just have a quetion, i still have 3.1 on my wifi US xoom, and i am getting tired of being promted to update so i want to finally do that. i have stock 3.1 rom, with the tiamat full throttle kernel, if i flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074609 will that take me back to stock, allowing me to update, or is there an easier way?
That's really the only way for a rooted user to do that. You should be able to go straight to the latest 3.2 Tiamat Rom from there with a data, cache, and dalvik cache wipe. Just be sure to back your apps with their data before proceeding. Feel free to post back if you have further questions or concerns.

What is the best way to unroot a US WIFI 604 on 3.2.1. It was rooted the wrong way and now the WIFI says error. On moto dev site, the only image is an older one. Or Could I go in to CWM and load the stock and rooted 3.2.1 img. I am trying to help a friend and he rooted using the old directions for Xoom 3.2 after he had updated to 3.2.1, and of course he lost WIFI. Any advice. Thanks

Hmm... either way would be acceptable in my eyes. Although using the 3.2.1 stock and root img would be the easiest choice, and probably the wisest choice by far. Much less hassle to deal with vs. a stock img from Motodev. No need to worry about rooting it or anything else.

Just picked up a pre-owned Xoom via Verizon Wireless' website, as soon as it arrived today I went to the LTE upgrade site to enter my info. I'll only have my Xoom til Monday as that's when the fed ex box is suppose to arrive, then gone for a week.

I'm tempted to go ahead and start adding apps and such now since the instructions say you can do that, but you should go ahead and backup/encrypt the device after that... looking forward to using this as a companion to my Infuse 4G. Already familiar with Verizon's LTE network as I bought the wife a Galaxy Tab 10.1 at the end of August. Love the speeds we are getting locally and can't wait to get that on my Xoom!

That's pretty exciting. I think you are really going to love your new Xoom, and with lte, wow!

Yeah even though I'm going to have to ship it out on Monday I figured I'd go ahead and get all "moved in". Download apps, setting everything up, very speedy, skype video calling actually worked really well over 3G. After the coming weekend, really gonna miss my Xoom come Monday when I have to ship it away...

That was a smart move indeed! So when you do get it back you can get right into it pretty much rather than having to set everything up later. Not cool to be without it for a short period of time though...

Beware - we're having issues with the .SBF. Xooms are hanging at the boot screen, as well as recovery, after flashing the .SBF from the Motorola website.

I recently rooted with the Universal Root Method (last night - 10/18). I then saw the update to the custom Moray (2.2.2). I am finding that these ROMs take a slightly different approach than those I use on my phone in that they include the rooting. My question is this: If I am running the latest Universal.zip (which includes Android 3.2.1) can I install the latest Moray? After all they have both been created by Taimat. If they didn't include the rooting, I wouldn't hesitate to perform a nandroid backup and give it a try.

Thanks for putting this together. I was very nervous about rooting my Xoom even though I've hacked/rooted every phone I've ever owned. Having all this information together like this calmed me a lot through the root/ROM process, I kept it open during every step. Everything was a success and I'm even happier with my device now!

You are quite welcome! And I'm glad everything went ok! Although I do realize this thread has some outdated info now since I am not logged in so much anymore, for the most part it will suffice to the average starting out root user. :)

Yes, thanks for putting together this helpful compendium of goodies for the Xoom.
I have been keeping my adb/rooting guide as updated as I can, and until ICS is ported/updated, this info is pretty useable.

I've had my wifi only xoom for a while now. Thinking of rooting and installing hc 3.2.2 on it sometime soon. Thanks for putting all that info together!
