Thanks,

here you can find the originals
http://www.flickr.com/photos/pureviewclub/sets/72157632928702933/with/8534296302/

I'm wondering what the base ISO is of the XZ since they are all shot at ISO 40 which could be well below base ISO and that could result in the flat and mushy images. But regardless it doesn't seem that Sony has done a good job with this new sensor. Curious to see what the Apple engineers are able to do with this sensor.

Edit:
The lowest setting you can shoose is ISO 100. I think the Superior auto mode just really sucks

These shots are on full Auto.
So you know, you have the Menu and the Settings to USE it in order to get better results.
Crap test, and it's a Nokia fanpage...
Most people will use it on auto, so at least they tested this capability of the phone (in a daylight setting) and it seems the superior auto doesn't live up to its name. Hope they will fix it.

Bottom Line
The Sony Xperia Z does not disappoint at all in terms of performance. It is, without doubt, one of the better high-end Android phones in India today. But, in the hand, it feels a tad bigger than the HTC Butterfly – the few extra mm in width and height make all the difference. The slab design with no curves adds to that aspect. Those who prefer an edgy design would appreciate this, though. If you are comfortable with the footprint of the Xperia Z, then the rest of the package is impressive. This phone may not be able to take Sony ahead of the likes of the HTC Butterfly in terms of desirability, and we do not know how it will fare against the likes of the upcoming Galaxy S4, but this phone surely holds Sony in good stead for the rest of this year.

With the Sony Xperia Z priced at Rs. 38,990, the HTC Butterfly seems expensive, and offering no major performance benefits. The Xperia Z therefore seems like a better deal.

Our take:

Those who believed in Sony's capabilities will be graciously rewarded with a thoroughly enjoyable time with Xperia Z. It is a very capable smartphone that offers a fluid user experience and top notch computing power and a beautiful screen. It gains a considerable edge over rivals due to its relatively lower price tag despite similar features and will provide all that you need from a top-end smartphone. It is a very good phone when you consider the features it offers for Rs 38,990, whereas rivals cost Rs 45,000-plus.

We feel that if you are in the market for a full HD smartphone with enough number of apps without crossing the Rs 40,000 price barrier, then Xperia Z is the phone for you.

Z10 is the better business phone, fits in your pocket a little easier and feels less likely to be damaged. But the Xperia Z has a better (the best ever) display, has access to the greater riches of the Play store and has a better camera.

Android Central - Hands on
http://www.androidcentral.com/sony-xperia-z-hands-and-initial-review

Immediately it's clear that the Xperia Z is Sony's best handset yet. But we're left wondering whether this device will simply be too much phone for the average user. Switching between the 5-inch Z and its predecessor, the 4.6-inch Xperia T, we noticed the latter offers much the same software experience on hardware that's nearly as good, in a more hand and pocket-friendly form factor. Upscaling to a larger smartphone always takes some adjustment, though, so we're going to give the Xperia Z a fair shot before coming to our final conclusions. Look for our full review in the next week

Verdict
The sharpest screen, fast components and ample battery impress, but we still - just - prefer the Samsung Galaxy S III

Android Authority

http://www.androidauthority.com/sony-xperia-z-review-video-167792/

"I don’t normally give numbered ratings for phones – after all, experiences with a phone are a purely subjective matter and my goal is to present the facts and opinions I come across in the usage of a new device so that you can make your own assessments when the time comes. That being said, I have seen the Sony Xperia Z get quite a few rave reviews that score it around a 9/10. If I were to break my rule for once, I would simply just agree with those reviews. This is a phone just shy of 5 stars that deserves an incredible amount of credit – it’s not just the phone that some of us have been waiting for, it’s the phone that Sony has been absolutely anticipating finally releasing.

And if the scores across the interwebs, my experience, and the enjoyment I think you’d have with the Xperia Z are any indication, Sony has a lot to be happy about. Here’s to hoping that the Sony Xperia Z makes it to the States in a big way on multiple phone carriers. If you feel the same way, let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for all of the best Android coverage right here at Android Authority."

PC Advisor - vs Nexus 4

http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/reviews/...xperia-z-vs-google-nexus-4-comparison-review/

"The Sony Xperia Z is definitely the superior smartphone out of these two with its Full HD screen and superb cameras. However, the bargain price of the Nexus 4 can't be overlooked. You've got to choose between specifications and value for money here."

in to mobile

http://www.intomobile.com/reviews/sony-xperia-z-review/

"I see no reason why people wouldn’t like the Sony Xperia Z if it were pushed to the American market correctly. Despite the company making a truly worthy device, Sony still finds itself in an uphill climb to grab mindshare away from its competitors. Samsung is by far the king of the mountain when it comes to offering consumers Android handsets they desire, and even LG is making noise these days.
Going against its competition, I’d still have to say Sony has a real winner on its hands. I know, once the Xperia Z finally gets released in the U.S. -- it may not get a legit push from the carriers. However the company is showing that its definitely changing things up on the design side, with a more compelling look that doesn’t really follow the top devices on the market right now. That’s encouraging."

Trusted Reviews

http://www.trustedreviews.com/sony-xperia-z_Mobile-Phone_review

"A mixture of high-end handset supremacy and a few small niggling issues, the Sony Xperia Z takes the Japanese manufacturer so close to smartphone superstardom, only to fall at the final hurdles.

Overall, the Sony Xperia Z is a device that impresses on first use, continues to please over time and which, thanks to its high-end specs collection, will remain future proof well into your two year contract. That said, the battery concerns surrounding the device are hard to overlook.

With the IP57 waterproof coating lining up as an inspired addition that we now covert on all future handsets, the quad-core CPU and 5-inch Full HD display of the Sony Xperia Z take it so close to becoming the next must-have handset. However, struggling to achieve close to a day’s standard use severely knocks the Xperia Z’s footing in our eyes and is an issue that could well be its downfall."

"Android device buyers are spoilt for choice currently and even more so in the future. The Sony Xperia Z does however have some unique features such as the environmental sealing, LTE and long battery life along with the high definition screen that makes for a well thought-out smartphone package."

Pros:
Water and dust resistant; Classical styling; Immersive display

Cons:
All ports under flaps; Mediocre battery life; Gets warm with intensive use

Verdict:
The Sony Xperia Z may be the best phone out right now, but that isn’t to say it’s perfect. Thanks to its weather proofing, it will be the only viable super phone out there for anyone whose business requires they be exposed to the elements.

Conclusion

The Sony Xperia Z is an outstanding smartphone in many ways. It looks good, it's very powerful and it's even waterproof. The added value of Full HD compared to HD resolution in a 5-inch display isn't huge, but hi-res photos do look amazing on the Xperia Z.

Our main issue with the Xperia Z is the panel that Sony used. It's bright enough, but its overall quality is not on the level of the competition. The contrast is lower which makes it look a bit pale, but more importantly, the viewing angles are not good enough. Even just turning the screen away a little bit generates a visible haze. This is really a shame, because in every other way Sony has really made a great phone. But at this price point (£449 or € 640), it definitely needs a better display.

SoyaCincau - camera vs butterfly
http://www.soyacincau.com/2013/03/10/camera-shootout-sony-xperia-z-vs-htc-butterfly/

"In terms of quality, the low light capabilities is rather a mixed bag. In certain situations, the Xperia Z appears a little bit brighter however the noise levels can be rather high, making the 100% crop looking rather smudgy. The Butterfly in the other hand may look sharper but we can’t help but to notice there’s excessive post-processing sharpening with the photos. Looking at normal resized view, the Xperia Z colours appear to be better and more natural than the Butterfly. Note that the Xperia Z we have is a rather early release model and there’s room to improve with newer firmware."

For some reason I never seem to agree with the reviews they write. Most of the time they like stuff I don't like and visa versa.
I agree with you mate they always give Apple products a much higher score than android(with the exception of samsung):p
I like endgadget reviews much more:)

The scoring is pretty useless from the verge, that is the main problem.

For instance:
at the One review they say the screen is fantastic but not noticeably better than the DNA or Z. it gets a 10 for display while the Z gets a 7
same go's for design. At the z review one of the "good stuff" points is its design but still they give it a 7.
when looking at the battery life the Droid DNA gets a 4 while the z gets an 8. Most other reviews say they are more or less the same.
Nexus 4 performance a 10, the z gets a 7 while having the same SOC and kicking the N4 in benchmarks
N4 and Droid DNA gets an 8 for camera while the One and the Z get a 4 and 6
etc etc etc.

scoring at the verge is broken and doesn't mean a thing

I think the verge have been kind in this review and agree 100% that the screen looks better off than on.actually the screen feels horrible and cheap . Maybe it's the protector and anyone trying to defend this phone reading this thread is just putting a brave face on things and in denial . The screen is awful even on full brightness so ihave sent mine back as faulty and praying they give me a refund .

Verdict

The Sony Xperia Z is one of the best Android phones we've used combining a major set of features, a great HD screen and great build quality. The phone's IP55 and 57 dust and water resistant body make it ideal for people who're always on the move and/or a little careless with handling their phones.

Compared to the HTC Butterfly, the phone's Rs. 38,990 price tag makes it better priced. But comparing it to other non-HD screen flagships, the price is a bit steep.

The phone's launch comes at a time when HTC just announced its flagship phone, the HTC One, which also sports an HD screen, albeit a little smaller in size, but excellent build quality and a new design. The Samsung Galaxy S IV is also set to debut on 14th March, and is expected to sport better specifications, HD screen and some new smart features. If you're willing to look at non-Android phones, the iPhone 5 is still the best smartphone available in this price range.

Having said that, the phone outperforms all its rivals and the full-HD display is brilliant. Sony has tweaked the software to make it user friendly and yet please the power users.

We do feel that not everyone would be comfortable putting down this big an amount for a smartphone, and such people may consider other flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S III and the LG Optimus G, which are now available at attractive discounts compared to their launch price. Large screen enthusiasts may also prefer the Galaxy Note II that comes with a stylus.

As we mentioned in our review of the HTC Butterfly, once you experience an HD screen you don't like going back to normal ones. We're waiting with bated breath for other phones that sport an HD screen to make an entry into the Indian market.

The Xperia Z is really a mixed bag kind of device. The design is pretty but has its own set of flaws. The camera has the highest resolution sensor available in the market on an Android smartphone today but its performance is average. The battery performs above par if you are willing to sacrifice being online at all times. The display has the highest pixel density on a smartphone (for now) but suffers from poor viewing angles.

The only thing that really works for the Xperia Z is its pricing but that is more about HTC failing to price the Butterfly sensibly. It is water resistant too but it remains to be seen whether that is a killer feature for which buyers would choose the Xperia Z.

And let’s not forget the elephant in the room – the Samsung Galaxy S IV, which will be unveiled on March 14 and should be available in India sometime in April, if the Galaxy S III roll-out from last year is taken as a precedence. Add to it the HTC One that is also getting launched in India in April and the Xperia Z starts looking a generation old already.
