Because, unlike some other people, Ambroos ACTUALLY posted photographic evidence of him in possession of the device.
which can be photoshopped.
I've actually used a real world physical version of this phone, seen it in the flesh with my own eyes, and the display is washed out.
i really don't know how many more times i have to say this.
the picture on the screen might be as sharp as hell (but so it should be at that resolution), but the colours don't look great. I spent 10 minutes fiddling with the xperia z's brightness before i accepted defeat that there was no brightness setting that would make the screen not looked washed out.
At high brightness, dark colours look washed out.
at low brightness, light colours look washed out.
bizarrely enough, there is no middle ground where the colours look ok.
i've sadly cancelled my order for xperia z, and am left hoping for good things from htc m7, but we shall see.

I don't work for Sony or at Sony, I do work with Sony as an external partner of some sort. I have my own contacts at Sony Mobile in Europe and Japan. I'm not going to post proof again but I have been in possession of a retail Z for a while now and I'm pretty sure quite a few people can confirm that.

And while the display isn't the absolute best out there it's in no way bad either.

Try Photoshop this, including faking all the EXIF data (download it and check the date) :p *snip, don't need everyone here to see my horrible.mirror pic* (I had my brightness too high here too, and a front cam is never amazing).

Or even better, a screenshot of me typing this post on my phone? You got it. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/narqa1ktg6hvrqw/VgDF2zE4mT

Calm down i know ambroos has had a device for quite sometime

i remember now he had and with all due respect judging by his device history he has mainly had Xperias, now the xperia Z is a step up from the majority of Xperias, but not outside competition, which is why coming from a one x i notice the dull colours and the vibrancy of the super lcd 3 of the one x, thats why i was hoping for something better
Granted as we all agreed, everybody's expectations are different

Oh nice, i didn't know each letter key on the keyboard had long-press punctuation marks on them. Me gusta.

That is also true. I have no extensive experience with the competitors. I've seen and tried them all but not for longer periods. I'll see if I can do a direct comparison with a One X tomorrow, one of my friends has one. I'll also ask his opinion.

Wow! From CES screens to Dev Unit screens, Pre-beta (or whatever you call it), demo units, final versions, Japanese Docomo versions, secret xiFILL Vodaphone editions... :p I can't keep up anymore.

Ah well, it looks like I'll soon be the only one left on here who hasn't cancelled their Xperia Z pre-orders, so I'll be happy to post my 'European Unlocked, Thick Screen, Possibly Washed Out Colours Edition' review when I receive mine... :D

exactly, one x has a very good display, if you are coming from a desire or a sensation you probably might think the display is better, but if you come from premium 2012 devices, you will not feel it better, im so used to looking at one x, that yes the demo units do look drab, icons app icons, web browser etc, was hoping the final units would be better
I'm coming from my Nokia 6700. And we've been through alot together. But it's starting to struggle - I've now got 18 pictures in my gallery, and it takes quite a while for them to load up. I plan to have atleast 20 pictures when I get my XZ, so it better hold up. Also, my current version of "google maps" involves me taking a picture with my 6700 of my laptop screen for where I want to go. And I can confirm that the colours are seriously washed out. To the point where I've got lost on my travels and had to ask for directions. So if the Xperia Z can improve on the aboove, then "everything else is cream cheese"!

Thanks, take a look at the one x closely, it is brilliant at reproducing colours, viewing angles and contrast,

ive used samsung, HTC and Sony in the past, Samsung are known for their pure blacks in AMOLED, and HTC ONE X was known for having one of the best screens of 2012 and of the 2012 flagships, S3 lost marginally due to pentile display giving it 2 sub pixels per inch instead of 3 sub pixels like the HTC.

while HTC used RGB RGB RGB i think samsungs was RG BG RG BG,

but the one x display was definitely better in my comparison to the XZ, this is why i am disappointed,

Oh please cut the c##p, the flagship model Xperia Z will be the best of Sony and you say they put some weak screen on it?

Are you serious???

Best of Sony means Best of Sony, I will believe otherwise if I actually see this proof myself.

agreed, best of sony is only best of sony, not other devices, totally a great improvement over the last xperia devices
