Does not work on newer tablets

Android version: 4.0.4
Kernel: 7.7.1-128_MZ616-12

After reboot of the tablet, the tablet just comes back up, no flashing occurrs..
the software tries reboot again and fails..

UPDATE: Hadn't selected "allow unknown sources".. Selected.. trying again..

Still no go - it just gave me a bunch of errors.. SuExec is created on the desktop and works when clicked.
google play updated it even.. But when I try titanium backup root, it says root access: failed
and I do not get the usual "allow root?" dialog..

Trojan Horse?

I click and my Anti-virus goes into red alert and says it blocked a trojan horse when trying to download this.

the details
Infection Details
URL: since I am still under 10 its the ICS Root download link for xyboard
Process: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\f...
Infection: ELF:Lotoor-J [Trj]

12:14 PM CST 6/27 update: it just let me download it without my antivirus going off

I can assure you it's not a virus, and the file isn't hosted by me but the creator of this root method.

A little updated Xyboard info.

Looks like the Xyboard 8 & 10 (MZ609 & MZ617) will be getting Jelly Bean 4.1. As of yesterday, according to the Motorola Software Upgrade Time-line website.

And as for the bootloader and custom roms, Hashcode had developed Safestrap for Xoom2/Xyboard. It's working prefectly on my MZ617. I was able to Deodex, remove unwanted bloatware/system apps and use tweaks such as xposed framework and others to improve performance. I know its not CM9/CM10 but its a lot better than stock. IMHO :)

Holy crap, I just saw this Lol. I was just posting yesterday that I have lost hope for an upgrade but looks like its actually happening.

Out of curiosity, will I lose my v6 supercharge settings or does that usually carry over, if I do the whole temp root unlock?

Are you guys able to do a screenshot of what you can see?

All I see is "This device will remain on Android 4.0.4 (ICS)".

Great thanks. But I'm somewhat still have a feeling that it's a typo...I mean if they wanted to upgrade the Xyboard to Jelly Bean they would've said ages ago. However this afternoon I did notice an image of the Xyboard with 4.2 on it, but when I tried to find it again it's disappeared. Hopefully, they might be skipping to 4.1 for 4.2/4.3, but I'm not going to jump to anything.

Also I've sent this to Android Police so we can hopefully get some more attention in the press again.

EDIT: Here's a reply from a Android Police editor.

Just pinged Verizon about this. The intl editions are set to remain on ICS, so this may just be a mistake.

Sincerely,
Artem
EDIT2:
This is confirmed. We're running a post in a bit.
Jelly Bean here we go!

That is weird because the Xyboard is a global tablet. Do you have gsm or global set under the network settings and not just CDMA?

The Verizon's Droid Xyboard upgraded to Jelly Bean

So, after checking the Motorola site and other sites like Droid Life, the Verizon's Droid Xyboard
is getting upgraded to Jelly Bean, but it appears that the none carrier model of the Xyboard
is not getting upgraded to Jelly Bean. I have to Verizon Model so I really excited.

Make sure you're not running any applications that use ADB

Hi all,

I was having a problem where the root would fail with a bunch of Permission Denied errors, so I thought I'd post this update to help anyone else in my situation.

I was running an application called MyMobiler that uses an ADB session to communicate with the attached device. It was getting into a battle with the root app for who got to use ADB, killing the running instances of ADB the root app was running.

So, before you start make sure you stop any applications running on your computer that connect to your device with ADB.

Also, use this updated link:

[Link removed because of an error presented by the Forum software that I haven't been active enough.]

Don't click any of the Download buttons, they are all fake. Wait for the Capcha and fill it in, then you'll get the download.

Here's a log of my root session:

Code:

Friend..What are you attempting, wanting to do..?

Backup your XYBoard.?

Create ROM slots.?

Both..lol

Sent by my Motorola Droid XYBoard MZ617-16 10.1_ICS 4.04
It's my green attempt at laying on a new ROM. This is possible, right? It wont take the new verizon update and reverts back to 3.2, which makes me wonder it was some kind of incomplete demo model.

Well..from what I interpreted, Your device is on Gingerbread 3.2..is your device Rooted.?

If so..this will be one reason your XYB will not take an OTA update..there are probably more reasons, to get the answer to more reasons why..search this forum..otherwise..the next step would be to upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS)..and to do so..there are ways to upgrade, search this forum for this also..

This is what I have done to four XYB MZ617's with Gingerbread..
I have the ICS 4.04 fast boot files..I have RSD Lite v6.1.4..on my laptop, and within minutes, I have a XYBoard MZ617 10.1 ICS 4.04, then Root, then Titanium Pro Root, then SafeStrap 3.11..

Hope this helps..

Hai :)
hope you could help me.

I have motorola xyboard 8.2 (MZ609) from verizon. finally its rooted on ICS and work with my local provider (indonesia telkomsel)
but i have a problem since i trying to change its font with fontchanger apk. after its restart my phone going stay on powerboot logo and must recovered / force factory hard reset.

now its ok, but default font is changing, and each time i set lock code (pin, password, pattern or faceunlock) it will restart and stay on powerboot and i must do a hard reset.

now my tablet is on but could not unlock witch lock code even slide lock.

there's anyone has basic / default firmwire of it so i can try to flash on it... ?

thanks :)
