Failed to unroot

I rooted my Xoom 2 ME MZ607 (android 3.2.2) and I followed your instructions to unroot. OTAroot and Ginger unroot and both failed to unroot. So, the new upgrade from my xoom is up and I cant do it until I unroot my device. Have you another tool that I can try to unroot my device?

TY (From Brazil)

XOOM2/Xyboard Everything root and more!

Root Method - Honeycomb
1. Download the Windows version here, or the Linux/OSX version here.

2. Your Computer must have Motorola Drivers installed before rooting and connect your device with debugging on to your computer via USB. (Mac Users don't need drivers)

3. Extract the zip file from the download link, and run “run.bat” (on Windows) or “run.sh” from a terminal (on Linux/OSX)

4. Your device should reboot a few times during the process, don't worry.

5. Then you should see a finished message on the Root Method Window. At this point your device is safe to be removed from the computer.

7. As you are running Honeycomb if you are reading this then you should be receiving the ICS OTA soon. So lets backup your root so you can restore everything root after the upgrade (saves time). Download OTA Rootkeeper and backup root.

6. Well Done! You have root. Enjoy root and be safe.

Blog Post: Here

Root Method - Ice Cream Sandwich

1. Connect your Xoom2/Xyboard via USB to your Windows PC. Install Motorola Drivers from here.

2. Under Settings > Developer Options > Hit the "Enable USB Debugging" selection.

3. Download the Root Installer from here. (Says for Droid RAZR but also works on Xyboard and Xoom 2]

4. Unzip the download.

5. Then run the installer included in the download (file DroidRazrRoot404.bat).

6. Well Done! You now have root.

Bootstrap [Custom Recovery]
Waring: DO NOT proceed if you are inexperienced. bootstrap is messy and is only needed once we have ROMs cooking. All questions about the recovery ask in the developer thread.

1. Install the Bootstrap APK file.
2. Allow Superuser Powers.
3. Read the instructions which is displayed on the user interface.
4. Press “Boot Recovery” followed by plugging in your charger.
5. You will then boot into Clockwork Recovery.
6. Once you have installed the Recovery and you want to enter the recovery again simply power off device, then plug in your charger, to re-enter the recovery.

Unroot or temporary unroot

Temp Unroot - If you need to unroot for any reason and come back at any time, then install OTA Rootkeeper and then select the option "temp unroot). This will remove root without restarting and you can restore by a touch of a button.

Full remove of Root - If you want to complety remove root all together, if you need to send in your device for repair or trading your device. Install Ginger Unroot and continue with the onscreen instructions. This application has confirmed to work on the Xoom2/Xyboard.

Have you make the unroot process? Did it work?

I used this root technique on my xyboard 8.2, now i have been notified about the update but everytime I try to install the 3.2.2 update it fails. Any sugestions of a way to fix would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need to get rid of root for the OTA. Really you need to save root to restore in ICS. Search "OTA root keeper". Works great. And yes the methods on the first page have all been confirmed. :)

As I said before, OTA root keeper and Gingerroot doesn´t worked at all.

I'm having the same issue with my XOOM 2. Had it since Honeycomb where it won't charge past 80% and then once the ICS roll out started it charged to 100% but now its doing the same thing at 80%. Haven't really tried anything, doesn't effect me that much anyway. :)

@lucasarran - in your case i believe it's really a battery stats file problem as it doesn't know when 100% is ... 100% .
Do the battery stats delete thingy/dance/charge to 100, drain battery/recharge and your android os should get it's $hit together and show the real battery %.

Tried this on another friends xoom 2 :)

BTW : thanks for the root method.

Am I the single American with the MZ617 XYBoard 10.1.?

Posts of the model are few..a custom ROM would be awesome..maybe someday..lol:)

I visited the (Droid-developers.org) site..but NO SBF files there for this model either..maybe to early for ICS also..

Gingerbread was great, with this model..but..ICS makes this device leap..WooHoo

But also..custom ROM's would make this thing really come to life..

Been a Motorola loyal user since before the bag phone..will use nothing else..hope Google keeps the Motorola going stronger than ever..

My current devices are:
1) Droid RAZR MAXX (Eclipse v1.5)
1) Droid RAZR MAXX (VeNuM (Eclipse) v1.3
1) Droid X2 (Eclipse v2.3)
and this thingy..

I recently got my hands on a Motorola Droid XYBoard 8.2 MZ609-16 (LTE) that I updated to Official ICS and can relate. Will have to poke around and see what I can find out, but initially it looks slim.

Tickled for you..joining the XYBoard community..Awesome tablet you own, Well..yes..slim posts here..but we'll keep digging..lol.

I truly believe all the Dev's have given our XYB's great effort, and I personally appriciate ever effort each have devoted..

Hope rooting your "Eight" went ok.!

Myself and a few others are attempting to round up a fund raiser, for purchase of the device and assistance with funding needed for custom ROM's and so on..

Please pass the word ON..
