wrong when it comes to honeycomb... it,s not smoth. Strange tablet, i kind of regret buying.

Hi guys, may i ask regarding the freeze issue.. I m new xoom 2 user, and i ve noticed quite few freezes either requiring reboot or just some time to wait.. Is this regarded as normal for some reason or should i worry? I ve noticed them mainly while surfing on the net..

Yes a lot of people have stated this problem (including myself) especially while using the browser!

Its fixed in ICS though! No reboots!

Guys, I'm considering buying the Xoom 2 ME (Xyboard). I want a tablet larger than 7" and under 10", and the settings of the Xoom 2 ME are perfect for me.

However, as this thread shows, many users are having problems with freezes and reboots.

Motorola has not released the ICS to Brazil and, apparently, has no release date yet.

I wonder if it's worth it to live with the problems of the Xoom 2 ME until Motorola releases the ICS? The ICS really solves the problems of freeze and reboot?

I personally love the form factor of media edition and with ics the performance is very good, most of the problems of honeycomb sorted out.

Xoom2 is a good tablet. If the price is good ( little cheaper than nexus 7 16gb version) then i would say is a good option for what you're looking. Ics can't be far away. All the rest in the world have received... If you trust Motorola(personally i don't) and have a good after sale support in brasil then go for it...

Thanks my Xoom 2 is running great again! :)

Also add this warning. Do NOT remove the Launcher2 app if you do then your Xoom 2 will never boot again and the is no current way to fix this because of the locked bootloader. :)
Im looking for the name of the stock launcher to freeze it... Can you help me?

Xoom Constant Reboot problem

Guys,

for thoses that have the reboot problem, i have found a solution. As many of you noticed when the device is cooled the problem go away. It is not a quick fix but only takes 1/2 hour and removing 2 screws. I wish Motorola wouls assume reponsability and fix the issue. The heat spreader over the cpu is inadequate/ too small, I have made a small change using alluminum foil paper that i folded until it is about 1/8" thick and 1.5x1.5" square to touch the back plate and heat spreader of cpu. i applied some cpu thermal paste on the top of the heat spreader and place the foil paper over it. securing the alluminum foil with clear tape on side.
My reboot has gone away. I can finally use the tablet. some of you that do not see the problem might be due to the fact that the heat spreader is making a better connection to cpu. I have improved this by ensuring that it touches the back back/ bottom plate of the xoom to dissipate maxixum energy

Not pretty but it works. none of what the other guys are saying about the laucher make sense. if the problem was software it would go away after reinstalling the OS, which it does not not. The problem is hardware. The Heat spread must came off the cpu overtime causing the cpu to overheat after about 10/15 minutes of use. It is random because it depends of what you do at the time on tablet and ambient temperature in your room. The laucher could aggravated the problem my making the cpu work harder but the root cause is the heat spreader not the launcher.
