Xoom Wifi UK Preorder

I too have finally received a tracking number. Sadly it doesn't appear to actually be active yet.

My current concern is that they've shipped it to my billing address rather than the alternative delivery address I specified on preordering. The root of this concern was a phone call with Carphone Warehouse this morning in which they seemed to know nothing at all about the proper delivery address! I put them straight but have little faith they will actually get it right...
Yep, I saw all of that on Twitter. To be honest, neither CPW nor Motorola have come out of this with any glory. They are also delivering to my home address too, despite my asking it to go to a local store. Fortunately for me I'm off tomorrow so that isn't going to be an issue.

Interesting, it might be worth me checking if it's in the store today after all. If the tracking numbers are only for deliveries going to homes.

They're seriously rubbish at this arent they, you'd think with all the crap they've had from Moto in getting the thing here, they would have at least set up a strategy to get the damn thing out to people as quickly and efficiently as possible.

It's like tehy just don't give a **** anymore about the ~£600 we just gave them, they clearly make too much money these days to care about customers.

Mine was supposed to be a ship to store. I have little faith it will go there...

I got a "Ship to Store Order Confirmation" last night (4 times might I add).

Did you also get this? I'm wondering if the multiple copies of it I received should have infact been a notification that it was going to be ready to collect from store or something.

Just went into store. They said it hadn't been and wouldn't be dispatched till I give ID in store. (The card I paid with) . Said I might get it Friday now.

Yes I received mine today, shipped yesterday, playing around with it now, it's a great piece of kit!! I am not sure about what data plan to go with though as I really don't want a contract for it, also in the android market I cannot see a section marked "tablet apps" so I am not sure how to find apps to put on it.

Also the dock that they sent is good quality motorola dock, very sturdy.

Data plans though can anyone give me any advice?

Did you have the 4G plastic placeholder in the SIM card slot? I've only just opened mine and that's what I got. Hope my 3G SIM works!

I had to do an update to get the 3g sims to actually see the sim card was very worried to start with asun had error saying invalid sim.
3g is blisteringly fast, managed to impress a hardened apple fan. left ity at work by mistake so have to wait until tomorrow forum another play.
FYI had work as a delivery address and ity actually turned up there!

iplayer didnt play video and bbc dont support player over 3g.
google maps wouldn't update through market either

Giffgaff certainly sounds like a good deal, especially for a smart phone. It all depends on how much 3G bandwidth you expect to get through in a month.

Personally I've opted to start off with "3" Pay As You Go data-only SIM cards - 3GB or 3 months, whichever comes first, for the princely sum of about £7.30 on eBay or Amazon Marketplace. Obviously the lack of texts and talktime allowance is not an issue on the Xoom, the only question is - how much 3G data will I want to use in practice? If it's less than 3GB a month then I'm doing alright!
