Listen my dear peeps. Out of state for weeks and weeks now. With my company falling apart at the seams and being given sixty days to find new work I have my plateful. This project will come back. I promise. It needs overhaul at this point... I have removed the links from the OP so it cant be downloaded anymore till I get it updated.

Thanks for your patience.

I tried the one click method for my Wifi only xoom this morning and it got stuck in the motorola dual core.... I was able to get to the unlock and the xoom was stuck after the fastboot flash boot boot.img.

I tried every possible solution to get out of the soft brick with no success... had to go exchange for a new one earlier =\... Frustrating thing is I know this process is probably already noob friendly.... Man I hope I can get the nerve to get this root thing up in the coming weeks...

I have gone through the steps on my pc.

I seem to be stuck on the "Red M" Dual Core bootup screen.

I think I bricked my Zoom. Can someone help me?

Do like me and take it back if u can..tell them that it froze up after u powered it down and now it won't go pass the splash screen...u can get a replacement....without voiding ur warranty...:)

So was hoping someone could help out..... Here's how far I got.....

Unlocked, rebooted put the Xoom back in debug mode, xoom rebooted and now it's just sitting at the Dual Core screen with nothing else being displayed (been here about 10 minutes). I pressed the OK button on the PC becuase someone having a similar problem wsa advised to do so. Xoom didn't move and I am still stuck at the Dual Core screen, the PC says "Verify that the SuperUser app is in your App's draw. Make sure you are in Debug mode then click OK."

Any suggestions??? I am thinking of rebooting (or forcing a reboot) on the xoom but I want to ask here before I mess anything up.

Thanks!!

Root without erasing

Is there a way to root my 3g xoom without erasing my data. I am wanting to root it but I have done so much with it tha tI don't know if I can remember all the things that I have on it. My Samsung Captivate was able to be rooted without deleting my userdata image. Is there a way to root my xoom and keep the userdata.img?

I had 3.1 from the OTA update on my US WiFi Xoom. After the first reboot I also got stuck at the motorola boot logo.
it was a tedious job to get out of this. I cannot remember all steps, but you can get out of the stuck logo by pressing vol up + on/off for a couple of seconds. Keeping vol up pressed it enters fastboot where I flashed this boot image instead: http://api.viglink.com/api/click?fo...opers&txt=Charging light on when device is on
then letting this utility here finish I got root. Only, WiFi was broken then. I flashed the Tiamat Kernel again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=978013 now I have a working 1,5 GHz 3.1 Xoom, microSD and root. there must be a shorter way though ;)

I used one click to root my xoom wifi when I was on 3.0 and it was awesome..... Now I'm running on 3.1 rooted and I did not use one click because the OP has not specified and I have not seen on this thread that anyone has done it successfully.

PLEASE DO NOT BRICK YOUR DEVICES

Unless otherwise specified by OP or other trusted source; I think it is fair to say that DO NOT USE THIS METHOD TO ROOT YOUR 3.1 XOOM!!!!!

A few ways to root.... a 3.1 xoom

MOD Edit: This may not be compatible with UK models and may result in a brick. Proceed with caution!
Once this issue has been resolved, PM me (willverduzco) and I will remove this warning.

I am posting this for jwtyler. All questions, comments, and thanks should be directed to him.

UPDATE: New download links have been posted. Check post 3 for changelog.

Xoom One Click by Jason Tyler

This is one of my first contributions to the community although I have read and used XDA for years.

If you want to know if you can trust me or my tools check out my upcoming Android App Inventor book on Amazon from John Wiley and Sons.

You can also check my heavy involvement over at the Google App Inventor support forums where I am a community liaison and PowerUser. Hal Abelson will vouch for me. (Heh Heh, Hal will kill me. )

This is an all in one package for Unlock, Root and UnRoot and ReLock of the Xoom MZ600.

It is a GUI front end for the adb commands that are needed.

To use this tool:

1. You MUST have your tablet in Debug mode.

2. You DO NOT have to download the SDK or any images.

3. YOU MUST ACCEPT ALL THE USUAL RISK.

Like ALL rooting there is a risk of bricking your device. It’s a small risk but a risk you need to be aware of.

You WILL void your warranty using this tool.

This tool is easy. I have rooted unrooted and rerooted my Xoom umpteen times today testing it.

NOTE:

The WIFI version tools will only work for unlocking and rooting. I do not have the images for the back to stock on the Wifi.

There are two versions of this tool:

1. Root AND Unroot and back to stock. This one is large because of the stock system.img clocking in at 200+mb

2. The NO UNROOT version. This is lots smaller. It is only about 19mb. You can NOT UNROOT with this tool. (Well, you can unroot but not relock. )

Instructions:
1. Unzip the tool and all of the folders and files into a directory. Preferably a folder on a root drive. (i.e. c:\xoom )

2. Run the Xoom One Click EXE tool and follow the instructions. Read the prompts carefully.

WARNING: WIFI Root is untested as I do not have a Wifi. Let me know how it works. Same process as 3G I just cant test it.

RootMyXoom with OUT Unroot http://www.mediafire.com/file/buxcn46xu1ihvgx/RootMyXoomNOUnroot.zip

I have tried to download the root with unroot but the download is set privet. Why ?

So what is the password for the download and will it erase my userimage and everything I have set up on here?

Motorola Xoom 3G - Waiting for better root method
Fujitsu P1120 - Working on installing Android, having problems getting it to work due to lack of USB Boot support

    One day warning.

I will be taking this utility down until it encompasses the newest fixes and adequately warns about the EU issue.

I would have taken this down sooner except I was taking a disconnected writing /teaching break and didnt see the issues.

worked on my WIFI-Xoom on the first shot, thanks man!!

Now I wonder what the best app is for backups... Titanium doesn't seem to support honeycomb (apps list is empty save for some random settings)

    1. Uninstall titanium
    2. Install stericson busybody installer from market
    3.choose the beta busybody.
    4. Install titanium.
    5. All elements should appear.

Show of hands for new version

I think I can make the next version pull the user data from common folders and store it locally i.e. a data backup if that is something that would interest the community.

    Try this:

    1. Open a CMD prompt.
    2. Switch to the directory where you unzipped the RootMyXoom and all its files.
    3. type: adb devices
    4. Hit enter.
    5. See if it lists your device.
