Hey Guys...

I used to have x8i, x10i, Neo, and now I'm gonna buy an Xperia U.

But I can't figure out something, since there is a little progress on this device in XDA.

The simple question is this: If I buy this little honey, Can I root it ANYway?

I mean either with locked BL or unlocked BL.

And, Is latest version, .184, rootable?

Actually, I want to know whether it is possible to root this device or not, and if yes, WHICH VERSION...

It would be greatly appreciated if you provide me the link..

Thanks in Advance...

Zende Baashin, Hezaar Saal...

Unlocking the SIM card and Unlocking the bootloader are totally independent and different.
Unlocking the SIM is not a way or a "cause" for unlocking bootloader.
Bootloader unlocking is a different story, especially in the case that it's official. through Sony Mobile website...

There is a WIP exploit. Needs a few final tests, but we're getting there.
first, tnx for your and ohter devs' hardwork.
then, there rises a question, how much chance do we have to get this little phone rooted? and then, who is the main dev for this? how much time do you estimate we need to get it done?

Does it work?

It is working, but I'm not yet sure if it's failsafe. Many things are the same as the XPS exploit and some work was done by Pokoby but I can't find his thread now. Basically it's a community effort.

How is possible to be failsafe,it does not touch trim and bootloader area right?

i kinda have an idea of what it is... is it a method kinda like the Tablet S? if yes, it is normal that it fails the rooting sometimes...

Pokoboy was just kidding, believe me! I read that thread all over, and nothing...
I hope there will be solution for root problem...
BTW, can you provide us with the root tool you are talking about? we will give it a shot, and we don't expect it to work 100%...

this device is very hard to root in locked bootloader because sony fixed the exploit., and another thing this phone is using different microprocessor(NovaThor), not a common Qualcomm SoC.

Even if he was (though I'm pretty sure he wasn't), he pointed me in the right direction. I'm the only person working on it, and I'm on vacation so I am NOT working on it right now.
I'll have a test version in a couple weeks.

This word you're using, 'hard to root'. I'm not sure it means what you think it means...
