Hey Doomlord,

Just wanna say thanks for this easy to follow write up! I was an long time Motorola User, but after i cracked the Screen of my Razr i i made the switch to Sony.

My Xperia Z arrived @ 9:00am this Morning, now it's 10:00am and i'm up on rooted 244 using Flashtool and your Exploit :good:
Finally i can Setup this Device and use it untill tomorrow, to see how it's running. Then i'll Backup my TA and do the Unlock.

Again, Thanks for making it me that easy.
I'm glad to join the Sony Community now and crackflash all the Stuff i was missing on the Razr i :highfive:

You're almost right. Basically the baseband/radio-partition is the operating system that the main processor (Snapdragon S4 Pro) will boot on the modem co-processor (Gobi MDM9215M) to control communication. It mostly contains calibration data for the different radio frequencies and communication modes as well as software that abstracts this data into a common format for the Android operating system running on the main processor. Usually on Android (and most other) platforms there is a non-flashable bootloader for this co-processor which starts it up and waits for the baseband/radio-partition to be loaded into its memory.
One question that I have been searching an answer on for days now : I am worried about baseband version. Coming from thr Motorola defy, they have a baseband switcher to set the correct baseband for your country. I find plenty posts but almost no info on baseband for xz. How do you switch to the correct frequencies? I need to set to Australia Telstra. I don't know if flashing the new stock genetic 4.3 will enable me to use the phone here in Australia... Please help?

Great question...
My guess is that it should be fine as long as the firmware matches your device.
