Zoom 2 is the ridiculous "nickname" for those ones that cannot pronounce the real name..XYBoard..Motorola never made a "Zoom 2" to my knowledge..PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong.!!

My wife is partial Chinese..and speaks Mandarin..XYBoard sounds like..ZeyeBoard..the "Y" is pronounced / sounds like "Z"..not pronounced like " X-Y-Board..

Anyhow..with all that stated..Yes..the ROM is the same, because the device is the same..

The xoom2 is a real device.

The xyboard is also a real device, and so is the Xoom media edition... all different in their own way... the xyboard was a droid branded tablet sold by verizon wireless avaible in both 8.2 and 10.1 with LTE or as a wifi only...
And no roms are not the same so please dont try to flash something not meant for your tablet on your tablet.
There are LTE cdma and gsm variants as well as carrier specifics if its not a wifi only model

"Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update release scheduled for Q4 2013."

after last OTA update Xyboard MZ609 to Androit 4.1.2 - Blur_Version.12.11.31.MZ609.Verizon.en.US.zip, RSD don`t downgrade system.
In process flash with VRZ_MZ609_1.6.0_279_1FFVRZ_12.7.279.xml and VRZ_7.7.1-85_MZ609-31_1FF.xml problem with boot.img motoboot.img system.img

Well from just the info u have posted in guessing that the boot img does not match the hash that the updater script is looking for.
What you can do is, if you still have the update or fine someone who has pulled it before flashing to share ( which would be helpful for some) compare the hash its looking for against what is currently on your system.
Or do a restore with the official fast boot restore files, take the ota for ICS then take the ota for 4.1.2

Everything is possible flash, except boot.img, system.img - INFOPreflash validation failure

at this time still missing officially full service rom for version 98.8.127.en.US - xml

If you want to try to make bricks - yes!!!!!!!

For 617 maybe same name, but safety is better to wait,

ROM for 617 don`t unbrick my 609.

tested only mz609 after downgrade Android 4.1.2 to Android 4.0.4
Restore normal fresh Android 4.1.2

1.have a brick - after OTA update to 4.1.2 - attempt to downgrade to 4.0.4
2. on hdd c:\Android withs complet ADB, fastboot
3. drivers setup

2. flash with RSD 5.6

3. reset PAD (volume + and - and Power)
4. go to stock recovery
5. this is recovery with sideload
select - apply update from ADB
6. Windows PC

process 10-15 min
after command`s will begin file upload to PAD
cheking files

I can confirm that with the latest update the tablet becomes carrier unlocked. I just inserted an Italian SIM inside (I live in Italy) and it works. I have the Verizon Xyboard 8.2.
The ROM update went well without any problems and my perception is that the menus are now a little bit faster. I haven't notice any other change.
