Im jot trying to defend the s4....but my s4 gets ALOT brighter than that althougj it could just be the picture making it appear dimmer

Please keep in mind im not saying the s4 is brighter or has better whites than the Z as th Z is going to be better in those areas due to lcd general ly being better at that

But I can easily use my s4 in hright sunny california light...but once again the z probably does look brighter and have better whites

Yes, I know that it will not exceed the brightness on XZ, but you still don't get my point.
I mean the the gap of screen brightness is not as big as your first picture if the S4 showed the highest brightness it can get (which can achieve right after being rooted).
And 300 nits is enough for indoor reading in any case. The use of the more birghtness is for reading outdoor only (or maybe for somebody wanna show off how bright the device is), but brightness is not everything for outdoor visibility. Contrast and reflectiveness is also important.
This one showed that S4 is quite close to HTC One in visibility
+1 And HTC One (probably a notch ahead of S4) and S4 looks like they have better outdoor visibility, second to iPhone. I was surprised to see the outdoor performance of S4 actually.

But god, I hope some mods later helps to get rid of that horrible blue tint on S4. Should be something Samsung does by default to extend battery life.

Hopefully XZ light can help me see in the sunlight cause the S3 is impossible.
I have already been out in full sunlight and i can just say, XZ is awesome! Even though I have two screen-protectors(original+copter) there is unnoticable reflection. I can do every single task outdoor now without having to get the screen closer to my eyes or getting shadows with my hand, I am very satsfied with the screen performance in light conditions! I think it is because of the liquid crystal screen technology that makes this possible along with the brightness :D
