There is a very simple fix for the missing YouTubeTablet and Books applications that are borked after a Factory Reset is performed.

For each application there are two files the .apk and .odex that are required.

uninstall all versions of YouTube to get the new 3.0.15 version back.

Copy the original YouTubeTablet.apk and YouTubeTablet.odex into the System > App folder and reboot. The icon is now in the apps drawer and launches to version 3.0.15 as it did on day one.

The same process can be used for Books (Google Books) get the original BooksTablet.apk and BooksTablet.odex and copy them into the System > App folder and reboot. Viola!

I was searching around and found a full dump of the original system folder from the WiFi Xoom (which is the one I have) I am sure the 3G dump works just as well for the 3G users out there.

I will post links to the YouTubeTablet.zip and BooksTablet.zip that contain the .apk and .odex files if anyone is interested in them...

Thanks!
Steve

On browsers and avoiding the dreaded mobile content format, try installing Firefox with the Phony add-on. This add on lets you fake your user agent so the servers will give you standard content. Once the add on is installed along with Firefox, go into the Firefox preferences menu and select your User Agent option of choice. You can even do iPhone if you're feeling wacky.

It would be nice of the Googlers out there would consider adding the User Agent setting in the default Android browser (is it Chrome, I don't know). Hint, hint :D

Steve, yes please! This has been driving me nuts. Mine came like this out of the box; I didn't even do a factory reset.

Thanks!

Some tips and app lists for music and video players for the Xoom and Honeycomb tablets I put together. I plan to keep it updated as new options become available.

The current version of Honeycomb does not yet support folder like android smartphones. However, there are many free and cheap folder widgets on the market place.

Some I’ve used are:

Folder Organizer

Simi Folder widget

Circler Launcher

Because those are add on apps and not native app, there is a slight delay for them to open, but its very minor issue, plus they look MUCH better than stock folder option on android smartphone and have more Customizable abilities.

All of this app's hamper!
It was an issue on XDA how to make folders using root, but I can't find it any more!

i HATE that there arent folders in honeycomb. and to be totally honest, no offense to the developers, but all the third party folder apps are total crap and not really worth trying in my opinion. if you want folders on your xoom i suggest you use ADW LAUNCHER EX, as it just got updated for honeycomb.

I hate asking this question, because the answer is so simple on my Nexus One... but how do I rate/review apps on the Honeycomb version of the Market? I cannot figure it out for the life of me!

You can't, unfortunately. You'd need to browse to the web interface of the market and do it that way.

You would have thought this was a simple process within the market and a good option for 3.1, logging into the market is the only way, and a pain, meaning many ratings just aren't done, meaning less feedback and honeycomb users more in the dark.

Hope they fix this SOON.

There should be a way Honeycomb users could see only Honeycomb users ratings!
